  • Nice video, thanks~!

  • I was taught to lift the knee sideways when starting the kick up, but you tell to point the knee down. It seems more effective, do you have any thoughts?

  • i like your back kick form.. nicely executed..

  • What a bunch of tards that say you must scope your target AFTER launching the kick.

If you need to see in order to hit, you already fucked up before starting your attack.

Back kicks are supposed to be FAST, so there is zero need for relocating your target.

And when executed properly, a miss will not set you off balance at all, just follow up with a straight punch with the momentum you already have from the rotation = auto course correct, and continue the fight as you normally would.

  • Hey this guy called Joe Rogan (pretty sure you heard of him, the guy commentates in UFC) says you should not kick upwards because you lose a lot of power. Can you confirm this?

  • @AznboiY2J the upward kick sneaks in under the guard better and hits the body at the same ngle as the uppercut, its really deceptive and can be done at a closer range.

  • Thomas Diagne style.YouTube that guy.I went to the same gym with him.He does not look either. He puts big guys down with that spinning back kick

  • hey man, looks like a good tutorial.. but the clips change too quickly.. its hard to appreciate and take note of your form.... so could you make the video again, but slower??

  • thats pathetic, I'd never look away whilst doing this kick. if your opponent is proficient at countering, your fucked. what happens when your opponent counters with a roundhouse?...you get KNOCKED the fuck out because you cant see whats coming

  • @channelin Then your too fucking slow !!! Back kicks are supposed to be done lightning fast, an opponent may scout it and dodge or block, but countering is insanely hard.

I have years of experience in karate competition, and i do this kick the exact same way.

Scout, position and execute. No need for locating the target twice.

I support the way this guy does it 100% and his explanation in the discription is dead on.

  • I totally agree with most observers commenting here. This guy needs to get his head around first, and he should be looking at his target. He is a white belt in my opinion.Get your head around first, and look where you will be kicking, first.Opponents have a tendancy of moving, especially when they see you spin.

  • @sailordude301 Most observers are wrong. Speed is the key to eliminating the need to look twice.

Execute your attack fast enough, and only when your opponent is coming out of an attack or already blocking, and he wont have the time to move. A block is the best most fighters can offer, if that at all.

This kick, done in the exact same way has gotten me plenty of wins.

  • This is great. I watched Joe Rogans kick when he taught GSP but this has step by step and slow mo, exactly what I was looking for. Nice

  • when I do this kick, I add a little 45 degree front step with the lead leg to add momentum...........

  • LOL nice tutorial how to smash someone's balls))

  • i did check out some of your other videos and i can see you know what you are doing. did read the description, but please upload another video where you look at the target

  • This kick is being taught correctly!

  • hehe why don't you look where you kick?

  • MY favorite and the most eff kick ever

  • awesome tutorials man, really helpful. thanks : )

  • joe rogan does it better

  • Please dont make a stupid comments :if you can do better just shut up

MR KYRYLLO NICE WORK JUST REMEMBER IF YOU POST A VIDEO YOU ARE GONE BE CRITIZE SO TAKE IT

  • i agreee with you with time and practice you tend to aim before kicking instead turning you head

in fact i learn this because i only have one eye so its useless for me to turn my head

    great post

  • Why are you rising up on your lead leg? Put your head over your shoulder to see where you are kicking at.

  • its probably best if u dont take ur eyes off the target

  • He have to keep eyes on his punchbag, He doesn't look in the right direction. The back kick is like an Ushiro geri, Your eyes leads your leg in your target

  • @tomteams bla-bla-bla. Read description, beore posting.

  • @kyryllo bla bla description sucks as well as his kick

  • We all know you can do it 20 times in a row... but please explain it while you do it....

  • thats ronnnG he must see with his eye his target at the end of the kick /not as he do

kick while his head at the other side

  • @Nasserpazoka Please read the description carefully.

  • nut shot.

  • he's not looking where he's kicking =(

  • @georgeammorris read the video description

  • MONKEY BOY......!

  • It's a very good kick, even though it's dangerous for who kicks.

  • I absolutely love back kick, if you can do it good and fast whilst keeping an eye on your opponent it will do the job brilliantly. I use it in tournaments all the time, and I have won quite a few because of a fast back kick or axe kick. But if you can't do it fast and keep your balance, don't do it at all. That's what my instructor says.

  • @templarknight94 one question, when doing a back kick, which leg do you load your weight on? the front leg or the nack leg (kicking leg)?

  • @mrdominicsee I put my weight on the front leg, but use all of that weight to thrust backwards when I kick...I don't really know how to explain it.

  • Great demo on how not to do this kick and without power - you should be folding a 75lb bag in half with this kick!

  • really good kick dude, but you must look at your target, in any kick you show your back, you must look at it ( I read the description ) and you must kick up to kick your target's head

    but you kick good man!

    respects

  • Ok, i didn't read it that much because i am in a hurry. but the fact is that you are not looking at your target. Right?

  • @GPascua You need to work on your reading comprehension, I spent a whole paragraph on this matter and the words "must look at the target" are nowhere near.

  • @kyryllo why would you not want to look at you're target? What if you go to throw a back kick and where you thought he was he isn't and smacks you before you even turn your head to look at your opponent? In some cases ok maybe you can get away with not looking at your target while executing a move but in most cases it's wise to see where your opponents hits are coming from and not being "blind"

  • what kind description should i read?

  • he should be looking at his target. he kicks good but when the time he kicks he is not looking at his target. what if his target is too quick and he just move left and just push him at the back? he will lose his balance. right?

  • @GPascua Please read the description carefully.

  • @kyryllo. I love how almost every comment gets responded by '' Please read the description carefully '' or '' bla - bla -bla. Read description , before posting.

  • @MrPredatorix that would be because the pack of clowns that are criticising the vid are being answered in the description already.

  • @GPascua right,

and you must kick up, to hit your target's head, to do this, you must make the chest down, then you can kick up, but you need balance

    respects!

  • @GPascua decription retard

  • Hi I just wanted to know how do you do a Flying spin kick

  • If you.. dare i say... "wanna-be's"... want real training... join a TKD class.

  • i kno how to do that tho only i want the kick to get more higher in the back like in the face but when i do that i keep off balance on my legs lol

  • i wouldn't chamber for the back kick that reduces speed by alot

  • @blackblade123 that doesn't make any sense.

  • @kyryllo how so

  • @blackblade123 You are suggesting making a back kick with a straight leg.

  • @kyryllo no, its hard to explain, but chamber shouldn't be a step it should be more fluent.

  • @blackblade123 The chamber is only an isolated step while you are in the process of learning the kick. When you mastered the technique the whole kick is one fluent motion.

Since this is a tutorial, the chambering is displayed as an isolated step.

  • @kyryllo i see

  • i keep off balance :( HOW??

  • all kicks can be effective in certain situations with the right timing. the way this man does it in the video is good, its a good example for people to learn off so good job.

  • no, my body aint ' movin like that

PS i dont talk like that

  • the thing i struggle with most with this kick is the aim..

  • Thank you for teaching us how not to a back kick, that was crap!!!

  • Why are all the Tutorials for a spinning back kick on youtube actualy a spinning side kick.? All of them!

    Decent spinning SIDE kick though.

  • Prolly cause you don't know the difference bw the two kicks, that is a back kick. You are wellcome.

  • @TheRealParagon I think this kick comes from beyond, with the muscles of your leg and abdomen, while the sidekick comes from your hip and uses strenght from the full body. Correct me if I'm wrong...

  • @TheRealParagon Theres a difference between the 2 you retard lol. Back kicks are way better. If someone does a spinning side kick its probably cause they failed at doing a back kick. Doing a spinning side kick leaves you super open if you miss. Back kick= back foot kicking straight out by not chambering to the side.

  • You are completely clueless and clearly not worth my time. It is obvious that you are too stubborn and pig headed to learn anything. Wallow in your own ignorance if it makes you feel better.

  • @TheRealParagon It seems like your the clueless one. People that don't know what to say generally say something like that. " Your not worth my time" etc. Bullshit. You just don't know your shit. Thats why the poster of this video says you don't know the difference either. Maybe you should go train in TKD so you know the difference between the two kicks.

  • Read the description, he is glancing with his eye to see the next move, you aim before you kick, you have no time at all to change your kick after you've launched it.

  • the kick was very good.....but just in my opinion i think u should keep your eyes on your target....^^

  • it's not really a tutorial cause you don't explain how you need to do it you just show it in slow motion from different angles

I guess you can learn it from the video

    not bad tough

  • read the description la retard. i realli dun understand why u guys dun like to read the description then jump to conclusion. joke

  • could be better

  • هذا جيد

    good

  • one of the best tutorials and display of this kick on youtube, imo

  • Accoding to Taekkyon, when you do this kick you shouldn't be looking back 'cos this is a "sneaky" kick, the enemy isn't gonna know that you're going to kick.

Obviously the TKD guys changed that...

  • Looks cool but im pretty sure a tutorial isnt needed for how to do this lol

  • LoL really? I think the point is that it can open your eyes. LoL

  • LOLZ nt a roundhouse, iam talking about the cut kick combo, wats the correct name for the kick?

  • awesome vid

  • hey wats tat kick called where they do a slide-in kick then followed up by a back kick?

  • roundhouse?

  • he is kicking blindly, not good to study

i am not the master but from the other videos and by looking at Cung Le kick, they always look at the opponets when deliver this kick

  • Man! This vid and all the comments below make we want to take a martial art even more! I've been doing boxing for 4 years now (it's surprisingly more skilled than most people think), and I've been thinking of also doing a martial art - get the legs working. I used to do karate, but we did little sparring/physical contact. I assume that this is taekwondo? Please reply - any suggestions on which martial art I could take that doesn't take years to develop the "instinct" (React before thinking) in

  • it's not only about the art. it's also about the student. Even if you have the best dojo or sensei in the world, it's useless if you don't give your 100% to it.

  • @helgard36 Well if you like kicking, you should check out taekwondo. Or you might want to try some kick / thaiboxing.. Your developed boxing skills will really be helpful.

  • Maybe taekwondo. I did think of doing kickboxing. Certain trainers do kick- and boxing training ie Shane Cameron's trainer. However, despite that the two look very similiar, they turn out to have very different def/attack patterns. There's a chance that i could mess up my form in both if I do both. Something clearly different like tae might be good. Thanks

PS LOL @ "developed boxing skills".Been doing it for four years, & it feels like I haven't improved since the 2nd year-I've hit a wall

  • @helgard36 I know what you mean. My Muay Thai coach is focussed on fighting only. So all that I do is smacking either the mits, the bags or opponents - no technical training at all..

So yeah that's why I also practice TKD (technique, the "do" and so on..)

  • @helgard36 PS: where about from NZ are you from? :)

  • Auckland, but originally from South Africa - been here 5 years

  • Go for Muay Thai, for getting the kicks going..... they are the fastest to learn as techniques are few but powerful and really very effective.

  • first of all it depends on which dojo u went for karate. some places are just fakers lol. any training grounds with legit martial artists would go really hard. this kick is universal, just called differently. just think of it as calling "football" in england and "soccer" in US (lol bad example). since u did boxing i think muay thai or kickboxing would be good ones to start on....and instincts are only available thru hard practice haha :P

  • i want to do this but to the face...do i need more flexibility or just more practice...or is very obvious that both...

  • to do this kick correctly to the face you need probably both but you can also stand closer to the target, your kick wont be 100% correct in the technical way (for katas or poomse) but you will be able to hit someone his chin withit and then he'll go KO :P gl practicing

  • for you not to be out-of-balance when kicking. focus to your target all the time. try it and tell me if it's true or not.

  • very nice tutorial 5 stars

  • it has been my experience that in the split second it takes to turn your body away from the target (opponent) in order to throw the kick, the target will not be able to move much (not enough time), and therefore, you don't HAVE to look at the target over your shoulder; you already know where the target is at in your mind's eye. same thing goes for a back spinning hook kick.

  • but if you look back you can react on a counter attack faster.

  • what do you mean by "bounce forward to bring the weight above the front leg"??

  • Nice, but if you want to increse your efficacy you must see the target. (Sorry about my awful english).

  • nice, verrry smooth technique

  • nice tutorial. back kick can be real effective. i've been thinking about starting to make some tutorials myself.

  • Ha Ha! every time I try it, I end out toppling forward!

  • it looks like your throwing you foot randomly at the target actulaly turn around and kinf=da like use side kick not retard kick

  • That would be a back side kick not a back kick. The two are different.

  • exactly; a reverse side kick has your knee positioned to the side (like a side kick) with the kick coming from the side, and a back kick has your knee positioned down with the kick coming from under the body, shooting upwards towards the target.

  • it's amazing how many morons can actually read and write, the guy know what he is doing better than any of you haters, if you can do better, post a video response, but morons can only talk big, they can't even think, otherwise they wouldn't criticize the work of an expert, 2 tips for all of you haters and wannabes :

    1 get some training.

2 as a consecuence of the previous point, you may learn to be humble.

If you can do that, you will become a little better person and then you won't talk shit :)

  • @taediabla

I agree. Some people think they can watch UFC and Youtube videos and call themselves fighters. Step in a ring and show your shit before talking smack. The guy in the video will in all likelihood mop the floor with these guys.

  • Comment removed

  • You mus recoil after kick- You drop your leg. After kick you must pull you leg back, not drop it down.

  • since when is that a rule? dropping it down is lettin the momentum flow, recoiling it is if ur just standin around. back kick actually can be used better when u slide ur standing leg to get forward even further, kick deeper, and droppin it down is actually preferred, according to korean grandmasters and masters; its momentum flow, also setting you up for next moves..

  • ITS INCORRECT !

  • lol, how come?

  • Can't wait to use this in the pub next weekend.

  • it's not effect, because you didn't see a target

  • Read description.

  • I'm in taekwondo and I suck at this kick, will I'm only a yellow belt so, but its really hard for me :/

  • looking at the target is not for aiming only, you are not turned around complete after the kick and you need too much time to get in position for another move because and your back is totally uncovered.

  • What you just wrote doesn't make much sense. Whether you turn your head or not doesn't change anything about the fact that your back still must point towards the target when you kick. And looking at the target doesn't make your body turn around any faster, it just makes your kick slower entirely.

  • i just dont think my tkd and my wushu masters are telling me this just for fun... but maybe they are wrong

  • but otherwise, good kick =)

  • youre doing it wrong control your head movement spin tight and fast snap your head around

  • i agree. ur rotation is so slow because ur not keeping ur body compact. it is viable, but in a tkd match,. u need the speed to get the kick out

  • This reminds me of a Chuck Liddell video on the back kick. He felt that, once he saw the target--his opponent--and launched his kick, if the opponent moved while he executed, it wasn't going to connect or be stopped mid-execution by him anyway. Once launched, he was committed. I think that precision has greater necessity when aiming for a target like a board for a board break, as opposed to a larger target, like an opponent. I'd say aim for the midsection on down in a real situation.

  • The rear horse/donkey kick is more powerful. Also, it is important not to take the eye of the opponent.

  • You use this thing real quick with a change in footing. Start out left foot forward, end right foot forward. Keep fighting seemlessly.

Not at all to be overused. Yeah, it's dangerous to spin around like that, but if you can read your opponent and know when you can do this, landing this thing will be a real bitch to whoever gets hit.

  • The trick is to be fast, so the person will not expect it.

  • kicking at groin..

  • shouldnt you be kicking bags that weigh 120 + pounds? youre not kicking little kids are you?

  • I get the feeling the video was cut off before the bag came and hit him in the back.

  • back kick is one of the hardest kicks!(accuracy point)

  • whats the difference between a back kick and a side kick

  • back kick is stronger i suspose

  • and?

  • must look first to the point of impact, then kick

  • No, read the description.

  • thanks for the tip on bending the body when kicking. I tend to over spin and miss my target. This is very helpful. 5 stars

  • only if you're a newb (you).

  • its called a back-turning kick

  • theres different names for it for different styles taekwon do people call it a spin side kick.

  • i've better move....

a BIg kick right in the balls!!!!!

  • Nice, you make excellents tutorials

  • I have a question on this kick.

When you execute this technique, do you chamber your leg and then drop your leg down or do you just drop your leg down after delivering the kick?

  • umm a little off... wouldn't you say

  • wait i thought your supposed to make a full rotation back to starting position after the kick

  • he never looked over his shoulder

  • i need some advice, when i practice this kick my foot is straight up and down, but when i do it that way i always end up spraining my ankle because the balls of my feet hit first, but wen i turn my foot it always turns into a turning side kick, what should i do about this?

  • Not bad for a yellow belt.

  • how do you know

  • good tecnique, but I think is neccesary see the target just before hit

  • hahahahh yeah no kidding. and could you lean a little more?

  • no because then this kick isnt as kick, and what's the whole point of a back kick?? its one of the fastest kicks.

  • look, the guys obviously worth his salt, hes already explained in the text about turning the head!

may i also add.. if you do happen to miss with your lightning fast kick & you have your head cranked so far around so you can "see your target" your chin will be square on just begging for your opponent to switch your lights out! whereas kyryllo has some degree of protection form his shoulder!

im not from a tkd background, im jkd & it makes more sense the way kyryllo is executing this kick!!

  • I train in Krav Maga and Kali and wanted to tell you that I've really learned a great deal from your videos!

Breaking down the kicks the way you show has really accellerated my learning and I'm now throwing kicks I never thought "I" would be capable of. So thanks for the vids and all the best to you!

  • nice kick, but you sholud continuosly keep an eye on what you want to kick. It is easy to hit a steady point, but if it moves... it is a different story.

  • i think you should look where you´re kicking! Turn the head ;-)

  • i think you should read the description! Turn the head slightly to the right it's there ;-)

  • he doesnt know where hes kicking to...he doesnt watch over the shoulder...weak technique

  • i agree

  • in kyokushin, i am being trained to spin my head, and then while looking to a targeted spot, unleash the force of tension, created with spinning.. bla bla bla, just watch where u kicking.

  • "if it aint there when he starts the kick, it aint going to be there when he finishes" its not like he can change his kick mid air and switch direction - chuck liddell

  • I agree 2, The way he's doing it is like taking a leap of faith, you should look at where your kicking
