actually she is supposed to retire shortly after the christmas holiday season. as for those who were wondering which doll would be next to retire after kirsten, it would be molly, because kirsten, samantha, and molly were the first dolls introduced by pleasant company in 1986. so sad :(

She isn't per say, retiring, but being archived. Which means that there is a chance she may come back later. But she is going into the archives, just like Samantha. Multiple people have gotten this letter and talked to customer service.

She has a great story, but I you know, I don't think AG is going out of business. They can't have 20 Historical Dolls and have them all selling in the same numbers. You have to retire some, and make new dolls. That's how businesses keep "surviving." So, you know, there's still time to get her. And my cousins have her, and I really would suggest Kirsten. She's very cute.
