Funny to see how little words differ...so many comments mention a "ritard" but I would say "ritardando" or "rit". Is that just me coming as I do from Paisley? Anyone else agree?
i would have liked it just a tiny bit slower. Im really started to get annoyed with all these conductors thinking the faster you go the better. Not how it works people.
is it just me or does the pizzacato slow down at the beginning when first chair starts her solo? I felt like she took too long w/ the first bow, but idk maybe it's just me...
as far as i've seen this conductor isnt a big fan of tempo changes, but it may be because orchestra can't handle it, great performance but there should be a retard at 1:40ish and 2:53ish... it just sounds wrong without it
Listening to the violins, I winced at the scream of a note at 00:55. That was horrible - really out of key too. Other than that slip, a wonderful job of a difficult piece.
I think there should be more of a ritard going back into the part after the vivace... I forgot what its called though.... does anyone know where im talking about at 1:42 to 1:43
There DEFINITELY needs to be more of a ritardando. They're practically continuing the vivace. Also, the rest could be taken a little slower. Other than that, a job well done.
I liek :P

iluvu2904 3 years ago
great, like the last 2 movments, exelentlt played,
but at 1:43 i think it should be slightly slower at the transiton, apart from that little twik, its a very, very well played peice

I think this is my favorite movement of St. Paul's Suite. Beautiful job.

beautiful solo! relax, ppl, one note isn't that bad.
last time i had a major solo, and all my E's were E flats... *shudders*

There were many notes of the girl's various solos that were out of tune. Her violin's black - just an observation.

This is a beautiful movement. I heard the note at 00:55. It wasn't that big a deal dude c'mon
AXESHREDDER21 4 years ago
a little too fast in my opinion, but excellent job
this was the first movement of the st. paul's i had ever heard, so maybe i'm a little biased, but i still think maybe just a tad slower!!!
good job otherwise!!

lol i think u mean "ritard"
markbark94 3 years ago
Not so much a ritard as an abrubt tempo change. Holst didn't put a ritardando in the Intermezzo.

I agree with waynemcq1. However, it was very well done :)
p.s. - I am a big fan of the second movement myself. :) But I LOVE the suite! :)

I've always loved Intermezzo best of the Suite. Excellent job, especially the concertmaster on her solos.
