  • This is where it all started, sort of...It's still better than any hip hop i've heard in the last few years...peace to the dope-skool

  • @jimberland1 marly marl is the template of 80s hip hop beats. Thinking back, his beats are the first ones i remember hearing and roxanne shante was the like first mc i remember hearing lol.

  • This is a hip hop classic

  • hi, I'm Justin and I am an alchoolic... hi Justin!

  • Anybody that think Tupac is the best rapper ever needs to listen to this song,if this song does`nt change their mind then nothing will.

  • Happy Birthday Marley Marl

  • So put a quarter in ya ass, cause you played yourself

  • This is classic but Kane had the best verse.... Thank you!

  • Me is 37 and I belive thats me!.x

  • So many legends on this track. Masta Ace, Craig G, Kool G Rap & Big Daddy Kane!!

  • common said he use to love her, man i aint never stop loving this bitch, I LOVE HIP HOP

  • This shit is the purest essence of what hip hop music is plain an simple..if hip hop was a human body this would be the HEART.., most new shit today would be the part between your balls and asshole!

  • @tone305 well put man. Love what you have just written

  • don't get me wrong, Kane is IMO one of the top MC's OAT, but Cool G Rap WENT IN & RIPPED THIS SHIT!...

  • Q tip use the first part in renaissance rap

  • Comment removed

  • (wakes up, sits by kitchen table ,puts on reading glasses ,sips on coffee ,bites piece of toast, picks up newspaper, shakes it to straighten it out)

    ....drops coffee...

...uses fingers as windshield wipers to clean glasses...

KOOL G RAP RELEASES HIS RAGE ON THE FRONT PAGE STATES TODAY IS THE DEADLINE "SUCKAS"

  • Kaned killed it. But Kook G is one of the most underated rappers in this era. u need to rewind this he's all on this track....

  • high quality

  • ITS ALL ABOUT RESPECT...!!! BACK THEN , MC'S RESPECTED EACH OTHER CRAFT...MONEY IS WHAT CRIPPLED THE "PURPOSE" OF A SONG, AS WELL AS THE ENJOYMENT OF CREATING MUSIC. I NEVER KNOCK THE NEXXT HUSTLE BUT HAVE RESPECT TO THE ART..

  • Whenever I read post below an old school classic I can't notice the how much hate goes out to the music (rap) of today. I got to agree that the rap of today can't touch the Hip Hop of yesterday but I can't help to think what is the future Of this art form. Will our children play what's being pushed today and tell they kids that this is real deal hip hop? And at that point what will that generation be listening to? Will classic cuts like this be lost? Something to think about.

  • @MrJaybugg311 Very true I hope hiphop will go back to its roots cuz most of this crap today i cant stomach. Im strictly old school hip hop & house. They have a few cats I listen to like common, talib, sum of jayz's, I used to like black eyed peas till after elephunk. B.O.B is cool, Mos def etc. Those cats keeps it real.

  • Never knew that "The Symphony (ft. Vents) by Funkoars" used the instrumental and some of there lines of the song. Its good to hear the original.

  • Back in the day this joint rgt here was all that!

  • Lyrically I give it to G Rap but Kanes voice TOWERS over the rest.

  • Damn this been dont sound like 80's, Marley Marl is up there with Premo definitely.

  • kane kill it....amazing how it sounds like it just came out yesterday....peace

  • vevo disliked this video

  • G. Rap spits my favorite verse!!!!

  • Kane should not have been the final rhymer. He got the end verse cos he was the bigger name, G Rap and Ace tore him. Both those rhymers, two of my favourite of all time, massive influence. God, i loved this time of life/music....

The first time i heard 'Poison' and 'Letter to the Better', i think i wet myself hahaha

    Juice Cruuuuuuuuu!

  • 1 person is "Lost just like Carouso"

  • Yep Kane and G rap merked it as usual But Masta Ace had the overall best bars

  • this needed about over 10 million come on more views. peace

  • I personally thought G-Rap and Daddy Kane evenly killed it.

  • back in the day it was just about that gold chain....pure and real.."no glitter shit" like doug e fresh said

  • im gonna bump this when i get dressed ...

  • this is a lyrical gang bang

  • This is what's up.....classic.

  • Tryin to do some research and go back into the history of hip hop, Alot of my favorite producers talk about marley marl, did he have any album that was greater than all of his other stuff? Or any other names that people would recommend checkin out? I could prob find out on my i own but fuck it i just figured Id ask lol

  • masta ace had the best verse

  • memories man..im a young kid but this song brings back memories

  • kam b craig 's son check out his music

  • 1 person should stick a quarter in their ass cause they played themself

  • 1 person broke his jaw trying to say what masta ace said

  • The Best

    Thanks for Sharing.

  • This was the joint!!!!!!!! Straight throwback

  • This was the joint!!!!!!!!

  • Cool G Rap & Kane murdered this song. For me this track doesn't officially begin unitl 2:28 ...

  • in my opinion the beat with the piano is one of the best ever, and kool g. rap just kills it...dude was amazing. a tight appearance by big daddy kane too.

5:54 "i ain't gonna give y'all no microphone no more, because y'all tear it up when y'all git it!"

  • INSTRUMENTAAAAL

  • WERES THE INSTRUMENTAL FOR THIS DAMMIT

  • oh yeaaaaaaah

  • how come it sounds absolutely nothing like the video? the video version is way doper.

  • who ever disliked this song is officially gay

  • Kool G Rap KILLED THIS ONE!!!!!! That's why in the 2nd Symphony, he went last.

  • @keithcutt KRS went last, he really did kill it!!!

  • @MrZakiman What? KRS isn't on this or part 2.

  • @Aardvarked88 nah check it it's called symphony 2000 - it is truck turner, big pun, kool g rap then krs the track is FIRE

  • Even with that lisp, kool g rap was awesome.

  • IN MY OPINION HIP-HOP IS MISSING THAT COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, BACK THEN WHEN YOU GOT ON A TRACK WITH SOMEBODY YOU WERE TRYING TO GET AT THAT PERSON BUT IN A RESPECTABLE WAY..LIKE GUYS WERE BATTLING ON RECORD..HIP-HOP TODAY IS MISSING THAT STREET ELEMENT WHERE LYRICS ARE VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!

  • There is a movement within the hip hop genre and it is going underground because people are sick of corporate music and MC's (Studio gangsta's) The same movement that brought you here. Great hip hop.

Subscribe to my channel if you love underground hip hop or old school

There are also tons of facts about hip hop too!

  • MUSIC IS TIMELESS, IT CANNOT DIE...HIP-HOP LIVES ON IN MY HEART, ALL I CAN SAY IS, SUPPORT OLDSKOOL RAP AND THE UNDERGROUND ARTISTS CUZ THERE ARE SOOOOOOO MANY PEOPLE THAT GO HARD AS SHIT!

AND NO MY CAPS AIN'T BROKEN

  • Nas once said that Hip Hop was dead and he was right. What we have today is the "Rap Game" and that's alright too. However, it feels so good to hear some Hip Hop again. Peace from ATL.

  • @amolapaz1 not anymore...nas even said it, not with new hard artists like freddie gibbs, curren$y, and tyler the creator, j cole....

  • @dedxsad There's always gonna be good artists floating around, but hip hop as a genre has undeniably hit an all time low. From the looks of things that's not going to change anytime soon either, you really think it's going to stop with Lil Wayne, Young Money, Gucci Mayne, Rick Ross? They are just the current trend bro, and with every trend that passes it gets even more whack. As horrible as they are it will get worse and even whacker artists will lead shit, don't be surprised when it happens

  • @SentoriCreationsAud i understand that...but u cant call hip hop dead when there are still good artists left

  • @dedxsad Of course you can lol when disco died there was still good artists at that time I'm sure, still the overall genre was slacking and thats what killed it

  • @SentoriCreationsAud i still believe that hip hip is gonna make a comeback

  • @dedxsad So did I, 5 years ago and it progressively got worse. I've done tracks with real artists and am one myself, I've worked with Joell Ortiz, Elzhi, Kno of Cunninlynguists, and will be working with Kool G Rap before his final album, and I have come to terms with how awful the overall taste is in hip hop. As long as fans like you exist artists like us will continue pumping classic music, but hip hop is undoubtedly dead on an overall aspect of the genre.

  • @SentoriCreationsAud I agree with you , I actually believed it was lost bye the time of 1996 . 1994 was the last time I listened to hip hop that was out on videos. I think underground hiphop beats are where it's at (no lyrics) But I may be just old and don't like anything that hip hop artists are talking about on their songs. It's like I heard it all before and now its for the young kids who haven't lived life, But I still thing kids are getting short changed and this video just proves it.

  • @Bladerunner55217 Check out my music man, I think you'll enjoy it. I'm 23 and climbing up the ranks fast. I feel you though, all I listen to is instrumentals now. It's much easier to get lost into the actual music without vocals over them.

  • @SentoriCreationsAud Thanks man , I subscribed. Keep up on your goals ! and from all my experience in life, The most important thing for your career whatever it might be you need to be all ways surrounded by positive goal oriented people . Because if your around people that are so so kind of people that don't have goals but are fun to be with, can get jealous of you and try and lead you off your path. Sorry I am a parent lol... Have a good week .

  • By the I'm Emcee Composition, I can tell you like good hip hop so look me up!

  • @SentoriCreationsAud ill be sure to look u guys up...cunninlyguists r one of my fav groups right now btw...i love kno's production, Death is Silent was one of my fav albums of 2010. Kool G Rap is a legend... and Joell Ortiz is nasty

  • F.Y.I.: This is real fuckin hip-hop. Anyone who says otherwise just doesn't know shit.

  • I remember them days...When rap used to be HIP-HOP.

  • @NEELSAN76

negative gangster shit was always mixed in also the corny shit, yes it existed

  • get up and do the wop!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song is one to make all up and coming rappers brush up their lyrics

  • BIG DADDY WENT NUTS ON THE MARLEY TRACK - DAMN!!!

  • Put a quarter in your ass cause u played yourself! Rap's dream team!

  • EPIC

  • this shit is dopeeeeeeeee

  • BEFORE THE BLING. BEFORE RING-TONE RAP. BEFORE HIP-HOP TURNED INTO "RAP". THIS IS WHEN TRUE MC'S DID IT FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME. "TAKE A DEEP BREATH BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE ANOTHER LEFT / COMIN' BACK LIKE I'M REVENGIN' MY BROTHERS DEATH"! NOBODY EVER DID IT LIKE KOOL G. RAP!

  • @NEELSAN76 yeah but they had bling back then. More gawdy than it is now... Huge rope chains and 4 finger rings... haha Those were the days. Yes G-Rap was ridic !!!

  • @DTRAVELZ Yeah your right about the big ass rope chains but they were actually cheaper than the college tuitions some of these rappers wear around their neck today...After comin' out with just 1 album! How the fuck is that even possible?

  • @NEELSAN76 Yup , I remember in one of Kane's songs we raps about cops wanting to know how he was pushing a car woth 25 grand..... wow times have changed !

  • kool g rap spit the best verse i think i ever heard

  • incredible!!

Rap from another planet niggaz !!!

  • if you like dis track listen 2 wu tang dope freestyle 7:13 over dis beat its messy

  • this is my shit right here

  • g rap put heads to bed for real .,that nigga black the fuck out, he went in

  • Ha ha...Rumor has it that Marley asked MC Shan to be on this track...he said,"With all those New Jacks? Hell No!" Dumb Move.

But still it may have been smart....he would have looked like an idiot next to these cats.

  • @SaintIzzle lmao so true

  • Big L - Rock N. Wills

  • Great classic.

  • No watered down nursery rhyme lyrics here! Kool G Rap and Big Daddy Kane simply destroyed this track...To all you up and coming rappers...take a lesson!

  • G-Rap killed it! He had some classic battle lines. My favorite was ... You can't replace me, ice me or ace me - bass me, face me, slice me or race me,

bite me or taste me -- I'll show you that I got force.

My rap burns your mouth like hot sauce. Freaking classic.

  • master ace was fresh loved kane too

  • Will never forget the first time I heard this...I was 12 years old and it blew my mind.

  • @spexxx

I was in kindergarten and it was the shit! Pure classic

  • just saw that Roger That joint by Young Money...I had to come back here to watch this video in order to purge my brain from what i saw and hear on that wack ass video...

  • Lyrical perfection period! Game over.

  • This beat Made me a hip-hop lover!!!!MaxRezpekt ToOldSkool!

  • the symphony is a old school legendary rap kool g rap is the man and master ace is good to we play it all the time.

  • Wicked!

  • Kool G Rap was spittin on this joint literally and figuratively, lol!!!!

  • @06alwilliams Haha! Well-played, sir.

  • what happend 2 B.D.K. HE JUST FELL OFF.HIS FIRST TAPE WAS A CLASSIC AND EVERY TAPE AFTER THAT HE GOT WORSE AND WORSE....

  • This effort is definitive proof hip hop isn't just music, it's an artwork. G. Rap and Kane's skills are priceless.

  • "and battlin' me is hazardous to health, so put a quarter in ya ass cuz ya played yourself!"

my favorite battle diss of all time.

  • I'd never heard of this song until I saw a comment on Ottis Redding's song. Love it!

  • cus most of the old stuff is real not fake as hell n nobody was bittin hard n we didnt have commerical rap mixed wit rnb and rock like lil wayne if anything the new cats r ruining it these niggaz will always remain legends exspeacialy KGR

  • daddy ripped it wit the lyrics no doubt.

  • Some jackass said there's no other great posse cuts. Not even naming Wu Tang songs, there are tons of great and arguably greater posse cuts. But this IS the godfather of all those songs. Sorry, but I hate hip-hop fans who think only that old stuff is worth a damn

  • Put a Quarter in your ass and play yourself

    Kane killed it

  • @DJCinthaBoy I agree. Following G Rap was tough, but Kane dropped some better lines. Kool G ripped it with the flow and his style of rhyming tho.

  • Kool G killed this! Its so obvious.

  • kool g rap KILLED IT

  • G Rap !!

  • dope.

  • great way to make a debut (talkin about masta ace) epic song

  • I just uploaded this from his cassette Marley Marl but the cassette version seems distorted like, the recording volume was too loud and clipping. Definitely a killer jam!

  • put a quarter in ya ass cauz ya played yaself

  • This is the perfect rap song.

  • this shit is dope 4ever.how can we bring old school rap back in style.

  • "When it comes to money, yo Grant's my nigga!"

Kane is crazy! You don't see collabs like this nowadays!

  • there's a million collabs like this, they're just not as good.

  • Yea definately the best crew track ever, better than anything by the roc, bad boy, ruff ryders who ever.......

  • yes it is....#2 - Straight Outta Compton- NWA

  • Ace stunned'em, Craig G knocked'em out, Kool G Rap killed it and Big Daddy Kane buried it. Legendary track.

  • ace killed it

  • Beastie Boys- Hey Fuck You

  • Craig G should have been replaced by Shan

  • Gotta disagree with Shan being better for this track than Craig G. He was truly a sucka MC, just as KRS-One asserted. Just my 2 cents, but I gotta call it like I see it, yo.

  • Hells no you crazy graig g killed it with that

"I'll take you over like a greedy executive."

  • Greatest posse cut of all time!!!!!
