have heard this song sung by numerous singers of different generations. This has to be the best of them all. Thank you ,Miss Lee! Your Chinese pronnciation is so clear and sweet!
A fantastic singer from the past. The favorite of my grandparents and parents and now mine.
I understand she is still living in Japan probably in her late 80s. I was wondering why hasn't the entertainment circles in Taiwan or HK conduct an interview or
award her for contribution to Chinese music before she passes on?
1349793, I m also wondering why annual musical award shows in Taiwan and HK never once pays tribute to her. It is not just her but also the other great divas of the 30s/40s like Zhouxuan, Bai Kwang, Wu Yin Yin. It is such a shame they were never acknowledged by these annual award shows when they were really the avant-garde pioneers of chinese pop music and remain unsurpassed by any till this day. Hopefully, the industry big guns take note of this omission and do something about it.
In fact, she was a spy for Japanese Army during Japan occupied China in WW2. Chinese dont be so fool to thrust her. She was a wolf with sheep skin ! After the WW2, she became a member of Jap Parliment.
This is a really lovely song sung by one of the most talented singers in the 30s 40s. I really like the illustrations which matches the lyrics so well. I hope there are more of them.
Carol King, thanks for posting and video arrangement. It warms my heart and memories, making me rekindle my good old days once more. The world has been so beautiful and it is full of variety of sweeties and antisweeties. Every thing is relative and someday you will miss what you are having just like the way you have -missing the past:)
This song is really beautiful and brings back a lot of heart felt memories which are sweeter and more vivid and logical than those in my dreams. There are gold in books so are memories.
What a marvellous posting. I love the way you used traditional (proper) Chinese characters. Did you use your collection of Lee Hsiang Lan in "The Legendary Chinese Hits" from Pathe (1992)?
What a pure and gorgeous voice. Nobody sings this song better than she did. Is she still alive? Does she still make any public appearances? Thank you for posting this.
I recently saw the movie "No One Knows about Persian Cats." Loved it so much that I got the CD. I have the same feeling. What can I say? It's the magic of the world of music!
beautiful...........

李香兰,唱这首歌的时候,是37岁;
经历了,战后的重建;

Stanley,
My compliments and thanks for the memorable and beautiful songs you post at YouTube.
I am looking for one song we used to hear in Holland in the 1960's : 小木马, litlle wooden horse.
I can find this song as a children's song, but I remember it beautifully sung by a female singer and a men choir.
Hopefully you have this song in your collection to share it at YouTube. If so, please let me know.
Thanks, Thomas.

She was born in China and lived in China during her childhood. It was not doubt that she talked both Chinese and Japanese as her native language.
