@emptypocketsSOTN They are two different things but they both use funny time signatures. Mathrock will be more rocky whereas math core will be more like other types of metalcore e.g. screamo vocals, heavier sound etc.
There's nothing horrible about the word "genre". Most people just get way too cock hard over it. They see it as a game, like they're adding to their collection of tastes. Genres are much better used as adjectives than labels in my opinion. And should only be used when the person using it knows what they're talking about. I.E. If you don't listen to alot of black metal, don't go around saying a ton of things sound like black metal.
reminds me of fear before the march of flames - 'whiskey is alright in its place, but its place is in hell' for a bit there. but that's an awesome thing :)
@defygravity280 Mathcore isn't fictitious. It when the use of odd time signitures are used not the standard 4/4 and the like. the Math is a joke because the of the numbers involved. But your point is valid nonetheless about the pointless naming of genres.
@defygravity280 Mathcore and progressive are no-where near identical. Listen to this, and then listen to Dream Theater and tell me they're in anyway similar.
