If the Dalai Lama loves Tibet so much, why does he do things to risk Tibetan independence? I don't think it's because he DOESN'T love Tibetans. And when I say DS is more important than Tibetan independence, I mean we're all going to die. I think the Dalai Lama has his reasons for the ban. He's so public, and therefore so publicly flouting Indian law. Why is he risking court appearances, negative publicity etc if not for something greater? If he's the face of Tibetan independence, why is he risking negative publicity for Dorje Shugden, at the risk of independence? Isn't he risking Tibetan independence by drawing away the TGIE's meager resources from the independence cause, towards promoting the suppression of Dorje Shugden?

Unfortunately he is going to leave this incarnation one day and when he does, judging from how Tibetans do not have a tradition of grooming future leaders, the TGIE may not be able to stand on its own two feet. Maybe HHDL is preparing Tibetans for the future by damaging the image they have of him as the infallible one.

If the Dalai Lama loves Tibet so much, why does he do things to risk Tibetan independence? I don't think it's because he DOESN'T love Tibetans. I think it's because he loves Tibetans so much that he is doing this, so that they stop being so independent on his image as the holy one who cannot make mistakes, and start to consider other opinions.

Actually, 'risking' is the wrong word because as enlightened as he is, the Dalai Lama knows exactly what he is doing and the outcome of what he's doing. I think the Dalai Lama has his reasons for the ban. He's so public, and therefore so publicly flouting Indian law. Why is he risking court appearances, negative publicity etc if not for something greater? If he's the face of Tibetan independence, why is he risking negative publicity for Dorje Shugden, at the risk of independence? Isn't he risking Tibetan independence by drawing away the TGIE's meager resources from the independence cause, towards promoting the suppression of Dorje Shugden?

I agree truth1888. I mean, HHDL even wrote a constitution that guarantees freedom of practice...but the ID card that Tibetans have to carry contradicts the constitution that he wrote. It also contradicts the Indian constitution...as a guest of India, Tibetans should follow Indian law.

The fact DS cannot be subdued, even from the time of the Fifth Dalai Lama, shows he just hasn't got the karma to be harmed. Someone without karma is enlightened; therefore Dorje Shugden is enlightened. I think it's quite amazing that the high lamas and HHDL keep trying to kill DS, to show us his enlightened nature over and over again. Unfortunately, there are many people who need convincing lifetime after lifetime!

I think it's pretty skilful that the Dalai Lama gives up his good reputation on a regular basis, and has banned Dorje Shugden so that his practice grows. Prior to the ban, few outside the Tibetan community knew of Dorje Shugden and now his name appears on international media everywhere, creating interest amongst people to learn more about this Buddha

History is subject to the lens of the viewer...it can be changed as and when it suits the politics of the day. However, you can't change facts. The fact is, Dorje Shugden still exists despite all efforts to bind and suppress him. The fact is, Dorje Shugden's name is growing bigger despite all efforts to ban his practice. The fact is, the ban is there and according to the Tibetan and Indian constitutions, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, it is illegal.

Those constitutions and declarations guarantee freedom of speech and practice. The reason why people are uninformed is because there is suppression of free speech and practice. If Dorje Shugden wasn't banned, then people could discuss it properly without fear of ostracising or discrimination. As it is, they can't and have to come online, to forums like dorjeshugden{DOT}com to discuss the issue under pseudonyms.

No matter how much the Tibetan govt has done rituals, ceremonies and pujas to destroy, bind, or kill Dorje Shugden they are not able to.
It is amazing how many times they have tried. They have called high lamas from all Schools of Buddhism to eradicate Dorje Shugden yet they cannot.

The Dalai Lama isn't considered a "god" in Buddhism, he is the embodiment of compassion. A Christian can study HH's teachings the same way they can study anything else, psychology, science, art. He teaches to practice your own religion and does not wish to convert people.

I am also sorry that my nation also suffers from many of the same continually regretful qualities. Originally, I did disallow what I thought were the more unreasonable comments. But then I thought that doing so would present a Dalai Lama without enemies, which is certainly not the case. Many critics are idiots, yes, but some have raised valid issues. Thank you for your concern.

Funny. Whenever Tibet is in the news, suddenly someone creates a youtube account specifically to attack the Dalai Lama. Like clockwork. Always from outside of China and always from some address indicating that the person was granted the extraordinary privilege of working or studying outside of the country. "True" Tibet should at the very least be a place where Tibetans can celebrate being Tibetan without fear. From what I understand, that's all they are asking for. Why is China so afraid?
