Anyone who still believes that global warming is going to kill us all is an idiot. All global warming theories have been proven wrong with actual data, the world is acting completely normal, let's just let it do it's thing. ANWR needs to be drilled. If anyone doesn't realize this, the process would not be that damaging since we have a lot of the facilities already there, plus, the alaskan pipeline is not that bad environmentaly, in fact, it was built around the enviroment.

I don't understand the sense in drilling in ANWR... At the current rate of oil consumption, not to mention consumption rising 2% a year, tapping into ANWR alone would only yield us 1.4 years of oil. It would be an insignificant amount of oil and a waste of a natural landscape.

More importantly, as the permafrost thaws out due to global warming, it will likely be impossible to send the oil through pipelines without spillage.

Read some science for once. ANWR is in the migration path of the Porcupine caribou herd. The drilling will take place in the calving grounds which will drastically impact reproduction rates. The native peoples live off the caribou. Maybe if this country did not consume somuch damn oil, we would not be tempted to destroy our own country for our jet skis and v8 trucks.

2,000 acres. All we will do is put a few oil towers in 2,000 acres out of 17 million. We will then be able to reach 8 million acres underground.
