  • What angles are their bindings at?¿ Some of their legs almost look straight :$

  • @StuntDouble312 It's the Alpine stance. Angles are anywhere between 35 and 70 degrees with usually 5 degrees more on the front binding.

  • The music is oddly appropriate

  • this is wierd

  • whenever i do that my board goes faster than my body and i have to shout at it to come back...

  • this is the best thing ive ever seen ever.

  • does it require a lot of leg strength to carve like that?

  • great snowboarding...not great the tune takes the emphasis away from the snowboarding...so screechy gave me a headache

  • iewww, hard bindings. Pro carving though

  • theese arent normal snowboarders.. so if u have a freestyle board u have to learn it otherways you can see on their shoes they re speedracers and their stance is not same like a freestyle boarder they have to carve everytime

  • no

  • Would this be possible on a normal modern day board?

  • Where can I buy an alpine board in Ontario, Canada?

  • stance is whack

  • Is there a name for the turn at 1:44?

  • Does it take a lot of leg strength to carve like this? How about core and shoulders? I went boarding last night for the second time this season and I'm totally fat and out of shape. I spent the entire night carving down the bunny slope and feel like someone shot me out of a cannon and then I rolled down hill for a mile. Song sucks, sorry.

  • @joepapp01 probably the most effortless way down a mountain besides flat bottom....most people will never be able to carve this way

  • whatever you do don't fly off the face of the mountain and die, you will immediatley be kicked off the slopes

  • harder than it looks...

  • hooooly it looks like if u go off that edge your toasttt

  • What it this song? As it called?

  • @Pardontai al so mia!

  • this is the shittest video i have ever seen

  • @everydayidiealilmore pretty sure the binding angle for alpine is suppose to be like that.

  • mongofoot angle

  • hes got a carving board thats why it looks so easy. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • it looks like surfing O.O

  • @Exhonour1337 its great that it says 'technique' but not 'how to snowboard technique'

  • he isn't really googd at it

  • i want to snow board its september right know in toronto so i CANT SNOWBOARD!!!!!!

  • i can do that

  • @Exhonour1337 u don't always need someone telling u what to do to learn...simply pay close attention to his form, and it should become clear

  • I try so hard to do this but the one thing that really bothers me is the transition from toeside to heelside!! Any pointers?!!??!

  • @AlvinSpitoon you just have to get the feel down...there is a distinct feeling when your able to and it's just going for it and not worrying about falling haha it's hard to explain but just go for it and it'll come to you

  • @InSaine10 Indeed, I know what you mean, when i first started i hated my toeside, so id only use heelside, so i dediced one day i was gonna learn toeside and i did that for like a part of the day and after a few falls i got it. good advice :)

  • Awesome! Wish I could learn your technique next season ;-)

  • @everydayidiealilmore yes it can! its called hardboots and it is the closest to true snowboarding, soft bindings are just fun, this is as technical as alpine skiing

  • Holy cow, in 0:11, how was he able to carve so fast and smoothly? I can't do that, Are there any tips? I was told to put most my weight on my front foot and bend my knees a little, but he seems perfectly straight and weighted in the middle of the board.

  • try jumping little when you turn. it lets you carve faster.

  • look at their binding setup, i once used a board with those kind of bindings and it was easier to faster...but in the end, i prefer the reg binding style

  • @eric11600 It;s sped up, its not realtime.

  • is it possible that i can carve on my park board? i can't tell if i am carving because usually im going to fast to look back :/ is there like any secerts to how to carve someone please tell me :D?

  • its beautiful lol

  • The time before last I went to snowboard, I had an accident with an English guy...nothing serious but I really saw him flying...I fell down and hit my head (I had no helm...stupid girl) my snowboarding day was over. I waited in the bar, and the following time I tried to get on the board I was really crap. Always afraid of other people and of speed. Sh..! I know it´s all psychological, and I do hope I will eventually start snowboarding again...

  • That sucks, Hope you get better, get over the fear and shred some powder!!

  • @eric11600 thank you. Let´s see next year....uff....the 60s music on this video is not really appropriate....ahahha..

  • why are there feet angled so far forward? it looks weird to me

  • It looks like more of an alpine stance - both feet are angled at positive angles - it's meant for speed. Very common for racing etc.

  • So heavier boards are best for carving? I'm a beginner with a pretty light board K2 152 cm (I'm 5'6", 150lbs). I would love to ride smooth like these guys eventually! :)

  • Sounds like you have a good board for your size. Can't say I agree with the theory that you need a heavier board to carve well. Its down to personal preference. If your doing it with a smile, your doing it right :)

  • ya I tottlay agree with ye. I have two board: a light one and a heavy one. I'm used to surf using the light one cze I feel I can carve easily especially on black slopes. the other one is also nice but it's heavy and I'm gonna sell it next winter !

  • actually lighter boards are better for carving because on heavier boards, your momentum will still be going forward and you will have more of a skid turn.

alpine carving boards work better with this kind of stuff, but ur K2 board might work for just starting to carve.

  • I have a follow-up question: I bought another USED K2 Darkstar 158 cm board. It is noticeably heavier than other boards, definitely not a light board like my other K2 board. I used one of those online Snowboard Size calculators I found on a Google search. It's a bit more than they suggest but I really like the board.

Is it way too big for someone my size though? 5'6" 150lbs. Should I keep it and test it out or just sell it to someone taller? Would it be more difficult to learn on it?

  • I disagree - I like my alpine board heavier. The weight of the board is irrelevant for whether or not it will carve or skid once you set the edge, but I find the heavier board bites easier into hardpack, and gets bounced around less if the surface is uneven, but that may also be because I am quite light myself.

YMMV, though - lots of carvers I know prefer lights boards.

  • @ribsngibs ok that makes sense.

  • is this at whistler??? cause I could swear I went a trail just like this one

  • @3xt3rm1nat3 No it's the Alps.

  • Yo this is sick man... :)>-

  • who sings that song??

  • @joseiturrizaga just look it up on here bro

  • Ben E King - Stand By Me.

  • the snowboard look thinner

  • @eksembarn it might be a rocker

  • And no you don't need a race board or hardboot board to rail turns right layed over like that. You can make really good turns just like as in skiing where you bend your knees and compress more and more as you make the turn. Then you straighten out before your next turn. Compress into your next one..and so on. Watch out because in straightening out too sudden you can slingshot and crank yourself airborne.

  • so SICK!

  • word!!

  • if i tryed that i would get face planted aha.. nice going

  • haha ya i would totally eat it so hard :P

  • thats crazy im in my 3rd year and i am not as good as i should be,i really struggle with having complete control on steep hills or at high speeds, and i am having trouble with heel side any sugestions?

  • Sickness!

  • lol this is actually fucking awesome :)

  • so beautiful...flawless..

  • great dude!!!!!!!! awesome . i was looking sooo long for such vid!!!!!

  • That looks so much fun, like he's using the snow as a playground. Great riding and Great song!

  • I think the carvefather needs some lessons from these guys

  • @everydayidiealilmore As if duck stance is good lol

  • Think Dylan suited this video better. This is a late recording of Ben's, his voice is fucked.

  • what's hard to learn about snowboard is that it's so hard to learn because the time that we even get to snowboard is hella limited... skateboard is easy cause you can do it anytime...

  • lol, plz, that is so false...snow is on the ground half the year where i live and its nice out the other half. it depends on how dedicated u r to the sport.

  • @SkatePunkDTS11

i know what you mean.. what i mean is like snowboard is only moved on the slope. so it takes time to come up and do it again, while skateboard has wheels so it's easy to move... you know what i mean?

  • where is thatt?

  • Zinal Switserland.

  • @ everydayidiealilmore

if you are talking about the dude in the red i know what you mean...that doesnt even look comfortable

  • lol its an alpine stance

  • 50-55 sweetness

  • Cool riding. Check out this other style of riding..."surf style carving" tag. Old school Buttermilk footage of Phillip Cross.

  • where are you guys???

  • It depends on what kind of board you have. How sharp you're edges are. And how you're bindings are set.

This isn't as difficult as it looks for an intermediate to advanced snowboarder. Get a nice freestyle board with a sharp edge. And start carving.

  • i cant ever get the edge to hook up and my tail ends up gliding around... usually take a couple days away from skiing to swap for a snowboard a couple days each year... got any idea of what im doing wrong?

  • Try setting you're weight further back in you're setting.

People often make the mistake of leaning forward while carving downhill.

It may also be you edge is dull.

If thats the case it's like $10 to have it sharpened

Good Luck! this is really fun.

  • rental board... shiftin weight might help... ive pretty much mastered it on skis so i want that feeling on a board.... gotta be awsome

  • Too slow, and dig ur edge in hhhaarrddd. U want your edge deep enough in the snow to support your weight, or it slides out.

  • aight... ill give it a try nest time i go... thanks

  • 00:50 to 00:55 lol

  • 0:49 to 0:51 was awesome

  • amazing song dude and i tried this its soo fricken hard lol

  • Why does it look so easy?

  • lol becus they are extremecarvers the ones that practically lye on the ground when they carve so carving regularly is pretty easy :]

  • looks sped up 100%

  • free style is like a all around the park board

  • insane man

  • That carving is sooo smooth and elegant!!

Do you think such carving can be done with a freestyle board as well?

  • A board is a board dude

  • A board is a Board.

    A F2 is a F2

And a Volkl Renntiger is a Volkl Renntiger

The difference is,..... last two have world records (still standing)

  • @Geeno79 yup. Though it will look different because you prolly have a duck stance (don't lead with shoulder)

  • Very nice. I'd love to learn that.

  • hey at 1:00 when the guy is going straight down towards the camera how fast do you think hes going in MPH?

  • i would say about 30 or so

  • id say 40-ish, but i cant really be sure.

  • thats crazy how do they do it so good without moving there back leg that much

  • is their boards different and whats with their feet set up is it supposed to be like that?

  • I was at the mountain the other day and 2 guys were riding carving boards. It made me think about where I could get one now a days. Burton and a handful of other companies used to make them but I don't think they do anymore.

  • donek makes great boards

and if your loaded get the swoard or virus like these guys use

  • You can get ome good and cheap ones from custom builders. i got mine from Germany called xtasy Snowboards, you can choose flex for your weight and design. Also try the virus boards (hard to ride)

  • what the heck

they make that look soooooo easy

  • you make it look so easyy haha

  • thx alot sweet vid btw

  • Bravo... Peut être qu'un jour j'arriverai à enchaîner deux trois courbes ainsi sans dévier d'un poil... Super video.

  • haha those edges must be hella sharp

  • i'm an italian hardbooter, but here in the middle of italy we don't have tracks like this , only in the north, and is really difficult to tell this extreme technique, i'm too sad for this, i wish i could do that

  • very cooool

  • lovely music

  • cazzo le curve sto tipo le fa stra pulite!!!

  • very nice

  • snowboarding is the single funnest thing to do on the planet earth

  • well said savagebagz

  • what resort is this?

  • Zinal

  • are those alpine boards?

  • yes they are ! :)

  • are they harder to ride than regular snowboards?

  • about 15 seconds in..thats looks awesome

  • where was this filmed?? that's some really sweet looking corduroy

  • Is his back binding turned a little more toward the front of the board? If it is, is it easier to carve that way?

  • back binding is less angulated than the front one

  • thats a long way down lol

  • is this bob dylan?

  • yes !

  • It's my physic teacher

    !!!!! Ouaouh !!!!!

  • 1:35 OMG skillZ!!!

  • Is it possible to ride like that wearing soft boots?

  • sooooooooo smooth

  • very, very cool. i like this video; 5 stars from me. keep carving!

  • nice

  • Snowboarding nerds? haha chill out man its just a hobby to us, just like drag racers talk about car stuff, and sports fanatics talk stats.

  • stupendous layouts and ginsu cutting. ...just beautiful.

  • lols snowboarding nerds? u probably never even went snowboarding u wouldnt say that after uve learned

  • awesome!! One day - maybe me;)

  • great i wish i could do that

  • that guy is sick at carving and cool sing

  • hey good work :) We were too lazy to edit them together ;) i like the progression you did :)... and Dylan's adds to the thrill :)
