  • my superoneclick is not responding

  • how do i unroot the phone ?

  • i did the instructions and i think my phone has been rooted, but the colour of my screen has faded dramatically.. is there a way to get it back to its original colouring? :S

  • @DietC

i'm having the same problem, did you manage to fix it?

  • HELP! i did all the steps up to the start of the root and it said fail, thanks

  • Need assistance, i downlaoded the lastest version of superoneclick v2.2 and when i click root is says killing acb server but then says failed and is trying on port 5037 then it says daemon started successfully or something then freezes and doesnt continue on like yours in the video. help?

  • HELP!, sometimes my screen becomes really white saturated, and i have to re-boot it to take it away, what is this? any help?

  • I followed not this tutorial but I did exactly the same thing, right up to the Superoneclick (SOC) everything went without a hitch, but SOC hung for a long time and ultimately nothing happened. I have the yellow triangle, my kernel and baseband match up (Both KG2), and SU asks for and grants access to root only apps, titanium, ROM Manager etc..., but flashing ROMs fails. Running a root test shows I have root but cannot flash ROMs...care to wager why this occurs??

  • @HaidaD You don't even need root to flash a ROM.

  • NOW MY PHONE WONT TURN ON

  • I had two coms come up in odin, one failed one suceeded...i continued, it didnt show an exclamtion mark on my screen and when I went on oneclick it froze (not responding)

WHAT DO I DO, Get back to me ASAP PLEASE

  • thanks man, you helped me a lot!!!

  • Hey guys, I did everything as explained in the video but when i press the start button, it says fail after a while.... could you please help me as to why thats happening??!! much appreciate your help....

  • what does reboot mean?

  • does rooting it delete apps already on my phone?

  • i dont get it.. when i use odin it stuck somewhere half way on progrees for ages. Why i cant do anything?

  • How do you unroot?

  • what do i do when get "1 succeeded / 1 failed" in odin, and my phone doesnt start up

  • it works my phone is rooted thanks to you!

but i only see now when i reboot the phone a yellow "!" warning logo

    is that normal ?

  • Great vid!

  • Couldn't get SuperOneclick to work because I'm on gingerbread 2.3.3 samsung G2 so i used S2 Root and it worked! :)

  • super one click doesn't work it seems, it's stuck during step 6. what a shame

  • @Vlad88667 happened to me me because i have gingerbread 2.3.3. instead i downloaded 'S2 Root' and continued from the restart after insecure.tar flash..stage. worked like a charm.

  • that is very disappointing ....i have rung network and they blocked my sim not the phone...i had installed an app which will continously ring for 1 minute when i text a particular phrase .. but without my sim its useless .. i really like this phone .. and i might get another one soon .. but i would like to know of any app which helps to trace phone incase i look it again ... that doesnt mean i m gonna loose my phone again lol ... thx for replying mattj

  • i have lost my samsung g s2 ... someone broke into my car and nicked it .... i had reported to police and he said there isnt much he can do ... i was wondering wouldnt they be able to trace phone using apps that automatically runs when u boot up ur phone such as IM, Gmail, Facebook which would leave IP address if its connected to a network.

  • @willseleven1 First phone your network, have the phone blocked. Secondly, claim on your car insurance, if you're fully comp. you should get all your money for the stolen phone back, though it does depend on your insurance provider. The police are right though, there is little they can do for you. There are trace apps but they all need to be installed before the phone is stolen then activated on a computer to track the phone, none of them are any use once the phone has already been stolen. Sorry.

  • My superoneclick is not responding. I'm doing exactly as you are and it's waiting for my device until it's not responding.

  • Superoneclick keeps crashing at step 6. I have tried redownloading the files numerous times along with restarting my computer and phone to try and fix the problem. Any other suggestions?

  • @Kj112 carry on after the kernel flash...but use 'S2 ROOT' instead of superoneclick.

  • Uhh, superoneclick crashed in the middle of the rooting. Is this bad?

  • I really like how you present your tutorials. Very clear, calm and "noob" friendly :)

I am going to be attempting to root my girlfriends Nexus S, Hopefully I am successful lol. I just wished the other tutorials here on youtube were as clear and well presented as yours.

Great Job Mate, Keep it up.

  • I got a question...I have GB 2.3.3..I installed Kies...But I dont get any option to install USB drivers in Kies...Can someone help? (I use Mac)

  • @LikableDesi Kies installs the USB drivers as part of it's own installation process. You don't need to do anything.

  • @mattj101101 Thank you for ur quick response. BTW great videos 5 Starts!

  • Thanks dude! It's Rooted perfectly!

  • is unrooting the SGS2 as simple as pressing the UnRoot button on SuperOneClick? and do you know if it will work on the new secured SGS2?

  • Hi Matt,

It appears that I cannot get the downloaded file: XWKDD_insecure.tar

I tried to get free software but it didnt seem to work. Will I need to buy software such as winzip to actually download the file properly? Every thing else worked perfectly per your number one and two explanatory vids.

Thanks for any help you can offer

    Cheers Geoff

  • Superoneclick is stuck on step #6! What should I do?!

  • @floppytheelephant me too...what the heck is going on?

  • how do you get the crt lockscreen??

  • Hello,

thx for your video. I would like to ask if this is really all one have to do to root the sgs2? I mean, i read other threads where there was a "flash" part before the "root" part. But maybe the flash is including in the root part in your video?...

  • @eatherquake The flash part is referring to flashing the insecure kernel, this is included in my guide :)

  • @mattj101101 thx :)

  • not working too get it from the webpage you talking aboute.. no post like that on the forum how do i find it when its not on the forum?

  • Will rooting affect the display language? I've just updated my Galaxy s2 to get arabic language in it, will using the insecure kernel affect this?

  • @AZEENKM No. The kernel has nothing to do with the languages that are installed as far as I'm aware.

  • mine stops/freezes just before asking for busybox, everytime, why does it do that? i tried to disable firewall and antivirus- it didnt help

i can see busybox is in /Dependencies lib....

  • my avg anti virus on phone said one of the files were infected when i tried to reboot at the end.

  • @willseleven1 Erm, I can't promise it's not infected but I highly doubt it. But I take no responsibility for what you choose to download. All I can say is the files I downloaded were fine.

  • matt can u please make a video of how to reverse/unroot galaxy s2 please?

  • @willseleven1 Just reflash a standard samsung firmware...

  • Very nice explain, thanks a lot mate...

    Greetings

  • THE LAST TEST FAILED, WHAT TO DO ?? Need awnser quick.

  • @Torkil1961 Try the whole process again, redownload the files, one's probably corrupted.

  • After rooting my phone will i be able to upgrade to a newer android version when it is released by samsung? Thanks *I'm rooting just to get rid of the camera shutter sound*

  • @snowmann4 Shutter sound remove in KF2. Also, probably not. Unless you flash a newer version of your network firmware or change your CSC

  • EVRYBODY!!! THE DRIVERS ARE NAMED "KIES" NOT "KEYS"

  • @bannanadk If you're going to shout at my other commenters, shout about something you're right about. The drivers are in fact not called Kies, the Samsung PC software is called Kies, which when installed, also installs the phone's USB drivers. Saying that, you are correct about the spelling of, "Kies".

  • Hi matt, I just Root my SGS2 ;-) Now I was wondering what next after the rooting? I got the icon SUPERUSER but at the moment I can't do anything. Any advises or maybe new video about it. Thanks!

  • @Ventcis Try watching my Root Apps videos, might give you some good ideas mate :)

  • THANK YOU for this video. It showed a bunch of missing steps that I was told on how to upgrade my firmware with Odin.

  • @alphadog1x Thanks for watching :D!

  • hellow, very well explained indeed, but one question however...at the end of this film you say you can reboot the phone, but in what way? just shut down completely and than restart it manually by pushing the on/off?

  • Hi, i got to the point where the phone should re-boot itself and all i have is the green battery charging icon on the screen. It did not re-boot at all. Any ideas?

  • @mattj101101 hi matt i have a problem. i have rooted with odin but i would like to unroot because my handset is faulty as regarding the lighting so i will be having it replaced.problem is i do not know how to reset it or unroot it.could you help please

  • @matrixtjoannou26 Reflash your network (or stock Samsung if your phone was originally unlocked), firmware, that'll remove root and reinstall an official kernel in the process.

  • @mattj101101 cheers mate i found a stock rom on the xda site and with regarding the kernel i could not find a stock one. and how do i know which is mine? sorry all confusing to me. i know a noob.

  • @mattj101101 where can get the official kernel?

  • good job. nice tut and easy to understand and follow =D

    sub 2 you ;D

  • @CrazyPuller Thanks for the feedback :D!

  • @patix1995 You'll need an app called root explorer to access the system files, but don't do it unless you know what you're doing. You should also have acquired an app called SuperUser this allows you to approve or deny apps SuperUser permissions, this is your most basic, but important, root feature.

  • @mattj101101 oh, thank you. I knew about the SuperUser and stuff, but the only reason I rooted my Android is to turn off the camera sound-.-

  • @mattj101101 I have another problem though. I ran Astro File Manager to rename the camera sounds, but it says unsufficient permissions. I went in to SU, but it said no apps in list. I also had SU open while trying to rename them...

  • Odin doesn't detect the phone, what do I do?

  • @patix1995 Have you installed Kies?

  • @mattj101101 Yeah, I figured i didn't have it installed on my computer... but where do I access system folder and stuff, I see no difference except for a that warning sign on boot...

  • thanks dude!!!

  • It's really easy to unroot your device, just reflash your stock samsung/network firmware. It'll remove root without using SuperOneClick :)

  • Any idea how to reverse this process safely? I've gotten as far as clicking "unroot" on the SuperOneClick software but not sure what to do about the kernel. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers

  • thank man

  • thank man

  • just one thing, when you boot up ur gs2 after flashing the rootkernel, and the yellow exclamation mark pops up, will the mark stay on the screen and phone wont boot up? or will the phone pass the exclamation mark and boot up after few secs or so?

  • @Finman757 It should boot up fine, it shouldn't take any longer than the stock kernel, the exclamation mark should disappear when the phone boots up past the start up screen. You won't see it in day to day operation of the phone, just when you turn it on. If your phone isn't booting re-flash the stock firmware...

  • @mattj101101 ok thanks :) and you can get rid of the exclamation mark with USB Jig?

  • @Finman757 Yes, it'll also reset the custom binary counter, mine's already in double figures :P I've ordered one and I'll do a video on how to use it as and when it arrives, should be before the end of the week. Just as a warning though I have A-Level exams all week so if it doesn't get done, I'm just incredibly busy ;)

  • @mattj101101 yea no prob same here =) just wasn't sure about the exclamation mark :) but thx anyway =D

  • @Finman757 I'm glad I could help :)

  • do i remove usb debugging mode after ive restarted ?

  • @davidhagglund You can do but it's not essential, the phone won't sync with Kies in debugging mode but I leave it on as I hate Kies (it's ridiculously buggy) and do all my flashing via Odin instead :)

  • @mattj101101 Allright! Thank you..

  • Thank you very much for this guide.I have some questions before I actually do this.

When do you actually plug in the usb to computer? After you put the phone in download mode or before?

You said Kies is needed, but you never opened it up. So do you just install and thats it or do you sync the phone before the process?

So if there is a risk of bricking your phone is it because you do something wrong or are you just the unlucky guy?

I'll like ur 3 vids and subscribe right away! thanks again.

  • @MegaRooster19

    1) After the phone is in download mode you THEN plug it in to the computer

    2) Kies is simply there for the USB drivers that it auto-installs, you never need to open the program.

    3) Unless you a) pull the USB cable mid kernel write b) let your phone run out of battery mid kernel write or c) let your laptop run out of battery mid kernel write (if you're using a laptop), then no I can't think how it would get bricked

hope that answers all your questions :)

  • @mattj101101

    It does :) Cheers

  • @MegaRooster19 Actually I did sync with Kies 1st, but it's not necessary I just did it to see what Kies was really haha :D
