At first I thought she was just rolling it until it came to rest hole down, then shaking it to get it out. I couldn't work out why sometimes she seemed to roll it for ages before tyring to get the treat out.
Then I realised she was stopping it and then rolling it back so it wasn't just hole down, but hole down on a crack between the tiles so the treat could fall out. That's some pretty solid analysis right there.
LOLOL - I have an Australian Cattle Dog and had a similar experience with the same ball! But FIRST he removed the tiny things in each hold that make it a little more difficult for the treat to fall out... gotta love him... <3
I just got a ACD which was a throwaway pup. He looks exactly like this dog! He's about seven months, just got neutered, and is a love bug. He and his bud, a rough collie, are now country dogs and we are so lucky to have them.
My ACD Marty always comes when called and is one of the most loyal, trustworthy dogs I have ever seen. He knows how to 'say his prayers' to get a treat, and when someone says walk or treat he barks excitedly. He also likes to play 'Matador', where he grabs your heel very gently in his mouth and play-growls while you shake him off and he latches on again, and if you tell him to stop he stops, sits and looks at you. They are scary intelligent and tough dogs.
I don't care what name you wish to call this breed, can't change the fact that they are scary smart! Look at that heeler systematically manipulate that toy! That is a clear example of making a plan and executing it, exactly why I am getting one once the fence is done! great vid!
The Bluey I had as a kid worked out how to unhinge the screen door from it's bottom rails so she could come inside. To train her, I only had to show her something with a food reward once. Some things she worked out on her own.
Wow. He's shaking it with one paw so intently. He really knows where the hole is and how to get it out; not just batting it all over like an idiot. These ACDs are some of the most brilliant dogs going! They never cease to amaze me.
LOL! I love it! Very smart! My ACD isn't too bright yet, still a pup though. My Ausi shep/ ACD cross is the smartest dog I have ever seen, some days I think she is smarter than me!
GREAT ! :-) the way she shakes the ball when it's in the right position ! amazing !

This is why they are in the top ten of the most intelligent breeds of dog.
It's also why they need a job or a decent hobby. I love Blueys but they are not for the lazy owner.

That is amazing! She knew what she was doing. If we could only get our dogs to do the housework or something! :-)

Mine used to get her leash when she wanted to go outside.

Clever and Australian Cattle Dog in the same sentence? Repetetive and redundant!
