  • Do not use tap water unless you boil it first. There are bacteria, including a very deadly brain damaging bacteria, that can be in your tap water. Drinking water contaminated with this bacteria will not harm you, buy if you irrigate with it, it can be fatal.

  • thanks for the tips. i have a squeeze bottle myself and was looking for the right mixture to blend so i wouldnt have to buy pre-made solutions. this has been great. very comfortable mix.

  • CAN ANYBODY TELL ME IF THIS STUFF HURTS!?!?!?!

  • @brownboy671 i dont think it hurts but it can be a lil uncomfortable. on a scale of 0-10 (like when doctors ask your pain levels) 10 being extreme pain, i would say it is a 1 to reflect a little discomfort. if you've ever been swimming and get some water up your nose it kind of tingles. the saline solution helps to lessen the tingle and the first few times you do it might be awkward but you get better at it. the discomfort became relief for me as I can felt better afterwards.

  • Just think about this for a minute. If you have allergens in your nasal passages that cause allergies, don't you think washing the allergens out will help better than taking meds? If you nose is all plugged up with thick mucus don't you think moistening and washing it out of your sinuses would be more help than nasal sprays that only shrink nasal passages and dry the mucus up even more? Learn to use a nasal rinse and save yourself lots of suffering.

  • Omg, i will totally try this. After a terrible cold I had last year the sinus problem never went away and now it's a chronic issue that has left me using a nasal spray before going to bed, otherwise I can't sleep. I hope this will help get rid of the nasal spray.

  • @suicidalrockstate Good luck to you. I stopped using any nasal spray years ago when I started using the nasal rinse.

  • very useful and effective tips...

  • thanks for the tips! will try this!

  • Table/sea salt and commercially sourced baking soda should not be used.

A few different reasons for this. For one, they can contain impurities like Algae, anti-caking agents, iodide, etc..

    They are neither pharmaceutical grade.

There is also the issue of solution strength.

Best to use solution packets intended for this purpose from a reputable source. I use the Neilmed brand with excellent results.

Also, distilled water is the best water source.

  • The Water Dosnt Come From my Other Astro..? Cuz it Plugged ..?

  • I have like a stuffy nose, it's hard for me to breath good. Will this clean and open my nose poors?

  • Dr. Pynnon looks part asian and thats hot! If she is single I want to marry her! :-)

  • After drinking 6 beers use 3 squirts of Afrin in each nostril. Perfect cure.

  • Thanks for posting! I've been trying this every morning for a few days now. It does make me feel a bit less congested, but it doesn't seem to eliminate the congestion completely. Perhaps I just need to start doing it more than once a day, or use more saline at a time.

  • @cicero1453 Do it several times a day when you first start if you have lots of congestion and pressure. It has to be able to loosen up what is in there and get it all out. After that just use as needed.

  • No get this off Youtube all the drug doctors and pharmacy's will not make money there's no such thing as Natural Cures!!!!!!

  • who knows lol

  • what is the name of the song on 0:01 0:00?

  • Dear Good looking MD. I am also an MD from Glendale CA. I would like to take you out on a date

    From Dr. Johnny S. B.

  • Excellent video and smart sexy doctor :D

  • i did the nasal rinse today and now my whole head is stuffy and my ears are too. what with that?

  • Very professional and helpful. Good job U of M.

  • Don't use table salt at all, it contains iodine. Use sea slat instead.

  • i have this neilmed thing at home, it doesnt really work for me

  • Wow i love half asian girls i think shes hot!

  • I have post nasal drip and I just cleaned my nose out with lukewarm water and a tablespoon of kosher salt.

PLEASE TRY IT. It works really well and now I have to scratchy throat! :)

  • good info. thanks for posting. i catch colds frequently, maybe this will help.

  • Thank u for this video. I just tried this and it works worders. Saying The K sound came on handy. This is my first wind f allergies at 35 and I was goin crazy feeling woozy and cloudy. I feel 50% better. How manytimes a day do u recommend? Once?

    Rachelle

  • I was really, really skeptical of this (I was comparing it to magnet therapy) until I read some of the medical journals on it and finally tried it for myself. I have really bad allergies and figured it was worth a try.

It worked very well. I didn't notice a difference the first day as much (I was stuffed up when I first tried it), but after that first week I noticed I wasn't even sniffling anymore.

I'm sold on it. Try it! It costs one squeeze bottle, water, and salt. Not much to lose.

  • it would work better if you squirt it in your butt

  • this didnt help didn't help at all:(

  • @1a2g4 thats because it does not help. the salt things dont work. only afrin works. afrin will helpit for a few hours

  • Agree. One side benefit that seems to have happened and I hope they do a study on is after about a week there is also a very noticeable drop in my blood pressure. I'll speculate it's from not "sniffling and snorting" mucus all the time throwing my breathing rhythm off. A month of doing it I'm down to using it just once a day most of the time and even skipping a day here and there without any noticeable effect. If there are any doctors reading this, I'd appreciate your comments on the BP.

  • totally agree. Excellent video

  • my sister tried it and it really worked... thanks....

  • I used A Water Bottle and, kosher Salt and Baking Soda. And it work.,did it about a hour age and my nose is till clear.

  • I find tilting your head forward and rolling your head side to side releases most of the trapped solution. I use the NeilMed squeeze bottle most of the time and for a good irrigation a 60ml syringe. One teaspoon of sea salt or pickling salt to one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda works well, no burning.

  • i was precribed a nasal spray, it had lots of chemicals and stuff in it and it made my blocked nose worse, could i empty the contents of the spray and add salted water into it and spray?

  • lol no wonder mine coming out from my mouth, hmm let me try the k sound. great med school. is it hard to get in to this university?

  • u won't get it, continue to suffer through clogged noses.

  • Hi there I have a question since you look in touch with docs, When I use irrigation, I blow my nose and all the water after. But 1 hour or more later, if I lace my shoes for instance some water will get out and it's pretty strange... Is it my sinus that keeps it and let it go after 1+ hour ?

  • Yes, it is completely normal. You will experince less water hold with a neti pot.

  • I had the same problem, the water gets trapped up in the sinuses above your eyes. after irragation, wait about 5 minutes then bend over the toilet, and gently blow your nose. the trapped water should come out.

  • thanks

  • is it okay to use normal salt instead of kosher if you don't have any around? and is there any difference in using normal salt?

  • Kosher salt is recommended because it contains no additives. If table salt is used, a smaller amount is necessary to achieve the same salt concentration. 1 tsp of Kosher salt = 3/4 tsp table salt.

  • @Zdravevski2000

The difference is you have to pay a kosher tax on the kosher salt.

  • I sent your question to Dr. Pynnonen and she said it's perfectly fine to blow your nose after nasal irrigation.

  • can u answer me.. right after i use the bottle sinus rinse do i blow my nose after?
