I'm really excited about this but if they want to make it a bit more everyone friendly and weatherproof a full chain guard would be a brilliant idea, maybe even a skirt guard, however this would add to the price, I will be using the cycle scheme as soon as it comes out

You dont have to wear safety equitment in the uk if you dont want to. Also cycling in parks (which are shared paths) is completely legal, appart from the fact that the highway code is different for shared paths. Who told you off?
