  • To the people saying this cover is awful: Yes, it is awful. But they never aimed to make it prefect to the original did they? The whole reason this is so good is because it's so bad!

Nice to see Peter joining in on the singing haha

  • i think this is a wonderful performance

  • This performances sucks to high heaven by the lead singer

  • Michaels got some moves!

  • watch Michael Stipe in this video. This is what happens 2 your body on crack.

  • And this is what happens when you inhale too much cocaine...

  • What in Hell was the harmonica doing in there?

  • Yeah!!!

can I have the same drink as Michael, please???

  • Listen carefully and you hear a bit of 'wolves,Lower' from Chronic Town and the not yet released (at that time) 'hyena', blended in. And I doubt he was actually drunk - that's the performance.

  • @fasfadsfsd I hope he was drunk. Then at least he has some excuse for desecrating the original song.

  • So punk!!!

  • i just have to express how much i love michael faking an English accent!

Being stone drunk and not remebering the lyrics just adds to the experience :P

  • sounds like Stipe says FINE at the very end. Strange....like at the very end of "It's the End of the World..." some two years later! Hmmmmmmm.....

  • ...great cover. Michael reminds me a bit of David Byrne in this one. haha.

  • cant see why peter is using the 340 on the entire show... anybody know?

  • @remnrone Cause he loved it and it was still new. You know, like a new toy.

  • @YofterMofter yeah i guess i was just to used to seeing him with the 360 :)

  • Of course it's surprisingly good.

    This is R.E.M.!!!!!!

  • Hmmm. This is surprising good....

  • LOOOOL!

    Awesome! :D

  • well, indeed young Mr. Stipe looks as after usage of some refreshments, but it had to be really fun show. ..On the DVD is "Can´t get there from here" and it was sang very lively, but still it was probably from more acceptable part of evening :-). Amazing singer by the way.

  • Paint it black has been a fav since I was a child. And to hear them sing it.........wow

  • same ever since i first played twisted metal black

  • jesus christ superstar, that guy sounds drunk!

or maybe he is a zombie, it all sounds like moaning....

vanessa carlton did a better cover on it

  • you're right he dose look drunk, and look at him dance. but i don't agree about the vanessa crap

  • Liberal! And Michael Stipe is bi. He's in a homosexual relationship though.

  • why? How is this related to the music?

  • hm. How's that coming from the video? Is there anything like that in the lyrics or behaviour? Can't find it. Maybe I'm a homosexual or liberal?? OH MY GOD!

  • hm. its not going good for the republicans these days... sorry for ya

  • I am pretty sure its not going good for anyone these days. The whole world is fucked. So you are right, no goin good for republicans, but also for democrats.

  • It is the best concert I have ever seen! I already complained by rockpalast, which organized the concert, about not releasing a dvd with this stuff. For our luck we have remchout!

  • Nice band! I will try to hire them for my friends wedding! :-D

  • wow? is this ur first time hearing REM or something?

  • yeah, i mean, these are the guys that did "its the end of the worls as we know it"

  • That isn't even their best song. Go listen to some real R.E.M. before you judge them, or just return to your mainstream crap and leave them alone.

  • damn, it would be great to play in a band

  • Good cover, but he should try to actually sing all the lyrics, its kind of hard to understand him. But otherwise good.

  • This doesn't sound like REM!

  • lukewarm crowd...

  • it's a good cover, I like the fact that REM doesnt depend on covers to make success, and this remains in the underground, they did just for fun and admiration to the stones

  • I agree. They did covers of songs they really liked, both because they genereally liked the songs, and to add a bit of variety to their shows; the fact that most of these covers never appeared on any of their albums -- I think their version of "King of the Road" was the only cover to actually make it onto an album, wasn't it? -- attests to this.

  • King of the Road was on Dead Letter Office with a couple other covers, like There She Goes Again.

  • Wow this is great I never knew they covered this. Wow Michael Stipe looked pretty good with hair ^.^

  • wow,this sounds awsome!

  • great to see that rockpalast gig again.

  • that's why he can sing it good

  • this was completely hilarious and enjoyable...i think stipe is trying to sound all Satanic in the first part, and then when they come back after the false ending he sings more in his normal voice, complete with the Southern accent...but he's definitely wasted and it's just cute as hell to watch...i think this is only the second time I've seen Peter sorta sing a little...

  • I love the way Michael dances.....

I Love R.E.M....This cover is great!!!!

    Thanks for sharing it

  • wow this song gives little small up and coming bands a glimer of hope !

if REM can make it, anyone can

  • Yeah, Stipe is totally out of sorts during this song, but who gives a rip. Coversongs are to played for fun. The band clearly is taking a "casual" approach to this Stones classic. Awesome.....

  • LOL awesome. It's like a fucking joke! Love them though.

  • cool cover!! and is it me but stipe looks very wasted!!

  • this the rem that i remember with affection

  • THAT IS CLEARLY A HARMONICA IN THE KEY OF C... they are playing a song in the Key of Em/G ... that was a little abrasive

  • man YOU are a trainwreck.

  • Beauty in imperfection, dont you guys understand the flipside of sound ???

  • That harmonica solo made me fall out of my seat

  • Stipes had a few shandies

  • stipe looks like a young elvis. so cute

  • legend

  • This might be the best video on youtube :D

  • Michael Stipe has charmed me with this version of song. Such a free soul. Love that.

  • Thanks for it!!!

Michael must have been really drunk!

  • Oh yeah! I agree! :-)

  • Love the false ending. What a concert.

  • you remchout, are perhaps the single greatest thing that happened to youtube

  • I'll second that.

  • totally agree

  • REM when they really were edgy and great....

  • this one's great! it's a song that's not by r.e.m. too so it's harder to find! thanks for postin it!

  • Diese sind wundervoll!

  • I wish the band could see this !!!

Where did you find these? Or did you film it?

Man, Michael sounds soooooo drunk !

These Vidros have been a treat !

    thanks !
