  • So far, i like the american VCRs because, the European VCRs only do SP/LP, while ours in America and Japan do SP/LP/EP.

  • Does your VCR have Y2K when trying to time record? My Canon the earlier model, 720, has that meaning I can only set the date for 1/1/86 to 12/31/99.

  • I just bough a near mint CANON VR-HF720 on Ebay!!! Now hopefully I won't have to manually enable or disable the Hi-Fi function on my VCR when recording. Canon's couldn't lock into the hifi signal so a lot of tapes have video and no audio unless you disable the Hi-Fi when watching, so anotherwards when transfering tapes to dvd I have to sit there and watch them. This is the case with Sony Hi-Fi VCR's. I really wanted this model instead, because it is the exact same machine but made 1 yr later.

  • @willdav713 Can You make a video of it.

i think you can set the audio to mono if the hifi does not work.

mine still works good the only thing is that it gets hot after playing for an hour. i don't know if thats normal of not. these canon vcrs where made by panasonic

  • The VCR almost all of my 80s commercials, CNN 80s politics (some) were recorded from my grandad's collection. That VCR was the shiznet!! In Fall of 1990 it was taken to a repair shop after recording 300 tapes for cleaning, and the repair man couldn't find the pieces for it. (To this day, I think the repair shop stole it). He then bought 2 VCR's and a new JVC TV for the guest room, one of them was a JVC VCR and the other one a Zenith and that was the only one he had with manual gain control.

  • They made VCRs? Wow..
