  • How the hell did this become a thread about pro-life vs pro-choice?

  • My favorite quote of clip at 3:20:

"Two." As she casually blows out a hit over her shoulder.

  • Having an abortion is not the same thing as having your dog euthanized...we have souls and ALL unborn babies have a right to the life that God created for them!

  • @LadieWebster I'd like to see some physical evidence to support this statement.

  • @Izabella579 Can you give me proof that it's not a true statement? What do you think is behind your emotions, your will?

  • @LadieWebster Of course I cannot prove that something does NOT exist. That is impossible, and a very typical response from defenders of religion. I also cannot PROVE that Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster don't exist, but those characters are all equally as fictitious as god. If you want to insist that god or souls exist, you must find a way to prove your point; that which can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof.

  • @Izabella579 Do some research into it before you disqualify God.Look at the universe around you,the stars and moon, the mountains and the seas, the animals and not to mention humans...what keeps your heart beating? Then there are the ones who talk about the big boom theory, what caused the boom?

  • @LadieWebster If Bette Davis heard you say that, she's take a big hit off her cigarette, blow the smoke in your face, then ash on your shoes. Not because of your religious views, but because you're a tool.

  • @reymatt76 Well I'm not afraid of her seeing as how she's dead.

  • @LadieWebster OMG, you are a tool.

  • @LadieWebster Please don't assume that I don't know what I'm talking about. I have explored every major religion, and found them all to be baseless narratives lacking in fact and evidence. Simply telling me to look at things does not prove god made them. Just because we don't yet understand something is no reason to assume god did it. Not too long ago, we didn't understand disease or pestilence, and assumed it was god. Nope. Just germs, which we can now eradicate with antibiotics.

  • @Izabella579 Well it's your choice,no one can make you believe so I'm not going to argue with you.

  • @LadieWebster Of course you can't make me believe something you have absolutely no proof of. What a silly notion. If you, on the other hand, wish to open your eyes to the reality of fact and science, I wish you the best of luck. I know it's hard to let go of indoctrination, but I did it and you can, as well. You can always visit Richard Dawkins' website for help and support on your quest for reality and truth.

  • @Izabella579 Richard Dawkins doesn't know either.

  • @LadieWebster The difference between you and Mr. Dawkins is that he has the humility to ADMIT that he doesn't know, and the strength of character to look for the answer. You call your ignorance god and sit back telling the world they should believe what you believe, simply because you believe it. You offer no proof, no evidence, no logic; all you offer is blind faith in an old storybook. I'll take logic and intelligence of indoctrination and superstition any day :)

  • @Izabella579 *over

  • @Izabella579 If you want to believe him,go for it,it's your right.

  • @LadieWebster Belief doesn't have anything to do with it. He can show evidence to support and prove his claims. I don't have to believe (ie: accept without proof) because there is plenty of proof.

  • @Izabella579 Honey, don't argue with these people. I mean they actually ask you to prove that something isn't true. I think these hard-core Christian and other relgious people are not only crazy, but I think they're actually dull, almost to the point of mental retardation, but not quite so as not to appear any different than the rest of us. Don't argue with them. They lack the sophistication and IQ points that it takes to be enlightened. Just nod your head and smile. They understand that.

  • she look soo beautiful. and soo sharp dang her fourth mariage and she was 26 years old.

  • I agree that working has its rewards. There are many women on welfare who want to work and if it was easy for them to find places to work, they would be contributors. As for abortion, the only way it would ever cross my mind is if I lived in famine or the child would suffer emotionally. I do think it's wrong to do it for selfish reasons and it would take a lot of strength to go through something like that. I have to say being single is better than being with an abuser liar.

  • Like this great actress I too had 2 abortions as a married woman & mother to my son, I don't regret doing it, but I do regret having to have been in that situation regardless of how it happened. My husband & I have moved on & we continue to have a very happy & loving relationship in a wonderful family, we got past it, too bad others cannot.

  • Adoption in the USA has bee made so difficult and so costly and nearly impossible. the restrictions and criteria for adoption in the USA is so prohibitive. My friend finally had to go to China to adopt a little girl and bring her back here. The little girl has graduated from college and is very successful. What a wonderful life she has thanks to the chayotic system we have here in the US. My friend is a career woman, plenty of money, a good background and she still was not eligible.

  • What a woman! So feisty, even in old age

  • Great actress

  • Bette was a great lady and actress. One of the best. To bad they don't make them like her anymore.

  • Some people who support abortion rights see abortion as a last resort and focus on a number of situations where they feel abortion is a necessary option. Among these situations are those where the woman was raped, her health or life (or that of the fetus) is at risk, contraception was used but failed, the fetus has acute congenital disorder and defects, incest, one-child policy, or she feels unable to raise a child. I am also either for or against it. It is their choice, body and life.

  • @SkyNativeDancer none of those things listed are the childs fault, & in all those situtations you are still taking away the life of an innocent child. the percentage of women who get abortions for those reasons are so low that those are all just lame excuses to make abortion appear less disgusting.

  • They just don't make 'em like this anymore, what a legend!

  • 3:16-3:19 French inhale. What a badass

  • @1984rockcity god.

  • i heard she never inhaled the smoke and only took it into her mouthg and blew it out again.

  • Bette Davis would have made a terrific high school teacher!

No one would have skipped her classes.

  • Besides her smoking when she is not supposed to,she was an amazing woman.

  • LOL smoking during an interview on national TV? Not in this age.

  • @Delpheno2K7

.... I liked Bette Davis a lot, but she was an arrogant smoker. If someone didn't like her smoking in their presence, then that was just tough. She smoked wherever she felt like it and that was that!

  • @cheeriosinabowl I cannot imagine anyone brave enough to go up to Bette Davis to ask her to put her cigarette out because it bothered them. I'd be afraid she'd put one out on the back of my hand when I wasn't looking.

  • @reymatt76

... LOL, that's true. Bette was no pussy, no doormat to anyone.

Also, this was back in the day when smoking was the in-thing, cool. I remember that it was considered impolite if a non-smoker asked a smoker to butt out. Gladly times have changed!

  • How amazing is this woman...?

  • such a fascinating woman.

  • It is a private affair and that is that!!!

  • i want to see the rest of the interview..

  • Forget her abortions, I would have been more offended by the cigarette smoke in my face, but back then people smoked directly in front of their babies.

  • @bilja2194 I just wrote about that....Betty has a 1950 interview and she smoked on set just like she did on screen...

  • Thumbs up if you saw this because of the song

  • If you can watch an interview with Bette Davis, and your most interesting comment is about the fact she said she had an abortion, then you have really missed the point. It shows how small the scope of your mind is, and the narrow view you have of the world. Someone once said, "The only soul a person is responsible to save, is their own." I quite agree.

  • @silvertongue111 Well said! If people want to talk about abortion or smoking, go tell someone who cares. We're here to watch Bette Davis, not debate political topics 32 years after the fact.

  • I always love hearing her say she was a virgin until she was 26 making us feel bad for her. She was 24. I guess as we age our care for details goes out the window and just that an event happened becomes the important thing. I love and miss you miss Bette Davis. "the girl with the tattoo on her fingers bearing the name of this phenomenal icon"

  • I don't know why everybody all of a sudden becomes self righteous when they peek into other peoples lives and are quick to judge and execute those for making decisions. Not one person on this status thread are angels...every single one of us have made some fucked up choices in our lives.

  • -----she picked her job over her unborn child ,wow that sure was a selfish women .This i dident know about her......sad sad sad

  • It's uncanny how similar she is to our own Betty.

  • To all you people who want other women to have unwanted children, how many of those unwanted children have you adopted? How much have you contributed to their welfare?

  • @carrotjuse How many children have you murdered?

  • @1seticat Well, I'm just starting out, but I would guess only about 2 or 3 hundred. Give me time.

  • @carrotjuse Than the murder of two to three hundred children is on you and your conscience. So you must deal with having committed these despicable acts. Think about the lack of logic in UR statement. If for any reason a woman doesn't want a baby she's carrrying, she's free to kill it, at 1 month or 9 months? If many of the poor R cared 4 but others remain uncared 4, does that mean killing those uncared 4 is OK? If not, Y not? In referring to "their" welfare, you're acknowledging human(s)

  • @1seticat Sounds good to me.

  • @carrotjuse Why does killing humans sound good to you?

  • All you people that are so against abortion, how many of you are in favour of modern day warfare???

  • @Chaoitcme What has one to do with the other? Are you somehow trying to establish the value of a life? Who should our government help and who should they not help?

  • @Chaoitcme serving in a war is a choice as you can always not join or desert. ur mother killing you is not a choice.

  • Love Bette. One of the rare TRUTHFUL & Honest stars to ever came thru hollywood.

She left a staggering legacy and was a great artist. Who cares about abortions? They're nobody's business.

  • I think she's a strong woman... yes she killed two of her baby but when time came, she gave birth to a daughter and adopted other 2. Great career, and life full of joy anyway

  • Wow. I'm not sure which disappoints me more: the fact that she killed two of her children, or that she was happy about it. A great actress. And a nauseating person.

"It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish."

    -Mother Teresa

  • the lady was Class and always was....halcyon days never to return...alas.

  • THE END OF THE WORLD IS ALMOST HERE!HOLY GOD WILL BRING JUDGMENT DAY ON MAY 21,2011...

  • @2011iam4god How embarassing for you...

  • I can tell that the abortion issue that her husband begged her to have caused a lot of turmoil deep inside.

  • One human egg cell and one human sperm, its a human. It was your life Bette may God Bless you. None of us are perfect.

  • She was a mess. A legend but a mess.

  • So its bad to sleep with someone before marriage....but ok to hava abortions? She really had it together?

  • @gcravillion Another one that didn't listen to what she said. Most of the idiots posting on here don't even know who she was!

  • Nothing comes by luck... she is a very intelligent woman

  • Bette will forever remain my all time favorite actress. Ones like here just don't come around that often.

    God bless you Bette!

  • How'd she get into such great shape?

    She would BETTY DAVIS-IIIIZE.....

  • She looks like she could be a rapper.

  • Is this the woman who has inspired "Bette Davis Eyes"?

Pretty sure of herself and a very strong character supported by years of experience of life. I like her, has a mind of her own and thinks, really important to think for yourself and to have basis and fundamented opinion of the world around you. Hate empty headed fools that go with the crowd and like because they like and hate just because they hate, a better world must be made of individuals that think for themselves...

  • @DR1ZERO Yes, this is the woman who inspired the song. She was a brilliant actress, and a clever, strong woman.

  • why the hell did i looked at this O: <_<

  • there's nothing wrong with morale. why do people always make it look bad?

i found it good that she would get married first. though the abortions i think were horrible. did she have any other children other than the two abortions?

  • @MissPopeyes22 I think she had 3. One had something wrong, not for sure what.

  • When I finally die someday, I'll know that I can rest in peace knowing that I didn't kill any fellow human beings for my selfish gains.

Good 'ol Betty can chalk up 2 easy kills on her score card! ...and did it so strategically too! ...and as a matter of fact! ....hmm...I wonder if they had "Betty Davis eyes"?

  • @surearrow Another idiot

  • uhh i disagree with that, im not getting into why just sayin

  • WOW!

There will NEVER and I do mean NEVER be another Legendary Bette Davis!

    NEVER!

All you so-called actresses could even carry her cigarette!

  • What a horrid (yes HORRID!), shallow soul she is. -Bye!

  • @surearrow I have no idea why you think she was horrid and shallow. She was straightforward and honest and by far one of the greatest, if not THE greatest actress of all time!

  • @bodyvegas >>>------> I have a dog that is also straight forward and honest, but she's still shallow and horrid at times! ...she can act too when she wants a treat, but you know, my dog has a good excuse for being that was, she's a dog!

  • @surearrow I agree in everything except abortion, if that is what you mean with being shallow I agree because she wanted "more", but besides that she is right

  • He was a Yankee!

    -

    Hilarious. . .

No sex outside of marriage, but, abortion for a career is ok?

Gotta love that Cheshire Cat called: morality

    -

How is Mike Wallace still alive?

  • @ReticentRex If you had listened, she didn't have the abortions for her career, she had them because her husband wanted her too - she said, he begged her.

  • @bodyvegas These assholes don't care about that...she's a terrible person because she had a d and c and got rid of some cells out of her body.

Jesus Christ women...what the fuck do you think your monthly period is? If you've had unprotected sex and then you have a period and there are CLOTS in the blood...THAT is a spontaneous abortion.

Until about six months gestation, a human fetus cannot survive and is not a viable human being.

    Sorry but that's just REALITY.

  • @bodyvegas

    If you had paid attention:

She wouldn't have sex 'outside' of marriage - blamed that on her mother.

She would 'abort' things - blamed that on her husband.

To the tuned ear, there's much to hear.

  • @ReticentRex Obviously you didn't hear it at all. She was a virgin until age 26. She did have 2 abortions - that her 1st husband begged her to have, so she did what he wanted! Listen to it again, and stopping spewing shit replies!

  • HAIRY BALLS!

  • What ever happened to baby jane? I love that movie so much <3 Thanks gosh for TCM, I love old movies.

  • Definitely some wisdom there.

  • /watch?v=F9XjYXj3Y0g

  • Dude! That was four-and-a-half minutes?! Was completely oblivious to the passage of time!

  • At age 26 she died and was buried in the "Pet cemetery" !

  • Comment removed

  • HA This woman is hard..."I outgrew him".

  • Wow! Bette was a PISTOL! I LOVE her! This is the first time I've seen her speaking candidly! She was something.

  • She's got BETTE DAVIS eyes! Lol i luv her! She's very straight forward.

  • Americans of such authority and class don't exist anymore. Shame!

  • @backto1960

It still exists a some people. Unfortunately those people by and large are not actors, singer or anyone in the public.

  • @backto1960 THIS BROAD HAS CLASS? SHE IS A HORRIBLE WOMAN

  • @sactowncr1minal your mum is a horrible woman.

  • @backto1960 They do, they just aren't the ones attracting the spotlight now-a-days.

  • She was nothing short of amazing not only as an actress, but as a person as well.

  • love bette davis def the best actree ever

  • I dont like Mike wallace`s style so cynic

  • The best actress off all time - R.I.P dear Bette

  • Love her hat.

  • Wow, how honest of Bette to confess to having 2 abortions on 60 Minutes. In her book,"This N That" she wrote that on her last film she contacted Kim Carnes who sang the song,"Bette Davis Eyes" and asked for T-shirts from her concert to give to the cast & crew.

  • she look here like susan sarandon ...dont you?

  • she is a vile woman

  • @AngeliaClaire Well at least it seems you two have something in common then.

  • Even at this age the woman has more beauty and grace than any 20 year old.

    She is magical to watch!

  • abortion is murder,i can hold my head up high and say ive never had an abortion and never will.

  • @thecherylmay nobody cares

  • @senoramariposa did i say anyone cares.

  • @thecherylmay on that, it seems, we agree

  • @senoramariposa on that it seems we do and nobody cares what you think,on that in sure you will agree also.

  • @senoramariposa on that it seems we do.im sure you will agree that noone cares what you think.

  • @thecherylmay Yes, and other women who have had abortions or will have them in the future can also hold their heads up since just because YOU say it's murder doesn't make it true.

    You are an idiot.

    FUCK YOU AND YOUR RELIGION.

  • @patriotgirl65 im not religious i care about human life and if you cant reply without being horrid dont reply at all.

  • @thecherylmay No you don't care about human life...you care about cells that after nine months might become human life.

You have the nerve to chastise me for being "horrid"? What do you think your comment is?

Since you have such a problem with a legal medical procedure that unless it is you having it IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, why don't you move to a theocracy where "government" is ruled by "religion" and men are in control of women's bodies? Bahrain is nice this time of year.

  • @patriotgirl65 have i touched a nerve.

  • @thecherylmay Yes you've touched the nerve of someone who, while I have never had an abortion, and never will have one since I had my tubes tied almost 25 years ago now, feels that IT'S NO ONES BUSINESS WHETHER OR NOT I HAD AN ABORTION. So you have no right to smugly comment about being able to "hold your head up high".

Ms Bette had no problem holding her head up high, and if you knew anything about her at all you'd know that she did what was best for everyone involved at the time. Nuff said.

  • @patriotgirl65 by the way i have given birth to three children two of them was very prem are they cells then seeing that i didnt carry them for the whole nine month, even tho they are 18 now.befor you comment make sure you make sence.i feel so sorry for you,you have so much anger in you.

  • @thecherylmay No, you are just a dumb bitch who thinks that everyone who doesn't believe the way you believe is a piece of shit

That's the thing about Bette Davis...she didn't give a shit what you or anybody else thought of her personal life. It was her life and she lived it the best way she could for herself.

Ms. Bette held her head up high just fine without the approval of judgmental LOSERS like you.

And was her husband a bastard for DEMANDING that she have the abortions, hmmm?

  • @patriotgirl65 i feel so sorry for you,you have so much anger in you.i hope the future is bright for you and you find peace.

  • @thecherylmay Well then, why does her having an abortion offend you so much. That wasn't a child she aborted, that was a *potential* life. The religious and misinformed are the only ones that think life begins at the instant of conception...

  • @gloomilyeuphoric it was a life a human life, ive got my view youve got yours.by the way im not reiigious.

  • @gloomilyeuphoric ive given birth to three children one was 3 month early and the other was two, when they was in scbu there was a child that was 4 month early.

  • @thecherylmay You've had children, fantastic! That doesn't have anything to do with anything, really. Well, actually it does.... it makes you incredibly biased on the issue, but that's it.

Like I said, the only ones who think life beings the instant after conception are the MISINFORMED and the religious. Where do you fit in there? You're simply ignorant of when all that potential baby material actually becomes a feeling thinking human being.

  • @gloomilyeuphoric thankyou for saying its fantastic that ive had children as it is they are my world.i pity you hope you find peace as you are a very sad and angry person.

  • @thecherylmay Simply because I'm in support of Abortion due to the reason I mentioned (it's not really a baby at that point, it's POTENTIAL baby material) I'm an angry person who need to find peace?

How transparent... You can't present a valid and non-emotionally charged point so you've decided to make very very rude comments about me and my character (of which you know absolutely nothing about). I think maybe instead of 'peace', you should find some concrete facts about the subject.

  • @gloomilyeuphoric have i called you once no,you have been towards me so whos the rude one and who nees to find peace, and the answer isnt me.

  • @thecherylmay No, i'm sorry, but that's just not true... please reread our little conversation

You are the one who attacked me, actually. You were reacting very emotionally when I made my point that the FACT is it's not a baby from the instant of conception, and the only people who think life begins at conception are misinformed or religious. That was all that I said.

Please explain where you felt attacked...

  • @gloomilyeuphoric you are the one that attacked me first you messaged me first.i left me comment about me view on abortions.why did you message me to try and change my fiew i replyed in a adult manner with how i feel about abortions.

  • @thecherylmay What is this, opposite day? lol

No, no, no, me replying to your comment... that's posted on a video open for public viewing... on a public forum (youtube is not only a place to submit videos, but also discuss their content and your personal views about their content) absolutely does NOT qualify as an attack.

ONCE AGAIN, I'm asking you specifically where I attacked you?

  • @thecherylmay And WOULD YOU PLEASE revisit the original point discussion instead of trying to put the focus elsewhere because you don't have a valid and non-emotional argument to make?

Why are you so offended by Bettie having an abortion if you're not religious OR ignorant of the scientific facts on the matter. She isn't a baby-killer...

  • @gloomilyeuphoric no no no no,is it opposite day lol.your just making me laugh now.hope you have a good day.like i said ive got my view youve got yours.

  • @thecherylmay

You're wrong about condemning this woman for doing what she did because she wasn't ending a life, but rather than admitting that, you've decided to insult me and laugh. It's not a 'your views and my views' kind of situation because the scientific facts aren't a view, they are fact.

I pity you, actually. I pity you for being uninformed and totally ignorant of such an important issue in America today. It's thinking like yours that are impeding the rights of women everywhere.

  • @gloomilyeuphoric you pity me ha ha ha ha ha ha.like i said you do make me laugh.ill repeat what i said befor youve got your view ive got mine.

  • @thecherylmay

Would you please just discuss the topic instead of shifting the focus again? It makes it appear as though you've got nothing of any interest to say about the subject...

  • @gloomilyeuphoric if you want to get into a row youve picked the wrong person, ill repeat youve got my view youve got yours.have a good day.practice what you preach thats the last thing im going to say to you.bye

  • @thecherylmay IT'S NOT ABOUT ARGUING, THAT'S THE PLACE YOU TOOK IT TO! It's about what you know is right and wrong and standing up for that view.

I understand, you've got nothing. That was why you insulted my character out of the blue, and are totally unable of providing a good reason why it's wrong. Since you've made it clear you're not religious, I'll assume you're just misinformed, then.

You have these 'views' that are different than mine, huh? What are they? Why are mine wrong?

  • @thecherylmay And WTF does 'practice what you preach' have to do with anything?!

Like, are you serious? Did you think that little cliche would make you sound right without actually stating what it is you think about Abortion? It doesn't apply to anything that was said.

    Really strange...

  • @gloomilyeuphoric no no thats just not true you reread our little conversation.make what you like about my reply if you want to make out i was emotionally so be it.if i was or was not it wasnt done in a angry way.please explain to me why you felt the need to call and attacked me.

  • @thecherylmay You can copy what I've said in past replies all you'd like, but there was absolutely no attack or even rude words used in ANY of my replies. I will copy and paste the part where you insult my character and acted as if you knew something about me as a person.

"i pity you hope you find peace as you are a very sad and angry person." <- THAT RIGHT THERE is where you more emotional than logical and insulted me because I challenged your view of abortions, and made you think.

  • @gloomilyeuphoric i hope you do find peace did i say it was anything to do with your view no.your just making me laugh now.

  • @thecherylmay

"I hope you do find peace" And there you go, again, acting as though you know about me as a person based on replies on a video on Youtube. Darling, just admit that you don't like the idea of abortion persoanlly, but have no legitimate or solid argument for it other than emotions...

You act like you're right in your viewpoint, I'm asking you WHY? Explain to me why it's wrong...

  • @gloomilyeuphoric sorry your just making me laugh so much im suprised i can type, youve made my day with giving me a good laugh.bye

  • @thecherylmay Yeah, yeah, you've said that.

I'm beginning to think you don't have any valid argument of why abortion is wrong... make a point, say something intelligent, prove me wrong since you believe you're right.

  • @seonidh well i guess thats a virtue but what about aborting her first 2 children so she can pursue her career?

Well bakaotaku if youre going to say something like that you should have kept your comment up. Really two abortions is nothing these days lets just say she was a modern woman, a star, a devoted mother and adopted two children. We all make mistakes and Bette was no exception. She admitted that and got on with her life. I say pro choice is the best choice after all its her body.

  • she`s got Bette Davis eyes.......
