I think you will find China has experienced a long list of natural disasters on a much larger scale than Hurricane Katrina, long before 2005

In point of fact, the worlds worst ever natural disaster- the 1931 Yellow River Flood which killed up to 3 million, occured in China.

Hurricane Katrina was a major disaster but you probably didn't even know that at the same time Hurricane Stan was causing devastation in Central America.
