  • @inathinglass Maybe you can answer this to a person from the colonies: why would anyone get pissed off by ordering their bitters in a thin glass?

  • @gahrzahk Traditionally bitter was served in jugs, more especially in the north. Carter had spent many years in London where beer was served "in a thin glass".

  • @inathinglass I never knew that! I was in Berwick-upon-Tweed a long while ago and enjoyed learning the cultural nuances of Northern/Southern English animosities and Scottish/English animosities. I had a great time and learned a lot, because I had no money, did a workers holiday and lived in cold water flats.
