  • what the hell is HHO

  • what would the overhead display be called? mine went out and need to get a new one

  • Just FYI, your truck does not weigh 9K LBS unless you have a 1-ton load on the back. I know for a fact that an F-350 longbed 4x4 dually weighs in at about 7,100 LBS dry. 9,000 is the GVWR, or maximum your truck is allowed to weigh fully loaded. Not trying to be a dick or anything but this is a very common misconception. If it were that heavy, your actual GVWR would be around 11K which would change the weight class and your insurance would be about double what it is now.

  • @AlabamaCrackerHonkey Hi: One day when the truck was still new I checked the weight at the scrap yard when I weighed in (to buy) that day I had my two dogs, a 100lb tool box, a full tank of fuel and the normal stuff I carry with me and I weighed in at 9250lbs. I just looked in my glove box and I had a recent receipt from the scrap yard and I weighed in at 8920lbs that was without the dogs or the tool box. The GVWR on the door column says 11,500lbs. I buy a 20,000lbs GVW w/trailer tag.

  • @mars1952 Hi, I have a PDF here emailed to me from Ford that's giving me conflicting information, but I won't argue with a weight slip. My WC 53 weighs about 7,500lbs but than again, it's all steel. I just Googled some sites and see that your GVW is indeed 11,500, but all state curb weights between 6 and 7.5K lbs for the 7.3L Superduty. Again, I trust scales more than the net but I've weighed several trucks and have often been surprised at how light they were. Thanks for the reply, Tom.

  • @AlabamaCrackerHonkey My F-250 (2002) that is 2WD, crew cab, 6 3/4' bed and just under 1/4 tank of diesel was 7000 pounds with out me in it, on a certified scale of course.

  • wow that is low mpg my 2003 5.9 gets 26 mpg stock

  • upgrade ur alternator to a high amp PMA, use more cells with the added power, make ur cells zero edge or holes, use a AFC to retune yout truck better than a efie. i bet you can get 20mpg from 100 amps

  • @richardlyew Hi: Since this video was made I have upgraded to dual alternators that put out a combined 385 Amps. AFC and efie do not apply to this engine since it has no way to control air flow. The engine can suck as much air as it wants. I have added a larger intake and exhaust to increase the air flow and I am working on improving the turbo boost. I am also working on a very large HHO brick using the Mars gasket. Hopefully it will be very efficient.

  • @mars1952 its hard to get big increases out of diesel vehicles that's why i always stick to AFC compatible vehicles where i have full control

  • Where do you live? $4.25/gallon for diesel? Its like $3.40 here!

  • @VivaLaBamEpisodes Hi: This video was uploaded August 20, 2008. I live in North Carolina and the last fuel I bought was about $3.30 per gal.

  • @VivaLaBamEpisodes over here in the UK fuel prices are $8.82 per US gallon.

    £1.32 per liter / $2.11 per liter

  • @ExtraSilver Hi: "$8.82 per US gallon" Ouch!

Almost the entire fuel price difference between the USA and Europe is taxes. I can't decide what is worse giving money to blood sucking Big Oil or giving money to our blood sucking governments.

  • Honesty is always appreciated buddy. Great job.

  • The VMU also has temp. control and speed control meaning the faster you go the more amp in put to the cell.

  • hows your water lookin using NAOH? Any brown crud? when was the last time you checked the cell itself for build up of brown stuff?

  • The water is very clear. I have a 3/8 automotive inline fuel filter in the circulation loop but it is still clean. I have not changed my electrolyte yet and I am using the same stuff that was in it on the test bench. According to D3 or maybe it was smart scarecrow the trick to having clean electrolyte is to keep the plate to plate voltage to less than 3v or so. When you go over 3 volts the iron gets stripped out of the stainless and make the water brown (and deteriorates the metal.

  • Thanks for the compliment. I think I might be able to get more MPGs out of HHO. But I just put in a diesel performance chip that increased my MPGs more than the HHO did. I will post a video soon.I really wish some one would write a chip program for increased MPG that incorporates HHO.

  • mars1952, I want to thank you for going to all this trouble of testing on a 7.3TD. You are the only one I have come across with real data on the 7.3L. You may not think 18% is very good and I concur that it is way lower than all the "hype", but for me, I could save about $3200.00 in fuel cost this year alone. I drive a 2002 E350 Power Stroke on average 75K miles a year. Again Thanks for being the one to convince me into building one.

  • Cool! Do you think HHO is worth the work? and do you have a video of your HHO cell? Thanks!

  • Worth the work? For me yes since I like to build things and like to know how things work. Is it worth the money I can't say for sure. You could by a ready made system for what I have spent not including my labor. I have spent at least 250 hours on HHO so far with no end in sight. I will need to get my overall fuel MPG increased to +20% to have any hope of recovering my investment. Right now I get +2% when loaded heavy and +18% when I drive like a grandma and cruise at 55 mph.

  • Yeah, I've noticed the prime speed for best MPG is about 55. I have done some expieramenting with hydrogen, but am not near as far as you are. Best of luck to you!

  • I looked it up. The VMU seems to be a brilliantly programed device and looks cool. However, I don't think that it would help me unless it comes in diesel version.

I don't use a PWM because they consume watts, I want all the watts to go to HHO. My diesel does not have an O2 or MAF sensor. In my opinion MAP sensor mods are not up to the job of controlling the MAP signal so that you get the correct amount of leaning through out the RPM range.

  • search= hhoforeverdotcom and the video is VMU... Let me know what you think this will help with everything trust me. PWM,O2,MAP,MAF, and temp if you want to run more amps.

  • you need a VMU!!!!!

  • I give up what is a VMU?

  • HHO VMU Vehicle Management Unit x (Alexis) Hydroxy Boosters

  • All hydrocarbon fuel makes water, actually a perfect burn would give only h2o and co2, but we don't get perfect burns. Get test, and testing methods. I will be watching for more.

  • Mars, I really appreciate your work! By the way, on this test, you can see that you got price/gallons mixed up. You had actually used 4.595 gallons for a mileage of 11.58mpg and an increase over last trip of just 1.9%. I would tend to agree that you need more HHO. Maybe you need another generator in parallel?

  • Thanks for pointing that out. I have corrected the annotations. I will have to repeat this MPG test. Actually I need to repeat all my base line tests since I am repairing some fuel robbing mechanical problems on my truck. Mainly I am replacing the leaky inter-cooler hoses.

    Dyslexia strikes again!

    Marshall

  • My compliment for the honestly test. It mean that often in Internet, too many people are telling prodigious performances on its hho job.

  • Do you think you can add a second cell or will that pull too many amps for the alternator to handle?

I have a similar truck and just now making my first cell experiment on the bench, no where close to in the vehicle yet. After seeing your results I know I gotta get much bigger to be effective.

I'm anxious too see what your long trip results are. Thanks for the comprehensive reports.

  • If I upgrade the alternator to 225 amps I could go as high as 150A (that could yield as much as 10 Ltrs/Min). I have a 135A alternator now and I think that 60A is as high as I can go. The problem is getting a cell to pull 60 amps all the time.

  • Mine will pull 60A when it is @55C but when I first start out it only pulls 40 amps. On my last MPG test the amps started at 40A and only rose to 54A in the last half of the 40 min run. Less amps = less HHO = less MPG. I plan on building a huge cell that will pull 60A when it is cold and then I will cool it to prevent it from pulling too many amps.

  • Mars, Cool video,

Two questions, are you still running the 4 neutral setup?

Second, have you looked into the dual alternator setup they have for that engine (ambulance setup)? With that you could possibly run a larger cell with high voltage from an inverter-rectifier setup or push the high amps.

Personally I think rather than run down the road over 60 amps I'd prefer to go high-voltage low amps and run a 45 plate brick. I'm still waiting on plates I ordered a few weeks back to try this

  • Yes 4 neutral,4 plus,3 neg.

I think that a high output 32 volt dedicated second alternator is the way to go. Higher voltage means smaller and fewer wires and better plate to plate voltage control.

I want to stay away from inverters, rectifiers, and PMWs because they consume watts and turn them into heat. I want to keep as many watts for the HHO as I can.

    Marshall

  • Makes sense,

If I had the Hemi they have a dual alternator kit for my dodge, but I have the 4.7 magnum so I'm stuck unless I have alternator built or custom fab brackets.

    I'm rooting for you.

  • Thanks to you for the info. People are now figuring out how to remove the 'O' from HHO. This will produce a 'no water' exhaust which damages gas designed engines. Success is measured in inches, and you sir are one of thoes inches, I honor you.

  • not too argue but burning hydrocarbon fuel somewhat efficiently yeilds water vapor. all cars from about 85 on do this. ever noticed the steam on cold days? The little amount of water from hho isnt hurting us. Water in large volumes will definatly hurt the engine.I agree on the inches comment. Mars keep up the good work.

  • 10% is still 0.43 a gallon. better than apoke in the eye. Awesome 5 stars
