Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Secret Of Mana. It’s up on my channel ORTmusic to check out and download!
@avidgames91091 Just because some games are more action and visual oriented and more mainstream doesn't make them crap. You can like the classics and enjoy newer games too.
Unless your an eletist snob or something. And you're not one of those, right?
@saintsinna of course not, i'm just seeing that games are just lacking originality now unlike in the 80's, 90's and early 00's. there are some good new games out there.
@avidgames91091 Well, that's because in the past where games weren't more mainstream less money went into making them meaning that less return had to be made on an investment. Shameless cash grabs are a bit necessary since it takes so much to make a game nowadays. Just look at the ending credits of an old game and a new one. New ones go on forever, and all of those people needed to be paid. Plus thinking up something completely innovative isn't easy, most things have been done already.
Secret of Mana will always hafta battle chrono trigger and ff3 for SNES supremacy but moving around during combat was definitely unique for RPGs at the time
I know a lot of people will probably dislike me for this, but I think this is kind of a crappy boss battle theme. Too repetitive and a little gay (especially the begining).
@shark235235 i've played lots of games thank you, been playing games since super mario bros. on the original nintendo. all the way up to the ps2/gamecube/xbox consoles. and while all the games i've played have had awesome soundtracks ex: final fantasy 6, chrono trigger, and link to the past. to name a few, but i've always found this to be the best normal boss music. though ff6's boss fight music is a very close second, how many games have you played and finished? i'd say i've beaten 100 at least
when i first played this game and this music started playing, i knew i was fucked, i then turned off the game and hid in my closet in fear of the monster and its dreadful music, then i shit myself. i love secret of mana.
@jakethecruel Haha not bad at all.. although I am glad to see you are fan of Secret of Mana... I never QUITE beat it in terms of crushing the mana dragon.. but I was a big fan of Thanatos.. Come to think of it I feel like Beating this game again, Secret of Mana 2 (english translated), and Secret of Evermore!! I can't think of anymore similar games except Terranigma or something like that lol.
Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and a bunch of associations with Nintendo make Square/Square Enix the best RPG makers and best overall franchises ever.
The first couple of times I heard this song I'd freak out xD When you're a 7 or 8 year old like I was, this music did NOT help the stress of beating a boss.
I could really use my little piss ant friend's help right now, instead of him cryin' in a corner. Shoulda ran him through with the sword after i beat the mantis
My personal favorite tactic against bosses was to spam the spells they were weak against. even at early levels, you could deal a massive amount of damage to bosses by Spell Stacking (this game is SO full of glitches yo. like for example you can revive someone with cure water if u cast it on them a second b4 they die.). Spell Stack on a boss enough times and it's hello 999 damage >:)
Spell Stacking is when you keep hitting a boss with spells b4 the previous spell's damage is deducted from the HP
i hated the fact that you could get damaged twice before standing up on your feet again, especialy when it then said "(name) sees the reaper".. AAAHH! D:
but it's a track that can get you pumped up in the battle
@ Aeryos: it definitely was the hardest boss fight, because you didn't have any magic skills at that time....once you had, you just needed to smash the Y (or X-Button) in order to get into the menu again as quick as possible, pick a spell with no urgency and then let the mana beasts decide the thing for you ;)
I loved this song when I played this...and yeah the song is kinda off on here, its all in the left ear of my headset. 1:14 onward makes it definitely different than it was in the beginning xD
My fav bit of the song has to be from 1:14 onward. Then when 1:36 kicked in I always got the feeling that the fight might be over, until 1:46 started and the rush began all over again until the boss actually WAS dead. =P
best game/rpg ever, I always played that game with my bro', and as a kid, even if the bosses were easy, this music frightened me like hell, I was like "omfg we're screwed, this is the end !" :D
Are there more people who would like the drums-tab ? It might be an idea to write it out (or just play this), but I'll only do it with some help. I love this as well, loads of adrenaline!
This has always been a childhood favourite of mine. Over ten years ago I was scouring the internet trying to find even just a MIDI of it (because back then finding the real thing seemed out of the question). It's no worse for wear after all these years--it's still an absolutely outstanding song.
The middle of this song is kick ass but after the first few seconds it gets even better, I remember fighting bosses like the ant, spikey, and the plant guy in the under ground cave where you get the axe, and when I see the boss I'm all like *Stomps a mudhole in boss's ass and walks it dry*Sit down!
The song's called "Danger". Even if you could find it on VGMusic, it'd only be a crappy MIDI--this is the real thing (albeit low quality), so it's much better.
This fucking song still get me creep out from the start of the boss battle!

Ironicially, Secret of Mana is Anime Style. As is Final Fantasy.
I don't think any (J)Role-Playing Game game is bad because of it's art style.
