  • Bloody fantastic!

  • Another Aussie here. Who cares where you come from as long as you appreciate these guys, like I do. How did the filth (Islam) get a mention here?

  • This is my favourite song. I listen to metal and punk rock and loads of other music but nothing will be better than this.

It was the first song daddy (I'm twelve and yes, I still call him daddy) taught me how to sing.

I want it played at my funeral, and I want it played at my wedding. It's that special, that beautiful. :)

  • Gaddafi is human hero! we'll remember you deeply!

  • @chrysina2011 dickhead - fuck off !

  • @Dutchy1965

thanks, perhaps you miss everything that happened on 11.Sep.? your dam country should be ruled by Gaddafi.

  • @Dutchy1965

you need to be ruled by Gaddafi

  • i thought willie nelson was racist?

  • Why would you think that?

  • Why? becaus he is white and is a country singer?. Closed minded fool, Willie is far from being racist.

  • @Kingtunice fucktard.

  • @Dutchy1965 We're proud of being Aussie. :)

  • the real legends!!!!

  • It was a privilege to watch that video.

  • Ray Charles and Willie Nelson, are both AWESOME!

  • willie is my God babsanfredrik in Sweden

  • OK. it was written by Eddie Setser and Roy Seals (Father of Jim Seals of Seals and Croft). There is no definitive historical basis fof the the narrative. It could be placed anywhen from the Mex-US war to the 2nd Mex civil war. Basically it is a mytho-historic narrative which can fit anywhere in the narrative of US frontier history in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

  • they are two great artists. this is no comparison to them. Just a statement. When my husband sings this song it will make you cry. It is a beautiful song!

  • Willie's a Gentleman

  • What does Willie say at the very beginning? "Put a leslie on it????

    What's a leslie?

  • A Leslie is a lever that gives a range of vibrato to the sound of a Hammond organ. You hear it best in Rock-n-Roll songs " Oy Ye Como Va" and "Evil Woman" by Santana. Greg Rollie played those solos beautifully.

  • Thanks, learn something new everyday

Whatever it is, it sounds dang good with these two and this song!!!

  • The "Leslie" was a speaker cabinet that had a rotating speaker in it and it was most commonly used with the Hammond organ though it was also used by guitarists sometimes. The electronic phase shifter pretty much replaced the Leslie as it was housed in a small "stomp box" as opposed to the typical Leslie cabinet that was about the size of a recliner.

  • Thanks! So what does it mean in music, to put a "Leslie" on that? Or are they not even talking about the actual musical notes?

  • triplehesy described the sound pretty good except vibrato is an actual or percieved changing of a notes pitch. Tremelo is probably a better word to use. Tremelo is a changing of the volume and/or tone of a note. I don't want to sound too technical here, it's probable best to describe how the Leslie worked. The cabinet that housed the rotating speaker had an opening on one side and as the speaker rotated the volume of the speaker would raise and fall as well as the tone changing.

  • Was curious about this too. Anyone know what this means music wise?

  • there voices dont mesh, lol. opposites attract. both sound superb in extraordinaryt ways.

  • i love this song. it is amazing.

  • Two greats..how fortunate for the folks in the audience that night.

  • Their voices don't mesh very well, but what a great song! I also like that they are so focused on their collaboration together. A godd performance, not a great one, but wouldn't you have given your right arm to have been in the audience?

  • if you would give your right arm it is a great performance

  • in the west of Scotland - country & soul always get a response - I,ve loved this for years - willie&Ray !

  • one of the best pieces of footage on uyoutube!

  • wat has this world come to if someone cant make a simple comment abouut a song i love without having to explain myself to the world

and all because of a few spelling errors

  • I know we have a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland but is there a music legends HOF for folks like Willieand Ray and Robert Johnson and Elvis and Patsy Cline and Frank Sinatra and ok...maybe even Lawrence Welk and Glen Miller....I'm just sayin....

  • This is another great old song that, no matter how many times I hear it, gives me chicken skin (lol babsanfredrik, I thought I was the only one who said that) even if I play it repeatedly. Funny how theres no "new country" that does that?

  • chicken skin always when Willie sings

    Barbro in Sweden

  • I'd never heard Willie singing with Ray Charles! (Is it a federal law that no American singer is allowed to have a career without singing at least one song with Willie Nelson?!)

  • If its not a Federal law, it should be...Lol, sorry Im a HUGE Willie fan!

  • I don't think the is a Federal law but maybe there should be one.

  • No it is not a federal crime, but what a thrill it is for people who have the extreme honor of singing and playing with him.

  • Ruth, I pray for you with my Seven Spanish Angels.

  • what a song by two tallented guys from way back ole country ,seen willie in pitttsburgh with my father and the memories will last forever, dad i miss you and think about you everyday.rest in peace PAP

  • willie looks disgusted at 3:34

  • I play rock guitar most know my name I love this song

  • This can be a stupid question but, since this is the first time I heard this song (it's beautiful indeed) I still don't understand why those 7 angels were spanish. Why spanish? I don't have any problem with spaniards either (I am spanish myself), but its just... curiosity.

  • total random guess, but I think it's trying to invoke catholic imagery which is very commonly associated with hispanic culture.

  • Well... yes, It can be... Thanks!

  • this song makes me shiver, I've been playin my whole life. And I'm stunned by this song, it's beautiful.

  • country state of mind

  • AWESOME

  • Being blind isn't an excuse for knowing how to spell - or where the letters are on a keyboard... try again

  • i wasnt using my sight as an evcuse

was trying to point out that folk realy should get all the facts be4 macking comments about folks spelling and the like

  • I can't believe some "no it all" made a comment on a blind person spelling. Somebody tell this THICK that he/she is posting on the internet and is likely to come across a broad spectrum of people and their special needs. My Apologies to 4evaadamsgirl if you take offense to my comments I know you are more than capable of fighting your corner. By the way Ray Charles is Legend!! n Willie not's bad either.

  • hey its nice to know tat not every one is as small minded as some who post on here thank u

  • Its truly inspirational to see this wonderful song that shows there can be at least some peace and understanding through music

  • Great song. I love Willie and Ray too. Both so happy and such positive wonderful people no matter what happened in their lives. Looooove the song!!!

  • MIŠO KOVAČ!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ray charles is one of the best ever he is up there with elvis and michael

  • Micheal who???

  • Chills.. thats all i have to say... whole body...he was truly a Great Man.. and a true Performer

  • My favorite song that has Willie Nelson in it

  • beatiful song! You see, we do not need BO to achieve racial harmony, it happened in the 1990's and the 1864's!

  • We do not need BO for anything. He is just a sign of the times. He is the first and probably too complacent (without a choice) at this point... It is easy to get assassinated to forward your ideas too much. Side note: Many other countries in the world favor peace.. .Americans always focus on the bad stuff. I challenge people to focus on perfecting their favorite recipe to share with the world... invent a new instrument. Begin a world hunger campaign with no religiosity attached. Hard? Try it!

  • What the heck is BO?

  • Yea really, what the hell is BO? We always used this for "Body Odor"

  • Would someone please tell me who the heck BO is?

  • coca cola ftw...

  • i`m not american , just a european, but the song let tears flow free. AMAZING

  • this song is just downright depressing and sad. I listen to this song just to feel some pure, heartfelt emotion.

my friend and I were listening to this song one day while driving and we both teared up.

  • Priceless!

  • wonderfull!

  • my favorite Willie Nelson song and a great duet

  • does anyone else think that bassist looks like chuck norris?

i am completely in love with song, have been for nearly ten years. i'm 15 years old.

  • timeless music...generations can enjoy this

  • Legendary!

  • just... perfect!

  • sem palavras

  • aye cause ray would know cause willie bought a braill can of of coke

  • blasphemy!!! Willie nelson drinking a "coke" in the presence of Ray who endorsed Pepsi!!

  • Ray Charles sang "Things Go Better With Coca-Cola" on a lp that was published at least in Norway once in the 70's :)

  • How's Ray gonna know unless someone tells him...pepsi is more of a lightweight drink (I used to drink a 12pak+ a day...but if I was having a bad day, I'd drink a coke. Now I just drink Sunkist Orange and am a much happier person partly because I switched. :)

  • Thanks for informing me on your soft drink regiment, now I can sleep at night.

  • That was awesome

  • after i left my last comment i got messages from othe young fan of willi

just wanted to say it good to see and here that am not the only one from my generation who can apreciate a great man with an amazzing voice 2 two geat men

  • Honey, you need to lay off the texting and take a vocabulary class. It's depressing to see people mistake here for hear, and the fact you can't spell 5 very simple words...along with punctuation mistakes...it makes me wonder what in the world is are we becoming? Third World comes to mind.

  • After berating some poor soul because of their grammar, you write ...."it makes me wonder what in the world IS are we becoming?" Exactly which third world country are you from ? You should be careful when you throw those rocks.

  • I stand corrected and I'm very happy when people take the time to politely chastise my mistakes. If I had a hat on, I'd tip it for you. Point made and taken.

  • haha! good call

  • @elyulsessence I know this was posted 2 years ago but I think you need to check what you wrote too - "what in the world is are....." - hoping you've learnt not to criticise others in the meantime

  • @elyulsessence my apologies - i should've kept reading - I see you were corrected by others and your response was gracious

  • genius

  • this song is to my grandpa may he rip i love you

  • rest his soul ..

my g pa is in the hospital and loves willie

this song is giving me hope

  • i sure do wonder if willie was sharing that joint with mr. ray charles

  • They just make me smile. The sad part is who is going to replace them.

  • Try not to look at it that way. These are musical icons that can never be replaced. But instead, they're something to emulate, and draw inspiration from.

What's great, is their music is eternal, so in a way they will never truly die. :D

  • bbbustedflush,

  • Willie will be around for a while. He said on his 75th that the only thing he's p____d about is that he has outlived his d__k. Long live Willie. Wish Waylon and Johnny were still around.

  • great duo. love the song. don't know if willie has much longer left to live

  • willie will live for ever

  • Wow...They dont make them like that anymore...Two SUPERSTARS...RIP RAY

  • Now thats a lie.. ;-) The point is that producers TRY to make them that way..but no artist is ment to be a copy of anyone ...thats the point of being an artist! And thats when things fall apart! But nowadays companies have a different point of view..

  • I just love this tune, always have. Ray Charles, Wille Nelson, it dosen't get any better than this! Thanks for putting this up!
