Awesome video! I was shocked to here about Meridith. But like you said about woman and hiding in the closet. Afraid to come out early in life due to what is shoved in their face as to what should be. In high school I started having feelings for my best friend. It scared me at that time, so I just shoved my feelings in the closet. If you're not in the freaking bed with that person, it's none of your freaking business. I don't understand why people don't get that. we only know what we know. I can see why it would take her this long. You are wise not to allow yourself to get upset over things you cannot change - but you do change things. The more you let people get to know you as a likeable, interesting, intelligent and NONTHREATENING person, the more straight people will understand that it's okay. We fear the unknown, so the more gay people we know as just regular folks, the less we fear. Sorry to be so long, I hope it makes sense.

(2) I'm straight, but I had one gay relative, so I'm fine with it. Some of my family and friends are not, but that's them. Some of my best friends are gay :)

I know, always easier said than done. But I will tell you, that I had a destructive familial relationship for THIRTY-SIX years that I ended this past February (from the age of 2-38).

I PHYSICALLY felt a weight lift from my heart. I walked away and NEVER looked back, the peace in my heart about this person now is such a reward compared to the grief & humiliation I suffered at their hands.

I don't miss her & I feel no remorse for my decision. I know it's not always easy.
