That's the only reason I've disliked since the first game! The menu system! Wouldn't many of you prefer First Person or Third Person without turn-based options. The one with the most was FFX that was like a variant of Pokemon where you had all the time in the world to choose your attack! This one may be three attacks in one, but it's still turn based.

@Lordmeats I would recomend Final Fantasy 7-10 before trying it's prequel. the original isn't what you would the most favorable entry in the single player final fantasies. I think 10 is a good entry point to get a fell for the modern Final Fatasy design, and the characters in X are vastly more appealing. in XIII there are a couple who will get on your nerves. not that they are bad characters it's just they were either poorly cast or badly writen for the type of character they wanted.

I've done a little reading on the earlier ones, and it seams like they are different versions of the same thing, saving crystals, but are they in any way connected to each other. I know people recommend to start with a newer one, but is there still any kind of connection in the story? If not, is it even the same planet?

@PrivateKeehl each number entry in the series represent a new planet, a new story, and new characters. they don't go entry to entry. they share themes however each one is different from the other. which is why I suggested FFX because it represents the more modern design of final fantasy. you will see refrences to previous entries as well as monsters from previous entries. although XIII was the first to have completly new monster design from it's previous entries.

VI/III, VII, VIII, IX, and X are everyone's favorites, for good reason, they're the best the Universe (Final Fantasy Universe that is) has created. Frankly I find this video a little obnoxious, I was hoping for a quick informative look at gameplay from the closest thing to a final product. I'll also admit that I'm disappointed, game looks like a replica of the last, graphics are jaw dropping, gameplay's mediocre. Probably won't rush out to buy this one. Hey, I wasn't really into to these types of games, but I have an open mind so I bought FF13 as people recommended me. The FF veterans said it was too linear, but I enjoy it all the same. I am currently on Chapter 7 of FF13, and I do plan to finish it. Been playing for 13 hours, the longest time I've ever spent on one single campaign, and I will be getting the sequel.

To the veterans, what is the best FF to you guys? And I'm also thinking about Kingdom Hearts. Which one should I play?
