I agree with Mosez: pannenkoeken are NOT a breakfast icon and never were. The way the lady prepares them is a little to thin compared to Dutch pancakes. Also, she's frying them in oil whilst butter give them a much better taste. Another issue: overhere in the Netherlands we make pancakes with apple, baconm a.o., but the ingredients are being put in the pan in advance of the dough, so the apple / bacon is fried for something like 20 seconds prior to the moment the dough is added. Good luck to all
Ok - whatever happened to proper news item research?
Pannenkoeken are anything but a Dutch *breakfast* icon - as the Dutch rarely eat hot breakfast food, other than maybe a bowl of porridge. Rather, pannenkoeken are a *dinner* icon typically consumed as the main course of a meal.
Kids love them, and many kids' birthday parties are celebrated with a formidable stack of (home made) pannekoeken.
Also, pannenkoeken is plural - 1 pannenkoek, 2 pannenkoeken. Saying "pannenkoekens" is just silly.
