  • This sounds as fine as the 70s recording of the same piece of music, I believe it was Pentangle with both of these perfectionists. fantastic.

  • Her voice was all about purity and an almost emotionless form of singing in Pentangle. As if she were another instrument. Her voice has deepened and she imparts more feeling into her interpretation. Both styles are wonderful. It's wonderful to see how she's transitioned. He, as always plays guitar, brilliantly. Thanks for posting this.

  • Love JR's subtle inflections and nuances...the main man imo...

  • the lyrics, voice and guitar are pure magic !!

  • Renbourn is hard to top as a fingerpicker...

  • extremely awesome.

  • Tx for this.. But I must say one thing..The fancy blues solo in the middle, should be left out.. The simplicity of this song is what makes it so beautiful..

    P-Cat

  • Disagree with that...its not really a solo...but a lovely extension of the song which doesnt jangle when her voice comes back in...he is one of the finest acoustic folk guitarists of his generation...complex and technically perfect without being flash...deceptively simple....but maybe us guitarists just want to hear more playing!

  • @wingandaprayer "deceptively simple"... right... Man, you are a *master* of understatement. Back when I thought I could play guitar, I tried to play some of Renbourn's stuff, just like I tried to play some of Fahey's. I finally quit, and spent my time doing something I was actually good at. I was a lot happier after that.

  • @jwpretd thanks...I have won many prizes for my understatements.[and yes, thats we folks in Scotland call irony!]..!...however, youve hit on the key to being a contented and hopefully, an interesting, player...dont try to copy, take out the heart and bones then make it your own..

John wont mind, thats what he and every other musician worth their salt has been doing, forever..

  • @ThePeacefulCat The instrumental bit is awesome, as are both Renbourn and McShee.

  • Love Jacqui McShee since the late 60s.

    Great voice!

    Thanks for posting.........

  • So good to see that they've still got it after all these years. Beautiful! Thanks for this one. I'll take certainly dullsville's wise advice (below).

  • Lovely to hear two legends of English folk music together.

Jaquie's voice has always been perfection. John is just a legend.awesome.

  • Watch this over your first coffee...a sweet way to start your day

  • mUsical talent is like a collectible grand wine they only get better in age that applies for this two wonderful artists which were among my favorites with Pentangle ! Thanks a lot for this beautiful song !

  • Nice, very nice.

    Thanks for posting.
