I grew up in San Diego (military industrial complex) and I went to college and spent a lot of time in France and I can tell you that socialism, if not dosed with a little bit of darwinism, makes a lot of lazy people and worse, makes laziness more tolerant to the population. Only after living in France that I learned how important it is for people to carry their own wait. In France, you don't have to be the smartest or best, you just have to breath to survive.

@paulism1984 and I think the biggest problem is that in every population there will be those that run fast and those that can't run fast. The ones that can't will advocate for a slow pace so that everyone can be fine, but the ones that sprint feel left out because they want to get to heaven or starbucks faster. The problem is that there cannot be one speed to fit everyone. You cannot tell the runner to be happier walking slower. That's telling a millionaire to want less.
Of course there is incentive. I'm not talking about the "You work 14 hour shift, and the great China will take it for the cause" socialism most people think about when they hear the word "socialism". I am talking about workers getting more money the better they do. Surely if you can triple your salary by just working the best way you can, you would? And nobody has to keep lazy workers in the factory of wherever, after all, even in socialism job is not a birthright.

Republicans are not christian. In fact they are nothing more than modern day pharisees. @Jvraz As a conservative christian, I actually agree with you. Most "believers" are in name only, which is a disgrace. True believers make an effort to practice the tenents of the faith, but there are a lot of self-proclaimed "christians" out there who don't even do the minimum. But to be fair, the same can be said of the large group of "christian" Democrats as well. In general there are many "christians" on both sides of the isle who don't practice.

I grew up in San Diego (military industrial complex) and I went to college and spent a lot of time in France and I can tell you that socialism, if not dosed with a little bit of darwinism, makes a lot of lazy people and worse, makes laziness more tolerant to the population. Only after living in France that I learned how important it is for people to carry their own wait. In France, you don't have to be the smartest or best, you just have to breath to survive.

@paulism1984 and I think the biggest problem is that in every population there will be those that run fast and those that can't run fast. The ones that can't will advocate for a slow pace so that everyone can be fine, but the ones that sprint feel left out because they want to get to heaven or starbucks faster. The problem is that there cannot be one speed to fit everyone. You cannot tell the runner to be happier walking slower. That's telling a millionaire to want less.

The top 10% pay something like 70% of the income tax currently, and Obama thinks thats still not enough. The bottom 48% don't pay any income tax at all - thats real fair. Democrats want to make over half the population exempt from paying taxes, creating a permanent voting block that will keep Democrats in power forever.

@offroadexpeditions As far as war goes, its your boy Obama's war now. He's taken full ownership of it by supporting our efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq. He could have sent everybody home in 2008, but he didn't. Now, over 3 years after he took office, we're still in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But it took 3 years to "formally end" the war, so its technically his war. Obama renegged on immediate troop withdrawal when he took office over 3 years ago. He has ownership, make no mistake.

Republicans are not christian. In fact they are nothing more than modern day pharisees. Pharisees were the overzealous, pompous, arrogant, legalistic jewish council that was corrupt and always opposed Jesus and his followers throughout the entire New Testament. I don't know if you are a Christian, but if you look at how the pharisees acted in the world, its pretty much spot on with the so called "Christian Right". They make such a huge mockery at my religion more than anyone else.

One thing that really bothers me about Christians is that they don't like being like their Christ. Jesus would hang out with those who were considered the scum of the earth at his time: tax collectors, prostitutes. If Jesus were here he would hang out with all the rejects of society and wouldn't be happy with democrats or republicans. There's too much self-righteousness.

@Jvraz As a conservative christian, I actually agree with you. Most "believers" are in name only, which is a disgrace. True believers make an effort to practice the tenents of the faith, but there are a lot of self-proclaimed "christians" out there who don't even do the minimum. But to be fair, the same can be said of the large group of "christian" Democrats as well. In general there are many "christians" on both sides of the isle who don't practice.
