  • Yeah its not a bad exercise, the only thing I find with this method is your elbows cant go back just that little bit of distance needed to really get the full benefit as they would on a bench.

    the point of floor benches is not to get that part of the bench in, it isolates your triceps more.

  • it will be better than push ups cause you can increse your resistance as you get stronger with increasing the dbs. I wouldn't say a subsitute for bench press though, maybe alternative. However, I think better for adding some size do to the fact your able to increase resistance with dbs or any free weights. I would contract your chest though ,so you will get more benefit.

    what your body/mind hates/ is uncomfortable doing, is probably what it needs the most.

    and ultimately what you are habituated to (i.e. comfortable) doing needs to be not neglected,

    but also stepped away from now and then to get the "other perspective"

    All muscles in the body/mind cannot be worked, but variety tends to hit the dark neglected corners better that any other method.

    Variety can be incorporated by measuring across multiple exercises, with overall goals.

  • If you dont have a bench, and you want to get more ROM, all i do is get 3 bed pillows and put them on top of each other. Job done, works for me.

  • I rate this one a 3. There's just so much more one can do. A for verbal presentation. It beats the exercise videos where they don't say anything or crank music.

  • Ok dumbass, the floor stops your elbows from going back past the mid line, which severely limits your ROM. You should always do this work on a bench, NOT on the floor.

  • Actually this particular exercise is also done on those multi-gym sets, You grab the handles and push them away from you which lifts the weights behind you. Your arms don't go right behind you, only slightly. Besides if you did it on a bench as well, you could hurt your shoulders/biceps if you're not careful. He is doing this correctly!

  • Of the millions and millions of people all around the world who do bench presses every day, I have never known anyone who got hurt because his elbows dropped behind his mid line.
