  • I hear some Woody Shaw, the chords are a little bit on the edge. Interesting but the original changes with standard subs are so beautiful. This approach to the tune is a bit bombastic but the guy does know what he's doing. You know that to put it out there requires courage and I admire that.

  • heart and soul. great trumpeter...

  • Over blowin over acting really

  • a truly great trumpeter tames the instrument...there is a place for trumpetists that have to blow the shit out of a beautiful song, why? because they can.....not because it is beautiful. An ear for music, timing, feeling(which many musicians don't have) contribute to the beautiful sound that is the trumpet.

  • That over blowing style is not my cup of tea ... BUT this guy has his own sound and his own style which is a fantastic achievement. More than that plenty of it is 'out' yet sounds cool and that keeps you listening. He is great!

  • great sound and great power!!!..nice

  • Terumasa Hino played and recorded with me and Larry Coryell back in the 80s. He can swing his butt off!

  • Dizzy cannot play like this.

  • @synot100 Probably because he's dead

  • @synot100 i think he rather would not play like this.

  • i love the version.. i love the bass line..

  • the mood was created..........

  • love the sound, nice trumpet also

  • great sound~

  • I also love the genetic alteration done to Hoagies, chords, exciting new stuff, thank you.

  • Great Improv on this song!

  • it is not a trumpet, it is a cornet

  • No just a bent trumpet, sounding far too good .

  • this guy must love dizzy...

  • Hi~ Hino,

Time to write a new song !

    What about a 'baseball' ?

  • Man, what a sound

  • Terumasa is one of my favorite tpt players....

  • su boquilla esta bonita

  • Wow

  • toca muy bien

  • I really like the bass player.

the trumpet player is good, not the kind of tone I associate with cause its too brazen for me. but then again I love louis armstrong. but dynamics in his lines just rub me raw.

    great sound though!

Btw, lots of great players puff out their cheeks.

  • Yes, trumpet players are "supposed" to be taught "good technique" at a young age; however, when someone wants to get a job in the field of commercial playing, it's your sound that counts, and how exactly you produce your sound, as far as technique, doesn't really matter.

Someone could play trumpet with an embouchure that isn't centered at all, and, as long as they play with a beautiful tone accurately, they will get the job over someone else who plays with a "perfect embouchure", but doesn't

  • have as good of a tone.

  • @igh00001

Very true. Just check out how Jon Faddis plays off center and how famous he is for being able to do something that most other people can't.

  • Really liked that ending. Nicely done. Doesn't seem to have any shortage of notes in his head.

  • didnt like his tone. too much sound. it would be nice on a latin cuban jazz i guess

  • check out coltranes stardust it will blow this guy away in my opinion but he is good though

  • ok, i m moved...

  • damn intense

  • 日野さんラッパのほうがいいね。

  • i appreciate this video. i still prefer wynton's version... but i still appreciate what this guy does.

  • Good

  • stardust has such a strong melody, that just didnt do it for me. very intresting approches however.

  • Nice tone. Like the similiarities of dizzy ( the master).
