I've heard about this show for years, but being American I've never had a chance to see it before. Is there a reason you don't have the first episode on here? I would've preferred to start at the beginning. And what about the earlier series, 'Yes, Minister'? I've only been able to find short clips on Youtube.
Anyway, thank you for putting this on here. It's still a thrill to see any episode finally.
Sir Humphrey: "He has his own car, a nice house in London, place in the countryside, endless publicity, and a pension for life. What more does he want?"
that's lot of thing people want you to do, and alot of things you should do, and there's a number of thing you can do, but there's very few things you have to do
I'm a Yank, this is all I've ever seen of this show, and it's already in my Top 5. As a pre-Law student (and a total cynic about modern government), I think this is top-notch comedic writing, no doubt drawing heavy inspiration from George Orwell.
@loqutor The scary part is that the writers are known to have consulted heavily with people in Whitehall and it is closer to the truth than is comfortable.
Thank You! Thank you! How delightful! How timely! I was intrduced to this series by a British uncle a long time ago - saw it again through netflix in the US. Still enjoying it as much or more -
Some of you may have noticed that Satinfox's account was suspended, which contained many episodes of another British comedy, Are You Being Served. I guess it was only a matter of time, but it still really irks me! I don't doubt that this one may be next on their terror list...
@pspboy7 Ironic given that the British public have paid for the making of these programmes and should have free access to them whenever we feel like it. The BBC are bullies.
You don't suppose Humphrey is getting a very big bribe or something else from the Americans to keep pushing the Trident purchase? He seems desperate to stop the PM.
"We spent most of the time rubbishing the French!" Very droll.

This explains why Obama has a pretty hard time "changing" the States.

@ahmedeox I'd kiss the boots of the Humphrey that's blocking that cafe latte-sipper, or whatever he drinks, from wrecking the country.

Sir Humphrey: "He has his own car, a nice house in London, place in the countryside, endless publicity, and a pension for life. What more does he want?"
Bernard: "I think he wants to govern Britain."
Sir Humphrey: "Well, stop him, Bernard."
Classic.

Bribe is such an ugly word to use... perhaps more of an precontractual agreement that benefits all sides...
