Due to the sheer shock and beyond belief feeling of seeing ufo makes it quite difficult to think at the time of seeing it. MY mind emptied of all thought and it was so unusuaul it caught my full attention and the aurora caused me to stare in disbelief for 30 seconds. THs initself makes remembering it in exact video memory like form difficult and the skeptics almost had me believe this was my misunderstanding but the other day seeing a red light brought it flooding back to my mind.

@muldrowe if the plain is with the nose of the plain pointed to you (so he flies straight ahead in your direction) you dont see any movement of the plain until the plain is close enough... here in Holland I see sometimes (depending from the wind direction) airplains from airport zestienhoven nearby Rotterdam. I often see a "star" just standing still for a minute or so, and than *floep* it begins to move and it becomes a airplain:P

I doubt a helicopter would be flying around in such a large dust storm... Most likely a plane though. Sucks to be those pilots, you can't really 100% judge when they're going to happen, but when they do you better pray to go you don't end up smashing into anything flying around in it.

@galactuskev no not necessarily, this is within an urban region, so chances are what you are seeing is the landing light of an airplane on approach to an airport in the region, and airplanes landing light, which broadcasts its majorital intensity with in a 60* radius of its actual angle of shot from where the light is pointing, which means take the pointed landing light, and draw a 30* line up and down of where it is point and people seeing it within that region will just see a giant white light
