  • Steven Wilson I'm profoudly inspired by you.

  • People who know hebrew, enjoyed this video

  • most i've ever heard him swear. he must be depressed :P

  • hhhhhh

  • so lame that even those who are old school rock listeners, dont know about the existence of this god. and say that rock music died years ago

  • @lpz2 anyone who says that has no idea what they're talking about.

  • Oh man! I perfectly suit the FoaBP theme of passive youth, drained of curiosity. I feel guilty about it cause i know what i really want is passion, and curiosity. BUT, when that computer is the only thing i've got to do, i jump on it and FWOOM 4 hours have gone by! I played WoW for 3 years and i can confidently say it fucked me up to a point, i didnt care about social activites outside of the game, I barely cared about school, heck, i barely care about school NOW! Geez, whats becoming of us.

  • @killercreek450 It'll change ;)

  • @psychosocialx TRUE

  • 2:50 on... PRICELESS.

  • im 18 and agree with all of this! hip hop isnt what it was and music in general i think isnt the same, its more about images, money and a competition. I dont listen to the radio or watch tv really, due to it all being force fed crap, i spend most my time writing songs, recording, practicing, listening, reading and just generally aiming to be a better musician but with a keen interest learning of worldwide things...the stuff kids my age would say is boring or nerdy

  • @jordno haha man u sound just like me. people wonder how the hell i can just sit around and do that kinda stuff all day lol.

  • preach

  • 3:50 It makes you depressed Mr. Wilson it makes you very depressed.

  • @SRNF It makes YOU very depressed!

  • it's so nice to hear his voice !...

but the greatest thing is to listen to what he speaks about. He's a very smart and thinking person.

  • Same here! I absolutly love this man and Porcupine Tree, I listen to them all the time. :)

  • children today are subliminally programmed by the mainstream media, they dont even realize what is going on, they think they do, but thats part of the problem that cant be fixed, sexism of our children, numbing of the senses, the new world order is gaining speed, this makes me feel helpless as a single father of two, all i can do is keep the tv out of their lives and subject them to REAL THOUGHT PROVOKING art, we do not have an american idol, survivor, etc type of home environment, TURNOFFYOURTV!

  • You're right, switch on the radio and you get hours of crap sounding shit shoved down your throat.

It's all a big distraction; and it works.

  • and youtube and the internet aren't much different, all the misinformation, vicarious entertainment

  • True, but on youtube i am able to choose what i want.

  • @cobainx15 What the business' are trying to do is make money. Whether or not we accept their distractions is our choice.

  • @mitsu4g63t well said man, i agree but don't give up on my generation yet. i think there may be just enough of us free from that mainstream crap to keep art alive, but im not sure

  • AMEN! This man's words about the label, the fans and the media's opinions are so true when it comes to creating music. It is extremely important to completely disregard the opinions of others and please ONESELF to be a true, honest artist.

  • Thank god that I gave a chance to PT. I loved Blackest Eyes but all the other songs didn't stick until a point in my life when I became totally fascinated with PT. That's what happens to me with all my favorite bands - I don't care too much for their music in the beginning, then I become obsessed. Anyway they ARE the best right now, including Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, etc.

    Complete Inspiration

  • you might like oceansize or pinapple thief then

  • and also try muse

  • that's the same for most of my favorite bands, and radiohead is my favorite. i also love tool and porcupine tree.

try riverside, i really like them

  • Yes sir I love Riverside, I didnt mention them because they are not that popular yet, but I think they will get pretty big here in America.

  • i hope so man practically no one knows about them here

  • Wilson is one of the most down to earth guys ever. I would love to meet him just for a second.

  • I just realised that I never heard Steven swear before this. I love him! :)

  • liked the shirt!

  • Great, never knew that many prog/metal artist likes Hip Hop

  • There are many i think who likes old Hip Hop like Public Enemy or NWA. That's back when Hip Hop was good.

  • Nice interview, but it needs to be re-syncronized. :P

  • this video is so out of sync, cool interview though.

  • Awesome, hebrew coke-shirt.

  • LOL IHAVE THIS SHIRT TOO

  • what happened to Morow? It doesn't play on my iTunes library anymore, and the website doesn't appear to exist. This radio station got me through studying for alot of tests! It sucks that I can't find it anymore.

  • I'm afraid it was a victim of the internet radio massacre.

    Blame the labels.

  • THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!!

  • This guys inspiring I`m gunna go write some music right now.

  • true words from a real musician....it's so true all that he says about hiphop...hiphop today has become everything that it scouldn't be!....fuckin' pimp, money and car music!....there are alomst no "true" hiphop artists anymore.

  • What is the song played around 4:40? Anyone know?

  • It's "way out of here" from the new album

  • what the hell does his shirt say?!?! =D...

  • coca cola.

  • haha i have the same shirt. hebrew.

  • is steven wilson jewsih?

  • I doubt it. But he does stay in tel-aviv from time to time to record Blackfield stuff...

  • don't know. sounds like all the love songs are about girls tho, so doesn't seem very likely, but who the hell knows.

  • i dont think so either, i saw an interview where he talks about having kids and getting married, jokingly, but talks about it

  • Has Steven Wilson ever written a blatant love song?

And for God's sake, don't say "Start of Something Beautiful"...

Elton John wrote love songs for girls...

  • sure girls, whatever you say haha.

  • Shesmovedon?

  • Not really a love song so much as an "OMG SHE LEFT ME!!!" song, isn't it?

  • Haha, yes. Well, Not OMG but wallowing in depression stuck in nostalgia, she left me song.

  • who cares anyways...

  • He believes marriage would interrupt his work.

  • what a badass. XD

  • I believe he is. And aviv is his dream-girl-friend :D

  • the song Halo says alot about his opinion of belief

  • Yes, too bad.

  • What do you think is bad?

  • Indeed such a mellow guy, yet very open minded

and downright smart, In tune with himself more

than the average cat of today! LOL

  • He is totally right on everything.

  • I agree with Steven's comments on this current generations stigma to just sit at home and never leave the house. That is a shame (~3:30-4:30).

I am not suprized at all that my fav band, Rush, knows of PT, and listens to them as Alex L. stated.

  • present day god of music

  • good interview!

  • It's a bit like watching a kind of living God. I totally agree with all comments I've read...This guy & his music took me out of despair. I will have the honour to go'N'see PT on stage in a few days, they're be playing in the Olympia concert hall, Paris,France.

  • This man changed my life.

I'm sure im not the only one.

    Thank you steven.

  • i second that

  • I am the third

  • Forth :)

  • me fifth :D

  • And I'm the sixth xD

  • seventh. he's my god.

  • put me down for 8th

  • Neil Peart put out a very brief bulletin on Myspace:

MUST SEE: PORCUPINE TREE! something like that.

also at a recent PT show, there were hundreds of people

there wearing Rush t shirts. a few of us Rush fans have a

worthy new band to love & restore our faith in humanity.

  • I'm sure even deaf people can understand Steven Wilson, considering all that talking with his hands that he does :D

I could listen to him - and watch him - for hours.

  • I thought Rush would like them, because when I saw Rush, and they had the music playing before they went on, there must have been about 5 or 6 PT songs played

  • Steven Wilson is one of the greatest musicians of our time. Anyone who disagrees truly does not understand what music is about.

  • @HATECREWrulz123 I disagree with you. Coz he is one the greatest musicians of ALL time.

  • He defines perfectly what i think in life(a lot of people says the same i think, but im honest) in the first part of the interview that can understand (bad english)i agree in what he says, different point of view that reflects in his music, i love his music.

  • Nice interview!

Say, is it just me, or does it seem like the A/V sync is really off on the YouTube version of this video? The version on DailyMotion doesn't seem to have this problem.

  • One of the most brilliant and magnificent minds on this entire planet.

I will always be constantly in Awe of Steve Wilson.

  • it's ok steve.. i think it's absolutely fantastic and i'm so gracious that musicians like you still exist that write truly original music

  • I totally agree with you!!
