  • I'm a fan of ALW productions (especially his LND and POTO) but I gotta say that this was freaking hilarious!!!!! XD Hey I just have a better sense of humor than most fans. Plus, I really did not like the book anyways. I thought about reading it and then heard it was really bad so I didn't even bother. I'm glad I didnt

  • It's times like this when I thank God for not making Love Never Dies this screwed up. XD

    Hahah, love your vids!

  • @TheGreenified True. I mean, as much as I HATE that demonic spawn, at least it kept out some of the things I hated about "Manhattan", including, but not limited to, making Darius the villain, making Erik's career have nothing to do with music except for the Civil War opera, and, above all, OPENLY dissing Leroux. While LND pisses all over the original novel, at least the prologue of "Love Never Dies" doesn't involve a Leroux-bashing monologue by Madame Giry or something.

  • LMAO oh lord the dr phil moment is priceless lol

  • Awesome:D LOL I LOVED IT! TWO THUMBS WAY UP:)

  • This was priceless! Between this and PhantomReviews I know to just watch these videos and save myself the mental strain of trying to get through the book. :)

  • wow, that was really funny!

  • The Phantom of the Opera can't have a sequel. I love the story and I wish there was more of it, but the only thing that will come out of trying to make a sequel is pointless crap . . . like The Phantom of Manhattan.

  • wait WHAT? I read the book today--and how did I miss that he was 'addicted to drugs'?! I never heard ANY of that?!

  • baaaahahaha Crappy book even crapper musical. Thanks for sharing.

  • Love this video !

  • as sad as this is (i can't believe ANYone would put this on broadway), this is absolutely hilarious.

  • nah, they are changing it a lot...

  • OMG, what is the audio from at 3:50? And 5:31? And whats the video (which version)? And the ending song?

I loved this! I'm sending this to my friends!

  • 3:50 is from snoopy, the musical

  • and 5:31 is from the emperor's new groove.

  • i was totally prepared for some complete ALW Phantom bashing...but none came! Serisously, I'm one of those "die-hard Andrew Lloyd Webber fans" you spoke of in the video info and none of that was offensive to me. So you might want to try a little bit harder...

  • @swedegirl13 I was trying to bash "Phantom of Manhattan", not necessarily ALW or his version of PotO. I put the warning there because there are some CRAZY ALW fanatics out there (the ones who think he's God's gift to musical theater and EVERYTHING he touches turns to gold--if you're one of those, no offense :) ) THOSE fans think even making a light joke is a criminal offense and God forbid you even suggest ALW's a plagiarist.

  • @amoresek2 Oh, of course! Nobody will ever remember Lon Chaney as the title character in the 1925 silent film (considered by some to be one of the greatest silent horror movies of all time), Ken Hill's musical, the 1943 Claude Raines version, or any other incarnation of Phantom. Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical is the only thing people like about Phantom, and the only thing people know about it. except that some people have read the book, too, but they don't count.

    Really?

  • @hazellwood THANK YOU!!!!!!! :)

  • @TheaterRaven Always glad to help out a fellow phan. As for the video: Very creative use of Lion King clips. I love you for it.

  • @hazellwood Are you kidding me?? Now that I've seen the other versions of PotO, the musical isn't my favorite (by far!!) anymore. I'd say the 1990 Charles Dance one or the silent one or even the Claude Rains one are my favorites. I don't think you can be called a true phan if all you've seen is ALW's movie/musical. There's just so much more to the phandom than that. :\

  • @PhantomInTraining

... I was kidding. That entire thing was sarcastic.

  • @hazellwood ... I'm sorry........ I didn't see the other comment the dude made....... And I'm not good at detecting sarcasm in real life, let alone through text XD

  • LOL! This is the best POM video ever!

I almost had a heart attack when I found out about the sequel. The announcements about its plot didn't help my near-death experiences either.

  • 2:57...O.O; Did Erik just do what I think he did?

  • @McXahn Yep, he grabbed her boob. O_o

  • :O Oh mai

  • @TheaterRaven IT BURNS!!!

  • @amoresek2 When I said "wow" I was being sarcastic. :) And there are plenty of other talented, unknown artists who could carry the Phantom's name and tradition on. :) Just saying. Have a nice day.

  • @amoresek2 Wow. That's all I can say is wow.

  • @amoresek2 I love "The Phantom of the Opera", but I for one have a respect for its history and know it existed long before Andrew Lloyd Webber's version came out. Just because I'm not thrilled about the idea of the squel doesn't mean I don't like the story. And I love Erik, the Phantom, whatever you want to call him. I love him dearly. You want to go see the sequel, fine, I won't ruin it for you, go ahead, have a good time.

  • @amoresek2 "I am sure ALW will not let this be a flop, everything he touches turns to gold."

Ah, so you're one of *those*. Well, then, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Personally, I know ALW is human and not God's gift to musical theater and that some of his shows have been sucessful and some haven't, so, we will just have to see how his LND turns out. Good day. :)

  • @amoresek2 First of all, this was a PARODY, a joke, something meant to be humorous, second of all, the sequel and anything associated with it is a disgrace to Leroux's original story. It's belittling, arrogant, condescending, and just has a downright terrible plot. A two-year-old could have written something better. "Til I Hear You Sing" can't hold a wet match much less a lit candle to any of the songs from Lloyd Webber's first show.

  • I would rather read all 4 books in the Horrible Twilight Saga with my eyelids sewn to my eyebrows to prevent blinking, and a 10 inch smile carved into my face in similarity to Gwilplaine from The Man Who Laughs than see this bullshittory displayed on the holy stage of theatre for the public to see. >.>

  • LOL the APPLE! Avenue Q! BOGART (who I love btw)!

    Dark and stormy morning... lol

    I'm cracking up.

I love your other videos btw (Man who laughs...)

  • Phantom of Manhattan was a disgrace, not only to the POTO story, but to literature. Hoewever, do not let this discourage you, Love never dies does not follow POM's plot, it has been changed and re-written!!!

  • Hi TheaterRaven, it's me! :)

Is this how the book "The Phantom of Manhattan" goes?

I understood it exist only in German so I couldn't read it.

If there is an English copy of it could you please give me a link to read/buy it?

  • @Mor7682 Wotchoo talking about? it's easily accessible in English. It was written in English by Frederick Forsyth. There's usually half a dozen copies at libraries (because nobody wants to check it out).

  • Hi, check out my YouTube channel for a full review of this terrible book. Whatever you do, DONT BUY IT! That would only encourage him to do another.

  • @PhantomReviews: Don't even put the idea that he might do another one in my mind .-.

  • Forsyth wrote some very good action thrillers in the 70s, why the hell he tried to write a Phantom sequel i do not know, why not get Danielle Steel to write the next Star Trek movie???

  • Tickets for Phantom: Love Never Dies go on sale in England October 8th. The show opens in March.

  • Someone drop a chandelier on me. Please.

  • Sorry, don't have one handy. I'm busy dropping one on myself. I read an interview ALW did. He said that his version doesn't stick to the book. Well here's hoping anyway.

  • madamegiry61 what is this "Phantom: Love Never Dies"? A show/play/movie about the Phantom? Or a parallar world about how things might have been?

  • @Mor7682 It is the sequel to "Phantom" for the stage. Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote it and based it loosely on Phantom of Manhattan.

  • it's like one of those old Star Trek episodes where Guinan realizes shes in a parallel universe and has to fix the space-time continuum to make sure this sequel never happens!

  • What?! They have sex? And change of heart meaning: i let you and rauol go? or Dorago, man, I let them go?

  • According to Forsyth, the Phantom and Christine have sex somewhere between the unmasking in PoNR and when Raoul arrives in the lair. So the Phantom's line "that fate which condemns me to wallow in blood/has also denied me the joys of the flesh" has either mysteriously gone out the window or it just proves Forsyth and Lloyd Webber are both pompous asses appealing to the teeny bopper Phans who are like, "OMG, the Phantom and Christine belong together because they're SOUL MATES!!!!!!!!"

    Ugh.

  • That is why I am so worried about the musical, unless they change certain things in the musical. I do hope they do, or else they are just hopeless and I will never be able to enjoy Phantom of the Opera again.

  • I looked it up - Madame Giry mentions that Christine was "shocked and swooning" when she and Raoul were found by the mob. Is that what you're referring to? Do you happen to have the quotes? I can't find an online copy of the book.

  • Yeah, and also I'm almost certain Christine mentioned something about that to Erik during their conversation in the Coney Island mirror room, but I don't have the exact quotes. I have the book (it was a gift!) but I have no idea where it is--I stuffed it away after my eyes read its horrors.

  • HILARIOUS!!!!! I love it!

Although I just wanted to note - the book never makes it clear when the Phantom and Christine slept together - it certainly doesn't make out that it was rape.

And the footage you have from Phantom (the stage version) is fantastic! Where did you get it?

  • Thanks.

The footage is from a behind-the-scenes documentary on the 2004 film DVD.

Really, it doesn't? I could have sworn that Forsyth mentioned in the preface that they slept together in between "Down Once More" and the final lair scene. And I'm pretty sure it's suggested that it was rape--Christine mentions that she was only half-conscious when it happened, that the Phantom took advantage of that fact, so yeah, it seems to me like he raped her.

  • whoa.......

  • laughing hysterically...

  • I was laughing hysterically throughout the whole thing, but I'm still completely and utterly MORTIFIED!!!

If ALW continues in this endeavor, I hope he makes some HUGE and SERIOUS changes or Lord help us phans.

  • That...was.. AWESOME!!! I hate, hate, HATE Phantom of Manhattan, don't understand how ALW can, could, or even would WANT to make a sequel musical out of it. But this spoof is so awesome it makes me want to read my copy and read as much insanity into it as you have! Awesome job, 5 stars, and this is sooo favorited!!!

  • Agreed. This book just fails on every level. Kind of like the Dario Argento version of the phantom. Haha and no, i didn't think the steve harley and Sarah Brightman music video could get more disturbing!!!

  • LMFAO, => lol. Love it.

  • I want to see the musical just to see how bad it really is, but I don't want to fork over my money for a sequel based on a book that is painful to read.

Bad Andy! Go to the corner and think about what you've done!

Andy may still surprise us, though, but considering what he and Schumacher did with the 2004 film, my expectations are very low.

  • Right this is the one thing I dont get at all...how the hell is Erik Pierre's dad when he and Christine never, you know?

  • Well, according to the awful novel "Phantom of Manhattan" by Frederick Forsyth, on which the sequel is based, Christine and Erik DID. Apparently, she was half-conscious from fear when he was taking her down to the lair after she unmasked him during "Don Juan Triumphant". In short, he raped her.

  • Thank you for telling me that. Because Ive never read the novel, and I probably never will. So Erik raped Christine, thats the most amazing storyline ever! (sarcasm) x]

  • rob27003, seriously? "The Phantom of Manhattan" is an insult to Erik (yes, I believe he lived, as Leroux claimed) and his life's story, not to mention the original Leroux novel and all the wonderful inspirations it's brought to so many people. The only reason ALW likes the "book" is because it's so heavily based off his version. If it was any other published "Phantom" based fan fiction, he wouldn't give it a second glance.

  • L.M.F.A.O!!!!

  • Wow.......I heard bad things about this book and now that I heard about the plot......it's worse than I thought. Remind me NEVER to read the book or watch the movie

  • LOL That was brilliant!!! I've never read the book and now I never will XP

btw, have to agree with you there. Sometimes we tend to spend hours for finding just the right word.

  • please... please tell me this was a phanfiction... not the actual thing...

hilarious video by the way, it made my day XD

  • UGH NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOO! I hate that book! I hate it, I hate it I hate it! Oh-just a note Mme Giry is the bad guy in the sequel, not Daruis. I don't know what Erik does from there though...UGH! I can't believe my Forsyth! He should be punjabbed to death! Erik, kill him and Sir Andy now! I like the casting of the reporter though. I think that I'm only going to see the sequel so it can scar me for life...

  • Wow, those are some strong emotions there, friend! I nearly fell over lauging though! I rather liked the theme song bit. Curse Andrew Lloyd Weber and praise the poor cat! God rest his soul! Thanks for telling me about this vid, made my day!

  • Ha ha, I know! No problem. I thought I'd share the laughs. I showed it to Shelby and she even laughed! Jess didn't get it though. The video made my day too, I love suggesting things to you because I know that you'll watch them/read them and love them as much as I do. RIP Otto!

  • Yeah, thats really funny because you're the only person I take suggestions from! Rachel could ask me to do something and I'd say "Sure" and never ever do it! I really loved this video!

  • wow, I feel honored now. But it's the same with me. Des could tell me to go watch something but I never will.

  • ew! ew! ew! this CANNOT happen!! please, andrew- come to your senses and put a stop to this madness!!!

  • hahahaha i love the Avenue Q refernce to the song ...there is life outside your apartment

  • he he he you made me laugh.

But seriously, phantom of manhatten? why would alw think this?

  • uumm

  • HAHAHAHAHAAA

I can't wait to see "Love Never Dies" because trainwrecks are still entertaining dammit.

  • So.. Why did people stop caring about Eriks deform face?

  • God ALW take some alzheimers meds and go sit down. Love the vid BTW

  • Christine dies!? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Stupid author!

  • i fingering the computer in spite of angrey of this extreme stupid movie. your vid good it's just andrew webber is a douche! fuck you man, where ever you are, fuck you!

  • 6:47 ROFL, so true

  • That was..... umn.......it was dissipointing to say the least that there making a play on that. But it doesn't sound too bad. Oh who am I kidding kill me now!!

  • This is awkward.......I'm scared. *hides* But Andrew no new musical please

  • This is the stupidest story ever. Andrew is even insane as the Phantom.

  • ... This? This is the story webber used to base his musical off of? Oh. My. Why? ... I knew it was bad and I knew the gist of it but this is so horrid....

  • haha..WHAT?!! lol...i am so shocked..still going to see the book for myself tho. Thanks for the vid .:D

  • I do have to congrateualte you for one finishing that abomination of the book and making that steve and brightman video even more distrubing.

I coudlnt' get past like chapter 1 or 2 it was to much of a raping for my eyes

  • Wow... this sucks.

    Not the vid, the book.

  • lol,i cant stop watching this.

  • This is brilliant.

I haven't read Phantom of Manhattan yet and I don't know it I ever will. But I am curious about it. I want to see for myself how terrible it is.

I'll get my vomit bag ready when (if) I do read it.

  • you're such a genius...AND I MEAN IT...

  • man i was so happy there was going to be a sequel and then i read the book..... serious Sir Webber....what the heck are you trying to do? set a record for worst sequel ever?!?!

    -shudders-

  • haha.... I thought that the sequel would be nice.... and then I read the book. OH GOD! Save us again, Andrew Lloyd Weber's cat... (the story sucks)

  • OH MY GOD. That was so genius and so hilarious. I was cracking up the entire time! Nice use of Avenue Q!

  • Thanks, and yeah, I just had to use the "Sit in the park smoking pot" for drug addict Erik and the "You can be as loud as the hell you want" line for that OTHER part. :) Glad you liked.

  • OMG ! I called all the phans ! WE MUST DON'T LET THE LEGEND FALL ! so BOYCOTT THE SEQUEL !!!

  • ....lol thats funny no perosn on earth would write a story that bad, espcially about the phantom...hehehe..right...love the Disney music though im scared now i have to buy the book thank you (ugh im gunna kill myself)

  • OMG!!! hahahahahah I just died laughing I think!!! Ooooor maybe I died because that IS actually the plot of the sequel. Poor Sir Andy...he's gone senile. One of his kids should put him in a nursing home or something...wait, does he have kids??? I know he has a cat who erased the first part of the score for the sequel...which means the cat is more intelligent than anyone involved with the sequel and should get his master some professional help.

  • ...........did you catch that this is a bash on that aweful, horrible excuse for a sequel???

  • Yeah, ghelik1890, this is a bash on the sequel--a harmless, all-in-fun bash, but a bash nonetheless.

And PoM is "very nicely written" and "better than the original PotO book", better than *Leroux*????? Blasphemy!!!!!!!!

I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, but, sweet Lon Chaney, Sr., PoM better than *Leroux*????? . . .

  • LOL @ the Pocahontas music & the Avenue Q music.

I cried when I read the book--they weren't good tears

  • Nice.

  • Ah, but is Darius evil *incarnate*?

  • Well, I don't know about evil *incarnate*, but he's pretty ruthless in what Forsyth wrote.

  • Kudos for using HoND music. =D

  • hehe all of the disney songs! I kept hearing it was awful and was going to go read it just to see HOW awful it was, but now....shudder...Haha Erik becomes a drug addict and just drugs himself up to the eyeballs all day...wooohoooo...hehe

  • Sequel to phantom of the Opera that's just disgusting. What's wrong with Andrew Lloyd Webber? drrr sequel... the very thought SICKENS me!!... sorry i spazzed...

  • OH! thank heavens some else feels this way, obessed phan of POTO here but ALW is messing with fire if he going to put a sequal on stage not mention he's basing it on a crappy novel! i mean come on!!! go out with a bang not a flop!

  • You inspired me to make a trailer for the sequel which is pretty similar to this-it's posted right now if you care to watch.

  • God, what a travesty. So many WTF moments in that story. Not even morbid curiosity would make me read this book. lol

  • i like the sound of the ending.. but the rest of it sounds like shit! sounds like a combination of susan kay's brillant book and dung flung around a monkey's cage.

and where did you get those magnificant clips of the play?! i want!!!!!

  • Thanks, glad you liked. :)

Most of the clips of the stage show are from the behind-the-scenes documentary that's on the 2-disc special edition DVD of the 2004 film.

  • BRAVO!

  • lol i am for the sequal as long as it is tastefully done...i love the sit in the park smoking pot part...lol

i really hope they leave out the robot part

  • LOL that's EXACTLY what the book was like. ROFL. great job making fun of it. lol i liked the disney songs btw

  • I was hoping that with the ending of the first movie he might fall for meg.....bummer

  • so true...so very very true.. WHY ANDREW LLOYD WEBER!!??? WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS PIECE OF SHIT??!! I THOUGHT YOU WERE SMART!!! SMART!!!!

  • I really do not like this book at all. I do not understand why Andrew chose this book in the first place to be a sequal. I agree with all of you who would rather have the susan kay's book be made into something instead of The Phantom of Manhattan. Leroux, I am sure would be turning over in his grave about now!

  • -__- Geez I HATED the Phantom of Manhattan book! Why, just why?! I really hope this doesn't move into production; I'll probably just end up boycotting it anyway. xD

I think Susan Kay's "Phantom" needs a movie of it's own. That was was the best Phantom book only surpassed by the original.

xD I kinda think AWL should just let the tPoM rot like it should be. ^_~

  • From my understanding Andrew Lloyd Webber is in the process of making this new musical, but yeah the ending was sad, but the book left WAY to much to be desired... and expected...

  • well the only good thing to come out of this... is that my friend would be great casting for Pierre...

  • the fact they 'have a child' pisses me off the most i think

  • while this made me laugh the thought of such a horrible sequel makes me cry.

  • i hope Andrew makes this worth while... it'd be really sad if he killed it more than it was already killed by the author, who was insane! i mean CRAZY i started to read this got half way through and threw the book under my bed never to see the light of day again, it was a disgrace to Gaston and Erik. Why couldn't they have done a musical about his life before he met Christine? Like Susan Kays?! grrr oh well i'm still gunna go see it

  • I read the book...I was not impressed. They killed my favorite character in the first chapter!!!! Grrrrrrrr!!!

  • I hate the whole book. Every copy of that book should be burned.

  • Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...why did Andrew Lloyd have to pick that version to make into a musical? If he was gonna make a sequel that wouldn't make the fans want to die why not use a better one like Susan Kay's "Phantom"? I despise this book. You are hilarious!!!

  • OMG I feel the same way! I read it ages ago, and hated it, then I got it out again recently for the purpose of discussion, and I swear I had to do everything to stop me from tearing the book and burning it into little pieces!! Who thinks there should be a petition to stop the sequel from becoming a musical? If anyone finds one, let me know!

  • I am a HUGE POTO fan. I am not a fan of this sequel. The fact that Webber's CAT deleted the music he had been working on should be a sign from GOD that nothing should be done to make a sequel.

  • ((and i loveeee the use of GOOD disney music :P))

  • this is. HYSTERICAL!!!!!

and are they really drug addicts? ohh lorrrrrd what has ALW gotten himself into.

and what was the song about finding purpose from?

  • Glad you liked it. The song about finding purpose is from the musical "Avenue Q". The song, naturally, is called "Purpose". :)

  • lol! is tht da real story line? LOL!

  • Yeah, that's basically the storyline in a nutshell.

  • LOL. Loved it. It would have been funny too if you mentioned Erik becoming a clown.

  • I can hardly see the keys to type with the tears still in my eyes! So Beautiful...so wrong...I love it. Your witt is wonderful!

  • Thank you! :)

  • I was rolling in the aisles - this, my friend, is pure gold!

  • I laughed myself silly. Loved the uses of different bits of music!

  • Now that was hilarious! And made that ridiculous book almost (!) bearable. At least now I can laugh about it.

  • Glad you liked it! :)

  • Bwahahahaha! You crack me up, darling! =D

  • ... I love you. Well done!

  • Awesome! loved it. hilarious
