OK . These musicians were my associates at the Center for Preservation and Propagation. They were: Parisa (Vajihe Va'ezi) - vocal; Daryush Talai - tar; Parviz Meshkatian - santur; Davud Ganjei - kamanche; Mohammad Moqadessi - kamanche; Malihe Sa'idi - qanun & Naser Farhangfar - zarb. I haven't studies the video recetly, but that is my memory. Dr. Lloyd Miller
Agreed. Parisa was the most spiritual and wonderful young vocalist at the Honarestan (conservatory) where i studied singing in Tehran. I worked for years as a news arts writer to finally free her from the clutchesw of the Ministry of Culture with its poluting pop music and have her transfered to the Center for Preservation and Propagation where my beloved guru Dr. Safvat was training young artists in pure tradition to become the future masters of Iranian classical music. Are, in javunan az behtarin, asiltarin va dorosttarin honarmandan-e Iran budand chunke modir-e Markaz-e Hefz o Eshae, Doktor Safvat, mardi rohani bud va nagozasht ke musiqi-ye asil zir pa-ye kharabi-ye qarbzadegi veiran shavad. Yes the artists at the Center for Preservation and Propagation where I was PR man during the 70s became the best because Dr. Safvat insisted on pure tradition only. Parisa, Razavi, Talai, Alizade, Lotfi, Zolfanon, Hadadian, Rajabi, Ganjei, Meshkatian, there are the top.
Another rare video, beautifully played Mahour by a young, talented group who became the best players of the instruments they played (If I'm not mistaken); Talai, Meshkatian, Farhangfar.... Thank you so much for posting it.
Mahur is a main modal system and commonly performed especially these particular melodies. Dr. Lloyd Miller
