  • A wonderful piece of music, this is.

  • Part of it sounds like breaking glass, or what I would imagine shards of glass would sound like. .quite wonderful, sharp, clear, painful, shattering.

  • haha, 2:35 is a really wierd looking picture

  • Amazing music! I love Mr Meyer!!!

I'm a doublebass player and I'm badly looking for the scores of this Quintet for Stringquartet and Doublebass, recorded with the Emerson string quartet for Deutsche Grammophone few years ago, actually published in 2003, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I've searched the whole internet but not knowing neither the publishing nor if that score has been published, I've found myself lost in this fruitless search. Can somebody help me?

  • Go to your libary

  • If I had found it in my library I wasn't here asking

  • Doing a search for "Edgar Meyer" on iTunes should give you a list of almost all of his available for purchase music.

  • Hi

I've seen on ITunes and obvuously they sell music, while I'm looking for scores.

    Thanx anyway

    Sandro

  • Very sorry, I don't actually know a ton about classical music, so I misunderstood what you meant by "score".

My sister, on the other hand, is a classically-trained pianist, so I asked her if she could find it. She said... "...Meyer has a beef about publishing his stuff (as in mass-produced scores). You won't find the quintet. I think the only thing in print is his violin concerto and that score you can only rent. Yeesh."

He doesn't want people "messing up" his music, more or less. What a diva!

  • Thank you theblasto, I've lost hope in finding that score; I'm still trying to understand why Edgar Meyer's music hasn't been published yet. Maybe you are right: What a diva! He doesn't want people to mess up his fantastic music! How can I blame him?

    Ciao.

  • @sandrofon: Art produced only for oneself is nothing more than masturbation.

  • I agree with you turkeymeister, I just mean let mister Meyer masturbate himself, if this produce his music...

  • @turkeymeister hahaha that is an amazing quote.

  • I can't honestly remember where I got it from >>

But it's quite true, I'd think, especially in this situation.

  • i used to think he was a diva about that too, until I began to realize that he has such a distinct sound, tone, and technique that really can't be recreated. There's such an "EdgarMeyerness" to his music. @theblasto

  • I've always loved this piece.

  • Beautiful!

  • this sounds like a very difficult piece to pull togeather...wow

more people should be watching this video

  • Wonderful. Sounds like Dvorjak, just better because of the added bass!

  • Stunning playing. These guys are more in tune than in tune.
