Hoodoo's are THE best! We saw them once in San Fran in about 86 or 87 at the Filmore, Red Cross opened for them (my DH still tries to fling his hair around like those guys ~ to bad he doesn't have hair anymore)
It's a sin and a shame that so few people, especially in The States, know about these guys. One of the greatest unsung bands ever. The Gurus were...are incredible.
I was in a band from Joplin,Mo. (Missionaries) and we opened for these cats at the Regency Showcase in Springfield, Mo. back in the 80's. They were so nice and fun. Let us eat their food backstage!!
and probably the best thing about this band is that brad the guitarist was doing the girl/s in the bangles (yes there was rumours he was actually doing 2 out of the 4)........legend!!!!!!!
I know they toured with the Bangles for a couple years back then (well, long enough to come thru my area twice. I saw both shows) at the first show, I got hit in the face by the sweat flying off The Bangles' Drummer, but my best memory of the night was this song.
the best band in the world ever..big statement, but if you have had the pleasure of seeing them, you know what im talking about..soundtrack to my (and thousands of others) youth....
Thanks to you for posting this as well as to the others who have posted it.
As an American who graduated from high school in 1982 and went to college during the mid-80s, I have to say that all the best music from those days came from Australia. I'm not sure why it turned out that way, but dangit, you Aussies had it going back then.
Thank you for the kind words. The main reason why the ozrock scene was healthy during the 70's and 80's was because there were a lot of live venues and to a further extent; a flexible government that was able to support developing talent. That was then...
This is the kind of song you want to turn up to 11.
