Warrior Within was an answer to shut up the casual gamers who's primary interests lie in sexually allusive femme-fatales, pissy paint-by-numbers tough-guy protagonists, and excess on gore over originality. It took what the first SoT game started, and shat on 80% of it improving only the combat system, while giving the series' titular platforming the backseat. The combat may be one-on-one, but it's easily more dynamic than the SoT trilogy's ever was, and don't get me started on the platforming.

Warrior Within was what fucked up the SoT Prince as a character. In the first SoT, he was subtly naive, and a bit cocky at best, but never spoke out of terms due to having at least a bit of philosophical wisdom. With Warrior Within, they took the character and squandered any originality he had as a character for the sake of making him a generic grungy semi-emo who's saving grace was the fact that he had the coolest get-up of his incarnations in the trilogy.
