  • Are you able to use clear cast resin in this kind of mold?

  • @MukuCharms Yes you are able to use most resins with this mold material because it is silicone. Depending on the resin you may or may not need to use mold release with silicone.

  • @NoadiArt Thank you for such a fast response ^^ and that's Great!

  • Even when living with my parents I always found some place to leave a curing mold for 24 hours... even OVER the tallest furnitures! :D

The worst of it is how it stains everything and the smell... but with some practice you can achieve wonderful pieces :)

    IA CTHULHU FTANG!

  • I have carpet, that's the real fear. I don't even want to imagine trying to get rubber out of carpet. The fumes are another problem with the small space I have, don't want to poison me and the pets. I'd love to do more resin casting but the types without hazardous fumes are pricey to say the least. I'm going to be doing another video shortly using some resin and it cost $25 for 8 oz because it's nontoxic.

  • Looking at previous video it seems that you applied the silicone in a too brute way :) Probably that's why you found some gaps... Try doing a slower application of the rubber over the piece from one side to another, and push harder...

Anyway... putty seems ok for such project but... you probably may want to use non-putty silicone rubber, maybe more dirty to use but you'll get PERFECT results :) And depending on what silicone you use you can cast it in white metal, pewter, plaster or else.

  • I've tried the liquid rubbers before and I cannot describe how much I hate using them. I just don't have a space where I can use them without being terrified of ruining my floor. Casting metal is absolutely out, can't do that in my living room.
