I wasn't saying that at all. I was saying that in the film, Mankind appears to create the Xenomorphs by manipulating the DNA of the "proto-facehuggers". As IGN have pointed out here, the facehuggers don't appear in their final form(certainly in the trailer) and it shows therefore that something changes because of Human interference. I'm not saying we created the facehuggers... I am saying I believe the film is about the creation of the "Chest-busters".

I think that the ship crashes, and after that a space jockey (who was infected by a facehugger) sends a distress signal from that chair, which makes me think that the reason the jockeys arrive is because that bald guy will accidentally activate the signal in the chair, which the jockeys get and come to the planet, that's my thoughts.
No. The Bald guy is actually a Space Jockey... he has a Mohawk and in the original 1979 film, you can see the Mohawk. No, the Humans come across the alien temple on the planet surface... and THAT is what sets off an "Alarm" which the space jockey's(including Mohawk) respond to. I think that weyland-yutani sent them there and after the crew gets killed they send the nostromo with ash to try and capture an alien. You just know that weyland-yutani are going to be involved
I think the space jockeys are inpregnated with a face hugger and the alien that comes out from it is the queen alien because aliens take on features of their hosts

Might answer your question, as to say its not so much a prequel or a sequel, its linked to alien but is its own film as such.
My prediction is by what the last two phrases at the end of the trailer say that it is in-fact partially a sequel but the space jokey's went back in-time to find out how the aliens came to be on LB-426 but things went horribly wrong.

Many people are thinking Prometheus means something physical like a ship but if could be metaphorical. The text says "They went looking for our beginning" which probably means the beginning of the human race, and Prometheus is the Ancient Greek God that created humans. That's where the title comes from
@NicoRecalde I would be so thrilled if they dared to somehow suggest that the events in the film were the "actual" events, at the beginning of man, that became the basis for the myth itself. "There were giants on the Earth, in those days" This could be the basis for far more myths than just the Greek's. I would not be surprised if it went biblical, in some creepy way. I think humans will learn something they didn't want to know.

Okay, here's what I heard from PROMETHEUS. Basically, the humans discover that Space Jockey's were the ones that created the human race. The humans go to the planet to find out more about their creators, but some of the human try to steal the secret of their creation. The Space Jockey's get mad and decide to release their bio weapon on the humans (Aliens). The humans eventually find a way to use the bio weapon against the Space Jockey's.
Prometheus is the Titan of Creation. He modeled man from clay. He always wanted to better the life of his creation so he stole meat from the gods and gave it to man. He was arrested and sent to have his forever regenerating heart eaten by an eagle until Hercules set him free from his torture. This through me off from the idea of an Alien prequel . @ProdiqalEditz I think the idea is that sence Prometheus was the creater of makind in the legend. I would suggest that this movie will tell a story of how the Space Jockys created humans to harvest aliens. In return, the Space Jockys gave the gift of technology to mankind. Thats my guess.

Guys, regarding your comment at the start of the clip about the planet's atmosphere...it sounded like you forgot that the company installed atmosphere generators there, between the time of Alien and Aliens...hence humans can colonize it now, and hence why rain was present during the space marines' landing in Aliens...that your refer to.
This is how I see it......they find this temple which is probably where the Space Jockeys perform rituals for the Aliens and all that and they trigger an alarm which does something maybe infects that one guy or maybe instead they fond something that ends up infectin him....so with that possibility some Space Jockeys were already there and sent out a message to the big ship then crazy shit happens then as it comes in and sometiing unknown attacks the ship....maybe....Predator o.o I dunno

Well said with the note about a xenomorph-space jockey temple. This relationship between the derelict and a temple was initially planned to be shown in the original Alien but was cut for budgetary reasons. It seems Cameron had an old love for it.
Similarly, while I didn't see the clip in this version of the trailer, there is a scene with the female lead standing in a corridor on the derelict with 2 easily identifiable Space jockey "bodies" visible. The way they stand, however, leads one to suspect that this is only an exosuit for the figure shown in the control-chair scene.
My guess for it all? As we know this mission takes place at the end of the 21st century, Prometheus is either the simple name of the ship sent out on the mission, or prophetically is how Weyland-Yutani Corp was able to score even more sweet alien tech to fuel mankind's advancement into the stars. Too bad, it seems, that for one reason or another (possibly a space jockey strike or the ship crash) the planet with this craft was turned into the barren rock from Alien
@hookahfiend There's also a possible tie-in with name with the "Prometheus tech" offered by Borgia Industries, which was later absorbed by Weyland-Yutani, and was based on the recovered Predator tech from AVPR. Course, that may be reaching... this is a Cameron prequel after all and who knows if he'll recognize the cross continuity spinoffs as canon within his universe

I wouldn't be surprised if there are some "timeline" issues involved, it looks like the new crew stumbled on some "DNA-ark" that humans or a humanlike race (panspermia) or the scpace jockey race have built ages/eons ago and that the fassbender character has messed around with the DNA, creating a new species, entering this ark might have set off an alarm causing the space jockey's craft to arrive.

im sure this advanced alien race will have more than one type of ship. plus that waterfall scene was filmed in iceland and ridley said the film will start with the beginning of time. the writer of prometheus suggested and hinted the 'U' shaped derelict craft we see in alien is actually part of a bigger ship. ridley mentioned this in the alien commentary, he said its a weapons cargo that the SJ would drop off in worlds to cleanse them

I'm wondering if this film will be about the events which led the Nostromo to the planet. Maybe it wasn't the Space Jocky race that sent out the distress signal but the human crew in this film. Special order 937 would then make perfect sence in that the Nostromo was sent there to collect the A L I E N after the first mission failed. It could be that the aliens were created as a bio weapon that got out of hand. The original Giger design looked both mechanical and organic.
I believe the Xenomorph are biologically engineered beings them. They may had disagreements because of moral implications. I think they won't be any xenomorph in this movie but perhaps the zombie like creatures were attacking the crew was the prototype of the xenomorph. Perhaps it eventually evolved into what it is in the first Alien movie. But this would undermine the interaction of yautja (predator) whom which hunted these xenomorph for thousands of years unless this is set long before it.

hay all, something I noticed which could be quite important. at 8:45 where the chairs coming up this idea added more when these guys pointed out the guy to the right who looks right size for the chair and ridley Scott saying the space jokey wears some kind suit. look to the top of seat where pilots head would be at that thing sticking up, now look at it upside down, is it just me or does that look like the space jokey face off alien?
there was a supposed leak to the plot that said those containers had a bio type goo that was used for terraforming dead planets as the Prometheus ends up on a planet of supposedly Gods or the creators of man on Earth. One of the crew decides to get greedy and steal the code or source of terraforming and that's what causes things to turn badly and the reason for the jockey to be heading to earth. This plot theory was being ripped by most but it looks like it might be close to accurate

these guys are fucking idiots. I coulda got a better analysis from 2 10 year olds. First of all, the Prometheus does not land on fucking lv426. they land on a different planet and at some point one or more (probably more since 2 people are running as the space jockey ship is crushing down on them) they take off back towards earth and are chased by the space jockey ship full of eggs to eradicate earth when the jockey was infected with a facehugger and that causes the ship to crash on lv426.
I think the crew accidentally release the xenomorph after the space jockeys have stopped the xenomorph (but were destroyed in the process).. maybe the one they create is kinda a blank slate, doesn't have any traits of the host, or some how infects a crew member.. maybe mutates him and he'll infect all those metal cannisters into being face huggers.. xenos seem to secrete something, in the outtakes of Alien it started making eggs from bodys and the nostromo.
My guess is that's a helmet they are analyzing on the ship (Ridley's made several comments suggesting the Space Jockey's "body" from Alien is a suit). Sooo, don't be so sure we know what Space Jockeys look like. For that reason, IGN guys, I suspect that the giant head isn't of the poor, sacrificial humans. Also, I'm not so sure you're right about the egg chamber from Alien as being anywhere but on the ship that they find, which is massive, and remember that the eggs are contained by a mist.
LV426 or Acheron was a moon. I doubt this film takes place on LV426. especially considering the speculation that the xenomorph was a bio weapon design by the space jockey to end a civil war "quite possibly with the yautja" but something went wrong. so the ship you are seeing could of been one of many ships transporting said weapons. just because it appears one crashes in this trailer does not mean it is the same from the first film.
is in the temple room, and there's a giant space jockey suit with it's head missing. Noomi Rapace and Kate Dickie are shining their flashlights at something, but you can't really see what it is. The thing on the table is probably what they were looking at. Also, the "stone alien eggs" in the temple room are actually canisters containing bio-morphic acid that turns humans into something. And as a side-note, the rain on LV-426 in Aliens is probably the result of 30-something years of terraforming.
The beginning is all wrong... the face in the big room is supposed to be a Space Jockey's face. If you look at the humanoid creature's face at 8:50, it is almost exactly the same as the head in the room. Also, the "Fossilized Space Jockey" in the pilot room isn't actually a SJ. It's a Space Jockey's suit (Ridley Scott himself has said this). So, that leads us to the part where the "head" is on the table at 4:01. I've seen a production image from the set, where part of the cast (continued)
1) the hole looked more likely due to an explosion or trauma from a projectile. the wound is charred and even Dallas commented that it "the bones are bent outward, like he exploded from the inside" -- the hole is also a little smaller than a human head... making the burster HUGE.
2) mother(the computer in alien) suggested the "distress signal" was a "warning" despite the warning Ash followed Special Order 937 and landed.
in this movie their will nothing of which you described. the writer has said more than a dozen times now that the spacejockey and the spacejockeys ship in this film isnt the one from Alien and it will not have one reference or even a hint of the eggs, chestburster or alien we seen in alien. and it wasnt a distress call the nostromo received it was a warning that came from the crashed ship. prometheus has nothing to do with the events that happen in alien
1. Prometheus stealing fire from Zeus and giving it to mortals, implying that the humans access something forbidden from omnipotent power (Space Jockeys)
2. Prometheus' punishment where he is bound eternally and punished daily by an eagle, implying that is the purpose of either the expedition or the "Temple" as an eternal and repeating punishment
3. The makers really wanted to call it "Pandora" as the humans are being punished for curiosity, but they had to rename it
05:28 - "bare hands" - Fassbender is the android of the movie...it seems reasonable to speculate that this is one of the egg-like cannisters from the room with the giant face.

There's been nothing good with this IP since A3 so hopefully this is the start of a new heneration of memorable films. Can not wait for it....

But the whole 90210 vibe of the 2nd one kinda killed it for me. While the idea of mixing the species in a movie seemed good on paper they definitely lost what made them so great originally. A pred only flick would be the best thing they could do for that franchise.. :DD 2 gold starts to you ;)...

They find a planet with natural recources and if it is populated with life they unleash the Xenos to wipe it out, then in turn wipe out th Xeno's. @machinegunkelly776 once again you are incorrect, the eggs were contained in the ship. The ship crashed as is evident in the first movie and so the eggs are found in the hull of the ship. Not in a cave but part of the actual ship. It suggests to me that this structure is a warehouse of sorts that is used to store the eggs and nothing more. The Jockeys were heading there to drop off some stock and disaster ensues.

Yes, but they will be the precursor's to the Xenomorphs of the later films... and the main antagonists are actually the Space Jockeys.
They will therefore not look the same at all and there's even speculation only the facehugger "precursors" will be in the film. Well said with the note about a xenomorph-space jockey temple. This relationship between the derelict and a temple was initially planned to be shown in the original Alien but was cut for budgetary reasons. It seems Cameron had an old love for it.

My guess for it all? As we know this mission takes place at the end of the 21st century, Prometheus is either the simple name of the ship sent out on the mission, or prophetically is how Weyland-Yutani Corp was able to score even more sweet alien tech to fuel mankind's advancement into the stars. Too bad, it seems, that for one reason or another (possibly a space jockey strike or the ship crash) the planet with this craft was turned into the barren rock from Alien

I wouldn't be surprised if there are some "timeline" issues involved, it looks like the new crew stumbled on some "DNA-ark" that humans or a humanlike race (panspermia) or the scpace jockey race have built ages/eons ago and that the fassbender character has messed around with the DNA, creating a new species, entering this ark might have set off an alarm causing the space jockey's craft to arrive.

I'm wondering if this film will be about the events which led the Nostromo to the planet. Maybe it wasn't the Space Jocky race that sent out the distress signal but the human crew in this film. Special order 937 would then make perfect sence in that the Nostromo was sent there to collect the A L I E N after the first mission failed. It could be that the aliens were created as a bio weapon that got out of hand. The original Giger design looked both mechanical and organic.

I believe the Xenomorph are biologically engineered beings them. They may had disagreements because of moral implications. I think they won't be any xenomorph in this movie but perhaps the zombie like creatures were attacking the crew was the prototype of the xenomorph. Perhaps it eventually evolved into what it is in the first Alien movie. But this would undermine the interaction of yautja (predator) whom which hunted these xenomorph for thousands of years unless this is set long before it.

there was a supposed leak to the plot that said those containers had a bio type goo that was used for terraforming dead planets as the Prometheus ends up on a planet of supposedly Gods or the creators of man on Earth. One of the crew decides to get greedy and steal the code or source of terraforming and that's what causes things to turn badly and the reason for the jockey to be heading to earth. This plot theory was being ripped by most but it looks like it might be close to accurate

First of all, the Prometheus does not land on fucking lv426. they land on a different planet and at some point one or more (probably more since 2 people are running as the space jockey ship is crushing down on them) they take off back towards earth and are chased by the space jockey ship full of eggs to eradicate earth when the jockey was infected with a facehugger and that causes the ship to crash on lv426.

I think the crew accidentally release the xenomorph after the space jockeys have stopped the xenomorph (but were destroyed in the process).. maybe the one they create is kinda a blank slate, doesn't have any traits of the host, or some how infects a crew member.. maybe mutates him and he'll infect all those metal cannisters into being face huggers.. xenos seem to secrete something, in the outtakes of Alien it started making eggs from bodys and the nostromo.

My guess is that's a helmet they are analyzing on the ship (Ridley's made several comments suggesting the Space Jockey's "body" from Alien is a suit). Sooo, don't be so sure we know what Space Jockeys look like. For that reason, IGN guys, I suspect that the giant head isn't of the poor, sacrificial humans. Also, I'm not so sure you're right about the egg chamber from Alien as being anywhere but on the ship that they find, which is massive, and remember that the eggs are contained by a mist.

LV426 or Acheron was a moon. I doubt this film takes place on LV426. especially considering the speculation that the xenomorph was a bio weapon design by the space jockey to end a civil war "quite possibly with the yautja" but something went wrong. so the ship you are seeing could of been one of many ships transporting said weapons. just because it appears one crashes in this trailer does not mean it is the same from the first film.

is in the temple room, and there's a giant space jockey suit with it's head missing. Noomi Rapace and Kate Dickie are shining their flashlights at something, but you can't really see what it is. The thing on the table is probably what they were looking at. Also, the "stone alien eggs" in the temple room are actually canisters containing bio-morphic acid that turns humans into something. And as a side-note, the rain on LV-426 in Aliens is probably the result of 30-something years of terraforming.

The beginning is all wrong... the face in the big room is supposed to be a Space Jockey's face. If you look at the humanoid creature's face at 8:50, it is almost exactly the same as the head in the room. Also, the "Fossilized Space Jockey" in the pilot room isn't actually a SJ. It's a Space Jockey's suit (Ridley Scott himself has said this). So, that leads us to the part where the "head" is on the table at 4:01. 1) the hole looked more likely due to an explosion or trauma from a projectile. the wound is charred and even Dallas commented that it "the bones are bent outward, like he exploded from the inside" -- the hole is also a little smaller than a human head... making the burster HUGE.

in this movie their will nothing of which you described. the writer has said more than a dozen times now that the spacejockey and the spacejockeys ship in this film isnt the one from Alien and it will not have one reference or even a hint of the eggs, chestburster or alien we seen in alien. and it wasnt a distress call the nostromo received it was a warning that came from the crashed ship. prometheus has nothing to do with the events that happen in alien

The name Prometheus means:
1. Prometheus stealing fire from Zeus and giving it to mortals, implying that the humans access something forbidden from omnipotent power (Space Jockeys)
2. Prometheus' punishment where he is bound eternally and punished daily by an eagle, implying that is the purpose of either the expedition or the "Temple" as an eternal and repeating punishment
3. The makers really wanted to call it "Pandora" as the humans are being punished for curiosity, but they had to rename it

@SnappiestExpertNiko definitely, I have faith the franchise is going to have some worth again now RS has done this. I just hope they don't mess it up ahain making more AvP crap afterwards. There's been nothing good with this IP since A3 so hopefully this is the start of a new heneration of memorable films. Can not wait for it....

@ColonialM41a I believe AVP was awesome but we need to see more behind the Predator history. i mean if they made a movie about Predators without humans. Id love that!

@SnappiestExpertNiko Nah. The Predators are supposed to be mysterious. Going much further would be very interesting, but it would ruin our image of the omnipotent and menacing creature. Things are more intimidating the less we see and know of them.

@SnappiestExpertNiko this I would really like to see good sir :). It would be sweet, I kinda enjoyed the original AvP in parts. There were some very cool pred moments. But the whole 90210 vibe of the 2nd one kinda killed it for me. While the idea of mixing the species in a movie seemed good on paper they definitely lost what made them so great originally. A pred only flick would be the best thing they could do for that franchise.. :DD 2 gold starts to you ;)...

@machinegunkelly776 Incorrect, they do not create living planets they use them. They find a planet with natural recources and if it is populated with life they unleash the Xenos to wipe it out, then in turn wipe out th Xeno's. Thereby making the planet non hostile to the Jockeys and allowing them to plunder away. You are right you are no Alien lore geek.

also in the original movie under the space jockey john hurt refers to the egg chamber as a cave!!! not part of the ship which suggests to me like the ship crashed back down on top of the structure that contains the head, stone containers and eventually eggs!

@machinegunkelly776 once again you are incorrect, the eggs were contained in the ship. The ship crashed as is evident in the first movie and so the eggs are found in the hull of the ship. Not in a cave but part of the actual ship. It suggests to me that this structure is a warehouse of sorts that is used to store the eggs and nothing more. The Jockeys were heading there to drop off some stock and disaster ensues.
