  • what is youre lap time?

  • omg! You guys are insane, you almost crashed at 100 mph and you immediately laugh about it! Awesome!

  • I expected it to understeer, what happened?

  • PSA Reaction!

  • Jesus wept..

  • Why did it let go? Did you have low tyre pressure on the OSR?

It lets go very early into the bend.

Does she call her dad a dufus?

    Good catch though!

  • You lucky bastards... :)

  • i have zx this thing hppend to me 3 times in less speed i know this is the best car there is no other car can get you out of case like this the whiegt of the divided good

  • @naorfromisraeldesert if it happened to you the same thing 3 times it means that you understood NOTHING about what is DRIVING. that guy was ONLY LUCKY. i made no countersteer(not enough) and the car was saved only because had front wheel on gravel and rear on tarmac when sliding.

  • the driver shouldnt have gone out the car like that, thats pretty dangerous and stupid todo that 0_0 i have been to the ring quite alot and you got to focus 100% of the time, this track will make u pay if you take as a joke... respect the track next time you fairies!!

  • Dad, what's that smell? It's me darling. I've just done a bundle:(

  • I used to have one of these. I loved it but it wasn't a sports car.

  • Are you still with the girlfriend?????????????

  • @workshop77777

    Yes... lol

  • Nice

  • i have watched this video 20 times!! if only i had this guys driving skills i would of have saved my first zx.. love the zx so much though , that now i am fixing-upgrading my THIRD zx!!! check out my 2 videos... if u want .. ;-)

  • @pinky94xenos Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately this car has now gone to heaven.. It was replaced with a Ford Fiesta! :-(

But I did have a strange fondness for his car (It was my girlfriend's father's) after this weekend at the ring ;-)

  • @pinky94xenos

I'm afraid there is NO driving skills in this video, he just made a terrible mistake (quite common) : lift off oversteer in fuchsrohre, and then didn't even countersteer... just rubbish LOL

  • i have watched this video 20 times!! if only i had this guys skills i would of have saved my first zx.. love the zx so much that now i am fixing-upgrading my THIRD zx!!!

  • Well held!

  • How fast were you guys going?

  • Love it!! The ZX is brilliant - fab ride and very well balanced through corners - excellent steering - however .... This is typical ZX - take something too quickly and it punishes!! I spun my ZX on a roundabout - however they do spin very neatly! Needless to say the suspension was altered when the Xsara came out!

  • Awesome!

  • And driving away, to the right on the racingline. Idiot.

  • fuck me i shat myself when you done that i wasnt expecting it haha

  • Did ye get married to this girl in the end ??

  • Did ye get married to this girl in the end ??

  • what citroen is that??? what zx version??? Im thinking to buy one the 1.4i gassoline... I would like to find the volcane but I think is too much for a first car....

    Opinions plz

  • Ha, I had one of these in van format. You were mad to be hitting 90 in that around the ring.

  • i just got a zx turbo diesel for 350 pounds and it surprised me how much power its got for a diesel i got it on the motorway and went from 70mph to 120mph in a few seconds and i love the turbo noise it really sounds like a petrol rather than a diesel u just have to remember it is a diesel when u go to fill it up otherwise u will have made a very costly mistake indeed and citroen ride comfort is superb u can fly over pot holes and not even notice them great little car

  • Ouaaaaaa... Quelle vitesse astronomique...

  • wow great video, I crashed a ZX turbo diesel into a stone wall a few years ago when the back end came round like that, I got a week in the Hotel NHS and a pin in my femeur for that,. The big heavy diesel engine and light rear end don't make a very balanced motor, still didn't stop me buying another. Went round the Nring on my bike last year.

  • "blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaady heeeeeellllll" hahaha

  • Dont lift off in a turn!!!

  • You guys were laughing all over the place, but in fact you were rrrreaally lucky you didn't end up in the hospital. Don't underestimate the danger of the Nurburgring! Now you know why ;-) Hopefully your car hasn't bent rims or something due to the high sideways speed hitting the kerbs.

  • haha

  • fucking puppets

  • hahaha wonderful :D

  • Today's lesson: don't lift off, even SLIGHTLY mid corner :)

  • JESUS WEPT

  • Absolutely brilliant! Glad you guys were ok!

  • fuuucking hell, that was savage, and VERY nicely held together, well done!

  • I was ready for this as was told it was a close one, but it was the corner at 2:30 which I was expecting it to happen.

  • superb - you guys sound like you had a right laugh! nice car control too.

  • you are a lucky guy ;-)

  • that's probably one of the fastest sections of the track with a MEAN compression/dip in it as well.

You all were VERY lucky there...!

  • Bloody excellent :D. Jolly boys' outing

  • very lucky and good reaction. Because the fronts were on the grass, he had less resistance there and the car "evened" out. If that hadn't been the case, he'd hit that barrier at a lethal speed...

  • Nice driving, pal!

  • oh my god just watching this not expecting that, lovely car control tho. How the hell did you laugh so quickly? i wud ave bin terrified! wats the fastest time you got on the nurberg ring cos i want to take my zx round it soon?

  • I went around in a very scared 12 mins approx after. You can get sub 10 in a standard zx with sensational driving, and much much faster if well modified.

  • happy birthday!

  • what?? Happy birthday??

  • Jesus christ, never seen this one mate hahah, aah best, that's mental. Go do it in the 320 :P

  • Just watched this again. Gotta love the bloke saying "weeh hey!"

  • Absoloutly amazing save there ol' chum.

  • never brake on a turn....

  • i was just thinking that :-P

  • well held but his lift of must of been pretty unprogressive use of the throttle. Needed to balance the car there with mimimal throttle. As soon as you lift off the weight shifts forward as the engine braking kicks in shifting the weight forward.

  • She's not so cute as to warrent death. Lets pop anouther, shall we?

  • WHAT A spiffing drive!

  • Jesus! I fancy doing the ring but I keep on seeing this kind of thing.quality video thanks

  • Defo lift off oversteer as you can hear the diesel engine go quiet mid bend.

  • C'est l'essieux arrière auto directionnel qui fait des siennes.

  • LIFTED OFF! @ 100 mph not good!

  • mon the ZX lmao!

  • JESUS WEPT! LMFAO

  • sub 8 minutes ;) hahaha

with our stop and then the terror afterwards it was about 20 minutes I guess.

  • the pressed on the brake for sure at 1:06 to make the slight left turn (uphill) and thats threw them to spin. I am glad they did not hit the fence - would have been the end of the car with some broken limbs.

  • JESUS WEPT!!!

He would have if you rolled it 7 times. After watching this vid, im definitly going to wear a helmet next time and some bucket seats with 4/5 point harnesses. That is a very fast part of the track. My car's front tyres used to hit the top of the wheel arch in that dip. Time for some coilovers.

  • Jesus wept!"!!!! damn thats funny he managed not to put it in the wall or swear, legend

  • LMFAO

  • not quite a match for that new GT-R... lol

lol i was just watching this again trying to work out what caused the spin in the first place (apart form the awfulness of the car lol) and i think he just lifts off a bit, and turns the steering slightly at the same time (perhaps with a bump in the road too) and that sends it off... what u thinking? im just shocked at how well that thing travels sideways LOL.

  • It's a front wheel drive car and you are refering I think to "lift off oversteer" - which is only really apparent with rear wheel drive. Not sure why he went off - I suspect jsut to eager and fast (I hear 100mph on sound) and the car just couldn't cope - slightest bump or loss of traction (surface change - oil water etc) would have done this - looks most certainly a rear wheel loss first (so oversteer) but I suspect it was sheer speed and track conditions.

  • i was indeed referring to lift off overstear, which does occur in front wheel drive cars lol - in fact its pretty much the only way to get a front wheel drive car too overstear.

  • Ok - stand corrected - Seems that LO-oversteer in FWD cars is caused by the weight transfer to front as the gas is lifted and the rears, due to lightness, lose traction - I understand that this has to be quite a violent lift off to work in a FWD (as used in Rallying sometimes)? The other, way to get oversteer in a FWD is use of handbrake. After a steep learning curve thanks to Janeshcw I agree with them - I'll go back to racing my RWD now - at least I know what that is supposed to do

  • Well the lift off would need to be 'violent' in many cars, but the suspension in the Citroen is so soft (and french) that it clearly didn't take all that much to initiate the slide haha

  • If you notice ... the road has some sort of water going tru hem... it cause some 'Hydroplaning' + he steered the car , either with the accelerator or the brakes ... which in turn makes the car skid out of control... cant really do much really, coz there were no traction..

  • oh I had the same car!it was my first car and I would never buy such a car again!they're full of flaws!

  • Its an awful awful car! It makes my 206 seem great, which is shocking..

  • Waaa ha ha ha haaa!!!!

    'Jesus Wept!'

    Oh, Dad! You moron!

Listen to him makin excuses... 'Oh, it was wet!' My arse!

    xXx

  • HOLF SHEEET!! I was NOT expecting that..!!

"Ah, this is a fast one."

    "woo.. waaayyy.."

    "JESUS WEPT!"

  • Yeah I can tell that the French car haters are totally educated in all things motoring and aren't just making a generalisation based on what they hear in the pub. Some of the best handling hatches made are French.

  • Could not agree more!! German cars all the way! Golf .:R32 ;)

  • OMFG that was close, i love the bit "oh crap mums gonna kill us" ah that was awesome im 17 and i drive a ZX and i can now understand what a fun car they are :D

  • I 19, i own a ZX 1.4 ADVANTAGE 1992. Never failed to start up at all with 163 k on the clock. Runs forever, fasted that the modern car with same engine size (TRIED AND TEST). All electics plenty of space. Handles welL No bads at all.

  • I have a ZX too...the Volcane version and i must say that it's fun as hell to drive... :)

  • Nothing but pure luck that this didn't turn into a massive stack. "Hey, let's take an ageing and dynamically inept French hatchback loaded up with people and ramp the crap out of it on the ring" Recipe for disaster I am afraid...!

  • entirely accurate!

it gets worse though, it was the estate version!

  • since when is the ZX dynamically inept?

  • recipe for fun too, afterall he didnt damage anything/anyone did he!

  • the ZX is far from "inept" .. it was the top handling car back then along the Golf mk2/3.. it just has a tendency to lift-off oversteer wich like Jeremy Clarkson said "it will piss off profanes but if you know it and you handle it, it will became your best friend"

  • Yes but not the estate version :) The standard car I agree was a good chassis..

  • Dynamicaly inept? You ever driven one? I'm on my 2nd. Only a 1.4i 3dr. only 75bhp when new. I can chuck it about all over the place, wet or dry. I regularly outrun or at least match the pace of more powerfull more modern cars on my way to work, and that run has some pretty dodgy bends. Most have adverse cambers and there are a couple of bends right on the crest of hills. I hope one day to take it to the ring. Try one, you'll love it.

  • this video shows that God had two or more hands :)

  • Lols. What a plumb. "Impressive save" my ar5e. Dumb luck!

  • BTW, ZX HATE bumps... This video just prove it.

  • Damn, I did exactly the same thing in my ZX 2.0 16v Coupe... This car is dangerous... That´s why I love my bimmers...

  • Hehe power oversteering is dangerous :P

  • nice save my arse lol

  • wicked vid glad it ended well. cool dad.

  • HAHA! Theyre always wreck theyre cars at the same position! HAHA!

Why do you guys always block the Ring?

  • HAHA he didn't crash you idiot, he controlled it.

  • got some nice angle there!

  • divine intervention?

  • LOL I have a ZX! That was so funny, but I was scared for you when it went sideways :)

  • Drift King ;)

  • great day out guys. Got scared to death but still laughing. Cool hey ! who said zx wasn't a sports car ! brilliant catch !

  • haha! I was doing 130 mph down there, FLAT OUT!!! Keep your throttle down.

  • This beats any alton towers day out. Brilliant!

  • Hehe, true said.

  • badd very badd

  • Great catch, dude!! Great family day on the ring...luckly you saved the oversteer and the Citroen ZX...i got one and one of my dreams is to drive it a couple of laps in the ring sometime in my life (without THAT end, of course). LOL

    Great vid, m8!

    Cheers.

  • how fast were you going?? also the lady looks fit!! and BMW rule haah

  • through the compression i see, which is why the car compressed went light and spun, dosent help the car does not have performance suspension and the driver was inexperianced

    luck boy!!

  • JESUS WEPT!!! LOL

    Great video!

  • New pants x 3 I think. Good vid and good save.

  • Ha ha, 'crap, mum's going to kill us' lol!

    Well done dad!

  • Well saved :D

  • Nice, I wish my dad would do something like that! Quick, go and buy a lotto ticket!

  • Amazed you kept so calm! I'd be shitting myself after that. Not surprised you drove slowly afterwards. ;)

Very lucky guys. I do suggest not taking a car like that around there that quickly again though...

  • Well, yes. Your probably right about the car.

  • I AGREE WITH THIS COMMENT IT IS GOOD

  • "Jesus wept" LMFAO!!!!!!!

Well saved and you were all very lucky - that part of the circuit is the scariest for me and my car is doing about 145mph there :o

Did you actually lift though? It looks like it just went sideways - was it really wet?

I came off at Aremberg (just before the bridge you mentioned in the video) and that was in the wet - the gravel saved me though. Needless to say I won't ever be driving the 'ring in the wet again!

  • It was "slippery" - not soaking but fairly wet. Enough to get a bit of spray as you may be able to see.

    What do you drive?

There were many many accidents during the 2h the track was open (It was a Weds I believe) - infact 5mins after we got back in the track got closed down for 45mins to recover a couple of cars that had obviously come to harm.

  • Well saved m8!

  • a nice family day out, ah.

  • sounded like you can off the throttle which is lift off oversteer. Should have kept it planted ;)

  • adamctr - that does not make me feel good about it!!!

  • LOL. owned by a dip in the road!

  • Very lucky, glad you didnt hit the armco- alot of people die there...

  • is your power sterrin though?

  • m8, i have that exact same car. 1.9 diesel zx, they are quite fast for what they look like arent they. u kept your calm pretty well.

  • Well held, but its pretty much full speed down there. But as been said don't lift off and don't follow a modded car

  • Listen to the engine note just before the car spins. It's definitely lowering in pitch which suggests you lifted, possibly not consciously. Good save, mind.

One word of advice when driving the Ring: Don't use the braking points of others who may well have upgraded their brakes, suspension and tyres!

  • Congratulations on staying alive, may I recomend lids next time :)

  • :D We didnt lift though... It was just a FWD car versus a negative camber, and we were on the wrong side of the road for the bend really... Should have kept right and cut in at the end. The back tried to overtake the front and the rest as they say is history

  • woof at 1:10 and 1:11

  • hahaha

  • LOOOOOOOOOL

  • I never knew colin mcrae went out to the ring.....

  • And the moral is: don't lift. Classic lift-off oversteer makes a kink (not even a corner) into a pant-filler!

  • I'm amazed there wasn't a single expletive!

  • Awesome! U lucky git!

  • That is funny as fook. Love it. Good recovery too. LOL
