first time i saw afi was my second warped tour, right around the time they released Art of Drowning. I had no idea what to expect having not ever really listened to them. They opened with this song, the crowd was getting crazy pumped up chanting, I feared for my life. Then they went right into Porphyria and all hell broke loose. Sad to say I don't think I'll ever see anything like that again
Wow! I like this. It's interesting, though, that the intro seems like a sped-up version of its successor, "Miseria Cantare," down all the way to the lyrics. :D And, both of those songs have incredible drums.
@TheEric1203 Honestly I can't remember. I watched a video interview type thing adn I think I recall him saying during Sing The sorrow. Don't take my word for it, ask it cha cha it or somehting. I can't remeber though! Sorry!
@NinjaZombieTV thats ok, thanks. I didn't know vocal nodules had like a permanent effect. But, I'm fairly new to the band and they're going to be opening for a concert im going to next month, so I'm trying to learn some things about them. thanks
When I saw AFI back in early 2003, they opened with this. From what I remember, it wasn't planned. The whole crowd started screaming "Through our bleeding, we are one!" once the roadies finished setting up the stage. The chant went on for almost 5 minutes before they jumped right into it.
thats awesome. i saw them yesterday, and let me tell you, davey may be singing differently but theyre still as good as they were all those years ago. People shouted one more song after they finished and they played for like, a whole hour in addition to what they had planned, and they played some of the B-sides so it was an amazing show,
That's amazing. I've been to a ton of shows, and (sadly) it's rare for them to get up and do an encore. Usually when they do, it's one song and that's it. But for a band to play an entire hour? That's dedication. Playing on stage is not easy. Not to mention, the employees at the venue are PISSED at having to work late. AFI just gained so much respect from me because of your story.
They played, "Ever and a Day" from AOD...maybe 3 Crash Love songs and the rest from STS and DU when i saw them 3-12-10.. They didn't play God Called in Sick Today or Days of the Phoenix :( But they still put on a great show! ::D

@radiobath Sir...that must have been awesome. I saw them once at Warped tour 2001 and it was a great show. Seeing that made me realize that this was not just another band! ok
yes this and AOD are the best i really cant pick one they have two completely different sounds, i also like all hallows ep its like a blend between the 2
The DF message board was recently discussing wether thins song, Miseria Cantare, or Keeping Out of Direct Sunlight should be the intro for AFI's future shows.
I love the drums in this song, especially the opening, i've been trying to work it into Guitar hero world tour's song customizer but since i know nothing about actually playing drums its kind of tough. i got the opening almost perfect, but i have some trouble towards the middle

No, it's perfect as it is. It's one of AFI's classic intro songs (which were at least in five albums).

@EpsilonX probably this, the initiation, keeping out of direct sunlight, miseria cantare and prelude
