@mstaten01 haha..nope, but I do love the music. Big fan of 80's music in general. My orchids don't seem to mind. haha... Thanks for watching the video.
So, the best period to repot a phalenopsis is after the flowering I suppose... I have a problem though... my p. has stopped the flowering but has already the new small (very small, I can barely see them) flowers.. should I proceed with the repotting or not?
If it smells like it is rotting, it probably is or perhaps the medium is rotting. Best repot. Visit the forum and post your question there along with a photo of the roots of this phal and let the members take a look. We can give you advice suited to your orchid. I hope all is okay with your phal. Good luck!
Hi Dawn, I do not recommend the plastic bag on a healthy phal. Instead, try a pebble tray with water. Also, remember that if you group your plants close together, they will retain more humidity naturally. Good luck and please visit the forum for more care advice. :) Cheers, Bruce
HEllo , I have two Phalaenopsis orchids ,one small blooms and one that has medium blooms . I just repotted both plants and I read somewhere to put a plastic bag over the plants loosely to help with humidity . My questions is if true ,how long do i leave it on for .? thanks dawn m.
I have an Orchid with 12 blooms on her and she has actually bloomed four of those since she's been living with me : ) I was wondering if I wanted to repot her in a HUGE pot would that be ok?? I live in an apartment and I don't want to have to repot a lot I'd like to repot once and be done. Also, I wanted to repot soon because the pot she's in didn't come with a drain hole at the bottom so I have to be careful of the water I give her. Any tips would be welcomed thanks so much : )
I just saw your message. No, please do not over pot your orchid. It will cause too much water to stay around the roots and your orchid roots will rot. Orchids need air in and around their roots. Good luck.
Thanks, DivineRanger! We grow in a greenhouse, so the humidity is pretty high most of the time. I think that is the trick to healthy air roots. I appreciate the kind remarks. Hope you have better luck in the future with your air roots. :) Cheers, Bruce
Thank you for showing such a great video for repotting my phals!! I live in SW FL and sphagnum moss is nasty stuff in this humidity. Do you ever repot a new orchid that is in bloom if it's packed in sphag, or do you wait until the blooms are done on the spike?
Thanks for you kind comment. I have repotted phals both in bloom and in bud. The trick is to not disturb the roots too much. I think it is healthier for the plant than to leave it sitting in sphag. Good luck with yours! cheers, Bruce
It is not available in stores. We make it ourselves in our greenhouse. Contact us through the OrchidTalk forum if you would like to buy some. There is a contact us link on the bottom of every page. We can only ship within the United States. Cheers, Bruce

What do you do if you over water your Orchid and the roots smell like they started to rot, but the plant still looks healthy?

Do you think if I put my orchids in my bathroom, they will be better off?
I am just worried they will be too wet and rot
