The problem with this kind of technology is that it only rely on a radar. If your foes are enough clever, they can launch a very huge number of piece of metals which would be all recognized by the system. As the system has too many targes to check, it will certainly miss the real rocket.

In fact you don't need to throw your decoys very close to the tank. The radar will detect it some hundreds of meters from the target. As the computer will have to verify all these overwehlming activity, I suppose that this distraction will prevent the system to be enough effecitve to make calculations for shooting the rocket. There would be too much information.

The problem with "armor" is that as soon as they create a better armor they create even better penetration systems.
The RPG-30 (which was created at the time Trophy was theorised) already acts as a counter to the Trophy system. It fires the projectile (with 600mm of penetration of reactive armor) which causes the Trophy system to react, and then in the delay the armament detaches itself leaving behind a dummy or shell and destroying the armored vehicle anyways.

The problem with this kind of technology is that it only rely on a radar. If your foes are enough clever, they can launch a very huge number of piece of metals which would be all recognized by the system. As the system has too many targes to check, it will certainly miss the real rocket.

hell, even an RPG's would require considerable range reduction in order to be effective (an RPG-30's effective range is less then half that of a standard RPG-7).

In fact you don't need to throw your decoys very close to the tank. The radar will detect it some hundreds of meters from the target. As the computer will have to verify all these overwehlming activity, I suppose that this distraction will prevent the system to be enough effecitve to make calculations for shooting the rocket. There would be too much information.

and its designed to counter not only ATGM's but also tank rounds (which travel much faster).
.
it takes the system a microsecond to determine the direction and speed of the incoming projectle, and only respond if that projectile is a threat to the tank.
.
you'll need more then chaff.
.
and a sniper wont work, since the radar panels are covered.
its not a toy.

The problem with "armor" is that as soon as they create a better armor they create even better penetration systems.
The RPG-30 (which was created at the time Trophy was theorised) already acts as a counter to the Trophy system. It fires the projectile (with 600mm of penetration of reactive armor) which causes the Trophy system to react, and then in the delay the armament detaches itself leaving behind a dummy or shell and destroying the armored vehicle anyways.
So don't get too excited.

@pinz2022 The projectile that is shot from the tank is top secret, this is what makes the Trophy able to eliminate the RPG without injuring soldiers on the ground, its made of some special material that pushes away the RPG or prevents it from exploding. I saw a program in Hebrew and they wont say what the material is made of. US Military should be getting this very soon so I guess we will find out before you know it.

The projectile isn't top secret it's already been described as being a "buck-shot" type material. Meaning it's most likely just some shrapnel that's used to remotely detonate the weapon. In cases where 3rd or 4th generation weapons are used an electic surge is used to disarm the weapon.
There's no secret here. If you're under the illusion that the tanks are any safer now you are being mislead. Tanks are a thing of the past. They have short range, low power and low mobility.

We wont adopt it though because we are in bed with Raytheon and have to wait patiently for them to supposedly create a "better" product, which in most cases would be fine if we weren't already in two conflicts and on the verge of 2-5 more. That's why in the Gaza 2008 war (where Hamas was using the same same anti-tank weapons like Hizbullah in 2006) Israel did not lose even one tank !! @AmericanSitRep False. Not a signle Qassam fired from the West Bank and yet no end to settlements, occupation, checkpoints, political prisoners and population transfer/ethnic cleansing. Israel does not want peace because it wants to continue "changing the facts on the ground." Palestinians want peace, but not without justice. The 2002 comprehensive peace offer based on the '67 borders still stands. However, Israel apparently wants it all. It's too late to withdraw the settlements.
