  • Yeah, I agree, its totally the victims fault, how dare he feel intimidated and not run away. great video low tech, I will give you a Bplus, keep up the great work

  • All good comments. Thanks so much for the feedback and insights. Good stuff.

  • Something else strange in this video... The victim is dressed for cool weather... the meth-freak is shirtless.... That'd make me wonder...

  • Recently a MUCH larger intoxicated guy shouldered me...in a dark alley (I know right?), then he turned with a twinkle in his eye that indicated I should have just gotten out of there. I happened to be wearing some tactical clothing, and a reflective safety vest (dressed in ECWS Gore-Tex bdu's for winter cycling)... For some reason I found myself standing straight, walking forward making confident eye contact...asking him "Sir could I see some identification?"... And he actually gave up and left.

  • I don't remember where exactly I read it, but the phrase "Staying in Yellow" comes to my mind when I watched this. Being in a heightened state "Red," really does you no good (tense + agitated = noticeable), but that sort of relaxed "Green" state of mind will always paint you as an easier victim given the opportunity. A subtle scan of your surroundings, an upright posture, and a fixed expression can cue a would be attacker that you aren't easy prey. A swift kick in the groin if that fails.

  • awareness and vigilance can mean you being a victim or the perp moving on to the next target. too many warning signs and people just plain not paying attention to their surroundings and potential threats. It's easy to armchair quarterback but I would have not put myself in situation, or being there, show that you are not going to be an easy target and be prepared to defend, including extricating yourself. good stuff.

  • hey friend lol, nice video very educating. its funny , people that just watched that video whether they can fight or not just got a little smarter by doing nothing except watching & having an open mind to learn something new . beats the hell outa a 2 hour TMA training session. could he really have kicked the punk in the face ?

  • good analysis. this one could have been avoided, notice not defend - better to avoid than to have to make a stand. another common street tactic, ask you for time and you get whopped while you're looking at your watch.

  • HMMM easy to say but alot of the times people can just attack without even know one noticing. All cases different.

  • @tombslasher Hmm, same can be said for you. Lone criminals don't go after hard targets if they want to live to the next mark. Just a LITTLE awareness and this guy could have prevented the attack altogether. Small skinny criminal v. large broad shouldered man who may or may not be carrying. If the guy would have remained standing, been assertive and not allowed the other guy near there is no way he would have been able to successfully attack this man.

  • Thanks for all the feedback everyone! Very much appreciated.

Thank you for posting this. Awareness, awareness, awareness. We should all listen to that gut feeling(our caveman instinct which has protected us from extinction) warning us of possible threats. We let our egos and desire not to offend others stop us from doing the right thing. Awareness, evasion and escape.

  • Great video, it always pays to read the room.

  • Also, the victim is dressed in a coat and hat, which would suggest its winter. The attacker has nothing on his top half. Another sign that your dealing with a fruit cake, and the last thing you want to be doing is sitting down.

  • Poor fella. Have to say though, even a child would have seen that coming.

  • Thank you - great stuff.

  • Great analysis. I think this is a very useful format you've developed.

  • good one deano!

  • Good advice :)
