its most likely Bungie messing with you. They do on big maps so it scares the crap out of people when they hear it on the other side of the map. So it makes you want to come back. Take Sandtrap for example. Why do you think there is so much ghost encounters on that one map? So when a noise comes from the middle of Sandtrap, it scares the player that is most likely on the far side of the map.

i encountered the ghost of blackout

i was fooling around with my friends, we all had active camo. there was only 4 people. we were all shooting at fusion cores and then a fifth player showed up. i pressed back but still there was only 4 people. all of a sudden, he reappered on a ledge 100 yards away with a sniper rifle. he wasnt bungie, i could tell. then, our active camo went off, as did ALL of our shields. we were standing side by side, he shot the dude in the middle, and we all died.

I dont know if you knew or if someone posted it but i believe that this is caused by an XBox live lag. What happens is out of no were, there is a grenade that goes off, why? in a game on xbox live, if you are using it any way, then you know how sometimes it doesnt blow? it is lagged into another game such as what you experienced. this can happen with people too, its not fake, its not a GHOST, its simple lag, the evilist thing online!
