good show reel one critique is that is quite dark in your scenes so u dnt get to see much of the character, btrighten it up and show them of man they are really good models
that's awesome. I have been looking for downloads for different 3d character software, but maya seems to be a lost cause to find. did you draw out all of the designs in front side and back view first, or do them free hand? and are there any usefull tutorials about how photoshop and other programs tie into all this lol?
Thanks alot, i found a free trial for maya but i will definitely look for blender. and just a quick question so i don't spend hours trying to figure out how to word this in a search engine to get results lol, how do you put the character models in the background that i see on alot of the tutorial videos? and if you don't mind answering one more, where is the first place you start?
well your stuff is pretty kick ass man. one thing though. get rid of the dark background you lose so much detail by doing so. try using a simple gray or a gradient if you are not creating an enviroment. trust me it would look even better
Well, no luck this time. The company was Midway games in Chicago. They liked my work, but someone else got job. I'm working on improving my reel now. Get these models textured and have a better presentation.
I use 3d studio Max, Maya, Zbrush and Photoshop the most.
After Effects to put the movie together, like this demoreel.
I'm learning Flash now, so I can make a cool looking website later on.
I'm also learning Fruity Loops music program, I made the song on this reel. I don't know much about composing music, but it's fun to at least make something original.
I plan to get some of my 3D models in to a custom Mugen game. I'm getting pretty good with the programming for that.
Thanks, I use 3dsMax, Maya, Zbrush and Photoshop the most.
I'm working on making a better reel though. I made this one so I can have something to show while I get better work done. I need to have some photo real texturing, better camera shots, wire frames, etc.
This simple one has worked pretty well for me. I got an interview at one of my favorite game companies just a few days after posting this online. So that's pretty cool. Now to see if I'm lucky enough to get my dream job!
Are you sure the character at 1:26 isn't Sabretooth, of Marvel?
Cause he looks a awful lot like him . . . .

@8CaptainHowdy It's Sabertooth, you can see a better picture on my deviant art gallery. Link is in the video description.

@crazygtotheberty agreed, I was thinking about putting another one together soon. This one got a lot darker with the youtube compression.

It's free, and as far as I know the closest thing to 3ds.max or Maya.

You can find other programs that are very good for free. Check out Blender 3D for example. Very good program, I use it too.
If you don't have Photoshop, try one called Gimp. It's the closes one to Photoshop I've found for free.
Most of the models I make are done free hand. I'll do a few quick sketches on paper if I need an idea.
I like to compare my models to photos of real people for anatomy.
There are many tutorials on the internet.

Also "setting up reference images in Maya or blender"
