I imagine it's based on Thomas Gainsborough's prtrait of Sarah Siddons - does anyone know for sure?

LOL... it's a bit like the MGM one, but with a woman with a big hat instead of a lion!! Cheaper I guess!

@davie12 Plus I guess they figured that a pretty woman smiling at the audience would be nicer than a roaring lion.
