@CCCPWolfGuard I read in my goldfish book, they do. I'm not sure how, I think only emotional pain though when something traumatic happens to them, they go into shock and even become depressed, it sounds funny I know because they are fish but they do have feelings too and when they are not happy or sick, they sit on the stones staring out of the tank and don't swim or feel like eating :(
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ITS GOING TO BE A SUSHI
Fish have a memory longer than 5 seconds and they totally feel pain... that said I would not pay the extra dollar to use anesthesia on my fish. Taking a fish in for surgery is not cruel. Especially if we are still wearing leather shoes and eating factory meat. That is based on cruelty but if you, like me, are not willing to put forth the effort in the areas that count then stop being an "animal activist troll" on youtube.
I don't know what the hell is up with the "they feel no pain" and the "they feel pain" argument is, all I know is that is a vet performing surgery on a fish to save its life. I did'nt know they could do that! Thats fucking awesome! I'm sure the vet would'nt hurt the thing, but anesthetizing it might kill it. I doubt hes trying to be cruel to somethng hes trying to save. Either way, the fish is better off without that thing growing on its back and is probably alive today because of the surgery.
wtf?? tht goldfish is huge i always thought gold fishes were those small ones tht cats always want to eat or the ones tht r flushed down the toilet if they die. lol but anyways i guess thtz just in movies
@1990vampirediaries, number 1 goldfishes grow to be huge, they start off small but if in the wild grow to be huge (their size is in meters). Number 2 you never flush fish (especially if they are alive) down a toilet, that is cruel (if it is alive and you do that) and is unhygenic to flush a fish down the toilet.
@John94098 That's why I said " if they die", of course i won't flush it down alive that is messed up. and you basically repeated the same shit in both parenthesis. And how is it unhygienic to flush down a fish? Which by the way you spelled wrong. Don't try to sound smart when all you write doesn't make sense.
Oh hey! whats up? wha...why are you taking me out of my tank? eh, you look cool, i trust you... wait what's that? its shiny ooh why are you holding me... ow... ow OW OWWWWW what ten FUCK are you doing!? oh my FUCKING GOD this hurst!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK MAN!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH oh ok im good bro
@Daytripperyeah89 Wiggled in pain? He wiggled because he was out of the water... Nonetheless, that's irrelevant. As I said, fish don't have the developed nervous system to feel pain. The rest is irrelevant.
@Azlaier They feel pain, but there isn't emotion to it like humans have. It's basically, "Get me the fuck outta here! Ouch! Ouch!" and then after you're done hurting it, twenty seconds later it's like, "Whoop-dee-doo, I'm a fucking goldfish."
Just anesthetize the fish. Even if pain were like that for you, I'm sure you would rather not go through it.
@zharnotczar too funny. plus if you noticed when it first started wriggling it stopped all quick. ahaha, because fishes have a 5second memory-span. :o so dumbass forgot he was getting cut with a little operating knife. :o! idk lmao :p
@Azlaier Seriously? Try catching a fish with a hook in its mouth then try to get it out, every time you move the hook they flinch. Not to mention I tried to fix a few bloated goldfish with a needle, they felt pain. Other goldfish bite their fins, they bleed get swollen and feel pain and run.
Im so proud of people like you who take these steps to save the animals they love. I especially love the whole doctors outfit, not necessary, but adds to the suspension.
know what i do when my fish have ilnesses? you see, my vet suplies my with this powder. and it desolves into the water, you figure out the rest, and no, they dont feel pain during the process its a fucking fish
@MarcSmosh It's not for fun. Carp Pox leaves the fish more susceptible to secondary infections as it diminishes the animal's immune system. Some people pour thousands of dollars into their fish--they wouldn't let such an investment just die.
@nufc09ful if only you could say that about a dog :(.... just cuz its a fish dosnt mean you cant love him. i would never let something even as small as a fish die, me betta fish are my life and im proud to say that i could never replace them :)
I think I watched something on TV about a man that had these type of fish and found out that his favorite one had a large tumor on his head. The fish got the tumor surgically removed and survived. Both of these things just come to show that it doesn't matter what kind of animal you have just as long as you love it a lot.
@NatratAtattat it kills them, the closest thing to anesthesia for fish is tobacco which is still ready harmful. that look like a quick snip so no harm done i guess.
@TheBettalover123 Wow, that's nice. Did it ever occur to you that this goldfish is their pet? Its jet like a cat or a dog to them, its family and it needed help. I'm sure glad I'm not a goldfish in your care since you seem to think they are not worth saving when they can be saved.
Every living thing feels pain-- it is what drives them to avoid things hazardous to their health, such as injury, starvation, extreme temperatures, etc. If it were not for pain, an animal would not have any motivation to care for itself, and it would simply die off. Fish feel pain as humans do, but without the emotional attachments we humans ascribe to pain, such as fear and anxiety. This is not to say they are not intelligent, feeling animals, as they certainly are and deserve care and respect.
Why does every one think this is so weird? People get surgery, you bring your dogs and cats in for surgery, and other animals.. So why not fish? They're living, breathing creatures too...
@unit55665 if you can save an animal then save it the fish lived cause its owner helped it. the fish could have died and the own could have just watched it die so if you had a tumor or something are we just suppose to watch you suffer then
if you dont care about your fish you would spend 100's if 1,000's each year trying to keep them happy and health I have 40 Orandas and it cost me 3,000 in one year trying to take good care of them it get's to a point you will try any thing to get it right. if some thing go's wrong these fish have mega problems cost lots of money

@Nearman You being a marine biologist of the highest order... I don't know what you read on Jared's cousin's blog, but he's a stupid tenth grader with an explosive temper.... As I was saying: fish feel pain. There is almost no animal on earth that doesn't. Get over it. Move on.
HELP! my goldfish has a lump on his side! i noticed it yesterday and today it looks a little bigger! he is still swimming around but it looks like hes having a little trouble with his balance. he has an appetite and is still an active swimmer. He got the lump a few days after some algae showed up in his tank, could it be from the algae? the lump is behind his right gill. it looks like it on the inside of him because it is covered in scales. Wht do i do? could it be cancer?
@BeardieDragonGirl im so sorry to hear that i hope everything goes better. i have a fish my self one time my fish did that and i researched it on the internet it said it had something to do with the bladder. it said to make sure your not feeding it too much. i stopped feeding mine for a whole day then everything went fine. now he swims like normal. but yeh i would call the vet to make sure and see what they say. i wish you the best of luck.
I've heard of sedating them in water/clove oil solution. You can accidentally kill them if the solution is too strong or you leave them in too long. This fish is not being put at risk or abused. Fish aren't without sensation but they deal well with pain. I've known fish to have an eye sucked out by a siphon or have fins ripped off by other fish and they don't seem to display human ideas of 'pain'. not alot of regular pet owners would actually do that...heck they probably wouldn't even know what it was..this is not animal abuse this is high class pet care..
I dont know if it hurt the fish, it probably did... did you use pain killers? I'm not an expoert so im not sure if there ARE painkillers for fish.. but atleast it was quick, and you saved it :)
@wu961 it's okay everyone, they were saving it! it would have died a very slow, sad and painful death if they hadn't done that! besides, it wasn't THAT bad!
@johng321ify What the fuck is wrong with you dumbass? If he didnt do this, the fish would have DIED. HOW IS THAT FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY BITCH? HUH? ANSWER ME YEH JACKASS
@johng321ify What the fuck is wrong with you dumbass? If he didnt do this, the fish would have DIED. HOW IS THAT FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY BITCH? HUH? ANSWER ME YEH JACKASS! It's like cancer. Sergically (or however you spell it) Remove it, or die.
I think they were actually trying to help him because he had like this thing on himthat looked all bloody and looked like a pimple or wart or something. They should've put some numming stuff on it first cuz FISH CAN FEEL PAIN!!!
Ugh, why is it that no one, despite how knowledgeable, professional, and careful they are, and regardless of how outstanding the facilities and equipment used, can post a video of themselves caring for their pet without having some crass jerk-off post some asinine comment claiming ANIMAL ABUSE?? Obviously, the person in this video not only provides their fish the utmost care (and wants to help others via Youtube), but I can surely assume he/she is a devoted fish-lover. So, zip it, haters.
@esobut True. I mean if I had a tick or some other kinda parasite on my back I'd want someone to cut it off, too. That's not animal abuse. Leaving it on there would be animal abuse/neglect.
@esobut I suppose you would be fine with someone cutting off a slice of your back with no anesthesia? If that person truly loved their fish they would take it to a vet instead of doing something so painful to that poor animal. Knowing that vets have such a wide range of anesthetic agents for fish such as tricaine methanesulfonate (MS-222) and eugenol, why do something as STUPID, CRUEL and IRRESPONSIBLE as this?!
@Sophie0257 Removing the surface lesion did not cut into his flesh-- it was hardly a "slice" off his back. Surely you're aware that anesthesia, like any drug, has its risks; why drug your pet if its not absolutely needed? Furthermore, I am a devoted fish keeper, and seeing the professional equipment and careful precision this man used to help his fish prove that he is beyond qualified to operate on fish-- perhaps even more so than a vet. Many fish are mistreated, but clearly not here. Calm down.
Was that a parasite?

ZaneSiolo 1 year ago
Ugh, why is it that no one, despite how knowledgeable, professional, and careful they are, and regardless of how outstanding the facilities and equipment used, can post a video of themselves caring for their pet without having some crass jerk-off post some asinine comment claiming ANIMAL ABUSE?? Obviously, the person in this video not only provides their fish the utmost care (and wants to help others via Youtube), but I can surely assume he/she is a devoted fish-lover. So, zip it, haters.

@esobut i agree with you that fish would die if it didnt get the carp pox removed so shut up haters!

poor fishy i love fish do you fish are amazing and are a big case in scinence
TheGogopokemonmew 1 year ago
@esobut True. I mean if I had a tick or some other kinda parasite on my back I'd want someone to cut it off, too. That's not animal abuse. Leaving it on there would be animal abuse/neglect.
SmittyKat 9 months ago

Calm down.

He simply used the scaple to pull up a few scales, so he could remove the affected area. It's for the fish's own health.
