i think animal organizations should offer free spaying to pet owners living on benefits
in dogs its not just overpopulation that makes spaying a good idea; in females the rate of mammary infections is much higher in un-spayed animals and a lot of animal behavior experts say neutered males are much less aggressive
I see this was added two years ago and I'm just seeing it for the first time on facebook. Ironically, I am making videos on here for shelter animals. Two years later and is it any better? When will the public get it anyway?
I somewhat agree with yo on this. The public needs to be more responsible with their added "family members" but for the ones that are responsible pet guardians that hit hard times (foreclosure for example) and have to move it is getting harder every day to find landlords that will rent/lease to pet owners (especially certain breeds and sizes). This leaves the responsible ones to make hard ( and sometimes rapid) decisions in order to care for their family .
In short some people are just cruel heartless IDIOTS and others do not feel they have any other choice or lack the time to find somewhere/someone to care for their pet.. (and Morbidkitten you are so right)
I can tell you quite possibly the most predominant reason why we're in this predicament; human disregard for other living creatures. I can't tell you, even in this day and age, how many people think of animals as just money makers (back yard breeders/puppy mills), or how many people claim they do not have emotions or "who cares, it's just a dog"/"it's just a dumb animal". It's sickening.
Just adopted a rescue dog from Alabama high kill shelter. Best thing we ever did, these dogs seem to know you are giving them another chance at life. Will never buy from a breeder again.
Thank you for this video. Recently my dogs littermate was taken into a shelter for "looking" like a pit bull. She has no pit in her, just Husky and lab, I hope that she gets adopeted by a loving family and raised in a city that allows look-alikes. Thank you for giving me hope...
very very sad:( i have a 3 year old rottweiler who i adore,i did buy her from a breeder and one day a friend said to me why not adopt an unwanted dog,it never crossed my mind before and i do feel a little guilty about paying out for a breed when i could of homed a shelter dog.I now donate monthly to the dogs trust and are trying to find a shelter dog that will get on with my rotty..fantastic vid btw
Fantastic video!

Thank you for helping to "get the word out". Adopt a shelter/rescue pet, volunteer to help at shelters or with rescues ... spread the word.
