  • @dibbledot Brian Connolly died in the 90's, and the drummer died in 2002? not 100% sure. Very sad.

  • The Sweet was my first favorite band ever! I still remember our black and white television and one special evening with one special music show when I saw them first time. Oh boy, what a memory! I miss those days...

  • the drummer's black makeup makes him kinda look like Zartan from GI Joe.

  • for people that dont know sweet, take a listen to blockbuster or burn on the flame

  • First they were bubble gum, and then suddenly glam.

  • the old steve priest just acted queer

    he was straight

  • Mick, the drummer, sitting in front of the other, was considered as the good-looking guy.

  • Thank God for Punk :)

  • @norrisonthespot Thank The Lord for glam rock, I say!! It was a vasty superior genre to punk, so it was.

  • On April 2nd 2011 i was on my way to manchester with my family...Boring!...then this song came on and we like all partied and sung it in the car.....but my dad couldnt party coz he driving but he still sung it crazily!!! good times..good times x

  • @SuperSpeako I Just bought two albums the other day, Only $7.99 each. Should have been more.

  • @SuperSpeako i'd say they look forward to shite reality tv and instant pop music no decent voice required- apart from the odd few who have good taste in music

  • @SuperSpeako that's not the children's fault. Leave them alone

  • oh the memories..............

  • @carlito1804 I assume you missed the Glam-Rock era, then.......

  • i have recently been turned on to sweet and they are very underrated they are one of the best bands i have ever heard and their tunes are so catchy and i am a teen of the 80s great post thanks

  • Probably one of the bigger hits !

  • i wish we had groups an music like this today instead of manufactured pop crap by mr cowell.. these guys had class and talent and actually played their own instruments,, class ! !

  • I had a cd of the greatest hits of Sweet and got rid of it,and it had this song on.What a idiot.

  • brian connolly was so hot luv him forever

  • [Continuing on from my previous 'post' about the large youth in the audience]: Perhaps the kid that I am referring to went on to become a respected nite-club doorman a few years later. I must say that, back in '72, he certainly looked the type of youth who could handle himself!

  • Back to the halcyon days of glam rock ... when men were men, and birds were birds !

At some point between July 1971 and October '72, The Sweet metamorphosed from a 'hippy'/'bugglegum' group into a fully-fledged glam rock group.

By the way, did you notice that big kid (aged around 17/18) in a suit and tie - in the 'TOTP' audience? (He appeared at approximately 1:15 in the footage.) The kid that I am referring to looked a real hard nut, so he did !

    Perhaps

  • One of my favourite songs of all time! Never fails in putting a huge smile on my face :)

    Thanks for the upload!

  • If this doesn't make you feel alive, you must be dead!

  • I've loved the music of the 1960's - 1989 were the best music before rap & hip-hop. I was young & hung around peculiar people who don't watch T.V. / Radio. They just enjoyed playing cards all night every night thru the years.

  • @starlost1957 yep you re right , that s what i feel

  • brilliant, love this song, going to have it played at my daughters wedding xx i also love brians solo songs rip xxx brian always makes me smile when i here any of your songs x

  • Too good to forget, thx for upload !

  • R.I.P. Brian Conolly and Mick Tucker. God bless.

  • met Brian when he lived in Wembley/ Harrow. lovely bloke

  • Ramona was a loner and she turned me down is from Heart of Stone by Kenny

  • @japseyes

thanks japseyes. they're a bit like ' bay city rollers ' lol.

  • @ghola2010 No offence ... but I think that you are thinking of the other Kenny ! You know, the group of lads with flared trousers and platform shoes who had a few big hits in the mid-70's, with songs like "The Bump", "Fancy Pants" and "Julie-Ann".

The 'Kenny' who had a hit in 1973 with "Heart Of Stone" was a solo singer from Ireland.

  • Oh yes, Brian is nice... they all were. I particularly like Steve, though. . . his theatrical antics with his modulating voice...very sexy.

"Ramona wa a loner but she turned me down." Can't find it without any deep searching.

  • Brian was truly a star great singer and so nice to look at.!!

  • can anyone remember a song of about the same era, that goes something like - ' ramona was a loner but she turned me down'.

  • Danelectro _Longhorn_ Bass! Cool!

  • Danelectro Bullhorn Bass! Cool!

  • Who said Sweet was gay? Some immature child born in the 80's? It was called Glam Rock you fool. Hell, look at the boys like Poison and Motley Crue. All wore make-up in the 80's. Were they gay too? Grow up!!!!

  • @TheWildOne10 omg so true, i grew up in the eighties and just look at how bon jovi used to dress and they certainly arent gay, like you say, glam rock is what it was called , it was an era of music just like the new romantics of the eighties

  • wish i was with u brian luv u always

  • Comment removed

  • @xena6268 people thought they were gay cos of the way they dressed

  • @MrKeith28 No they never. Its only since then that young men have been brainwashed into thinking "big and baggy" is the uniform for "men"

No generation had dressed like these guys before - and for many people these guys were shocking, worrying and a sign of degeneration.

  • @xena6268 People didn't think they were gay. It's small-minded you-tube people who were not around in the 70's who think that.

  • wig wam bam wished i'd made brian my man luv u always r i p sweetie x x

  • @xena6268 Brian Connolly was a very under-rated lead singer but he ended up a sad, pathetic alcoholic, dead at the age of 51. Go to Youtube don't Leave Me this way, look down the list and click on the channel 4 documentary under that title. If you haven't seen it before, you'll be shocked. I can't figure out why a guy who seemed to have everything to live for could destroy himself like that.

  • @MikeMuk1 So perhaps in memory of the things Brian did right we should just remember him as a brilliant singer and let the rest ....well just rest .

  • @CatSwanson Well said; well said indeed.

  • @MikeMuk1 It seems to me that you have a harsh and very judgemental attitude towards people who, for whatever reason, become alcoholics.

Do you really believe that anyone deliberately sets out - when they first start drinking alcohol - to become an alcoholic? A great many experts today believe that alcoholism is a geniune mental illness, which has a genetic basis - and that it is NOT an indication of weakness of character, lack of self-control/moral fibre, etc, etc.

  • As your listen to music like this, do any of you feel those vibrant, teenage sexual undertones that drove our hormones wild back then: the same that I are driving my memories right now? Any of you who grew up as teens in the '70's will know of what I speak.

  • @jeff62rey

    i'm 53

now i class this music as the ' sioux sexy seventies'

  • hard bastids

  • Glam rock at it's campy best... ...but as far as I know they were all straight, even the guy who's made up like a girl... ...and the beat/guitar riffs are very punk rock, five years before the Sex Pistols exploded on to the UK rock scene.

  • brian connolly what a gorgeous guy

  • love this

  • bring back the 70s

  • fantastic

  • great fun.not heard this in 30yrs.

  • Great ! This should have been on that "Glam Rock" video tape...Of course ,they were'nt Gay. Women LOVE this stuff , and they gave 'em what they wanted (Better believe it.) . But , if any of them had been , God , who cares? Andy Scott is still touring w/ a version of Sweet. Saw then 3 times , once with Mick Tucker. They rocked . Not like having Brian , but they said he was approached , but could'nt keep it together. See that doc. on him. Heartbreaking. Painful to watch.

  • I bet if they were all still alive they could fill the O2 stadium.

  • emsjo.com liked it and it matches my new tatto

  • This is what REAL music is all about..................bring back the 70's

  • This is a band I would love to see live. While there is a version out there with Steve Priest The lead singer really cant be replaced. RIP Brian , wish you had hung in through the hard times.

  • @laungdog I saw Priest's Sweet a couple years back, they were actually pretty dam good considering I'm a die hard Connelly fan, I was in awe of Steve Priest anyway. See them if you get the chance!

  • I saw them too, as you said not bad . Still as I have mentioned somewhere like CCR wihtout Fogerty

  • definatly not thier best... am pretty sure during this time they were playing others songs..... rock on with love it lik oxygen... and later albums..

  • In love that lass in the yellow and black stripey jumper, dancing like a good'n at 0:28

  • I don't know why this is Sweet's most viewed song on Youtube. Check their other songs, too! They made a lot of good music, not only this kind of poprock but also hardrock and other types of good rock. Check it out!! :)

  • @iFabianRS They were way more popular in Europe, was a huge hit there, never really played in the states same with blockbuster pretty cool montage done to the healer you have probably seen it, else check that out

  • total fuckin' GLAM. they are so cool.

  • Wow, thank you King Dork for introducing me to this :D

  • I didn't know about sweet until about a year ago , been liking them a lot , I must have herd

them in the 70 s , I am glad I have refreshed my memory, they are hot.love to listen .

  • Thank you sandi43 ,I hear often older - the old way ect. is better in sweets case these

guys just rock out mighty fine. RK.

  • 0.30 upskirt

  • Why didnt i know about these guys. I've been watching all todays stuff when i didnt realize my favorite music is actually by sweet..and their hot :)

  • These guys were the tops.

Totally professional,Great Showmanship, First Class Musicians,A tremendous stage act, whose enjoyment at what they were doing came across so strongly to the audiences at their concerts.

Never seemed to take themselves seriously, which of course was part of their charm.

Typified not only the popular music of the day( which was far more fun then),but also the lifestyle and culture of a bygone era, that alas has gone forever and will never return,

  • these guys are so awesome

  • 59 people were accidently listening to Fallout Boy

  • Wish I would have been around at that time....Brian is HOT!!!!

  • @tammy2563 BRIAN IS DEAD YOU FUCKING DICK HEAD

  • NONE OF THEM WERE GAY ALL HAD LADY PARTNERS AND WIVES THANK YOU

  • @sylvie833

Amazing in 2011 we hear retarded comments about this. never heard anyone talk about them being gay in the 70s. Most likely these comments are from from morons who were not around in the 70s and cannot understand the diversity of the era.

  • @RTT8001 yep, they were glam rock in this era, they were supposed to make a scene

  • @RTT8001 no there were no gays in sweet they were all married blokes , look if people dont like them fine , but we do so toddle off and pester someone else
