i don't think it was an accelerator pedal problem..I know what it is.. A PROPAGANDA against toyota or just simply it has occured just once to any DUMB because of a floormat and now all americans think that toyotas are crap.
This problem is *not* exclusive of Toyota, It happens to me with two different cars I owned: a Volvo XC90 and an old Opel Calibra. If your mats are not properly latched (ex: you forget to reattach them after cleaning them) they can get in the way of the pedals.
In a similar incident a kids rubber ball rolled behind the brake pedal stopping his movement before it was 100% effective.
Check your mats frequently and keep the driver seat floor free of objects.
"Normal coversation" Normal is entirely relative to the individual. Propensity is an excelent word to use in this particular situation. What would you have prefered? Probability to? Habit of? Chance of? It-like-might-totally? So you, nor your friends or family ever used the word propensity. Some of us just happen to have a wider vocabulary. This IS a corporation talking of a recall situation. Do you really want them to speak to everyone in some kind of every-man talk over a brewski?
What a load of crap. I sometimes get my shoelaces caught around my brake pedal (big loops). Do I need to contact Toyota and tell them to make a shoelace proof brake pedal or adjust my shoelaces? If you notice your car mat interfearing with your gas pedal just adjust the damn mat. Jeez!
That was the stupidest comparison I've heard yet. I've been driving my 2000 Saturn SC2 for 5 years since I was 15, and never ONCE has my mat ever caused my accelerator to get stuck, and it gets pushed right behind the accelerator on occasions too!
Sounds like some Fabrication is going to be needed for this one. That is some fine engineering there. How can you not test a design before production? I can't begin to list the number of products that are designed with Form over Function being the standard procedure now. Try doing some product testing for FUNCTION before Production.

I had an aunt who had her pedal get jammmed in her '93 Tempo because because of ill-installed mats. Very scary experience.

this is just the proof that they dont know whats wrong, is it the floor mat? is it the pin in the throttle? or is it the software?

Ah YouTube, how I love thee, the perfect forum for somewhat anonymous people to attempt to belittle and taunt other somewhat anonymous people.
I can hand on heart say I have never heard propensity used in normal conversation.

Wow, way to sound like a corporation... People like it when they're talked to in normal words. "Propensity" isn't one of those.
